    In Latin America we say colloquialy "Chao" instead of "Adiós". "Adiós" is a little bit formal to us. "Chao" it's similar to Ciao in italian.
    Also, "Buenas noches" is used not only like when you're going to sleep but as well for example if you arrive at a restaurant you say "Buenas noches" to the waiter. It's like a greeting too.
    "¿Cuál es tu nombre?", which means "What is your name?" it's more uncommon than "¿Cómo te llamas? but it's also common.
    "Encantado de conocerle/conocerte" is a bit formal and a deepest way to say "Nice to meet you" , it is more common to say just "Mucho gusto".
    The response to "Gracias" more common is "De nada". Here in Panama we use "De nada" and I think the majority of countries. But in other countries like Colombia and Costa Rica they say "Con gusto" which means like "It's a pleasure". In Venezuela is used "A su orden" but here in Panama we say "A la orden" and both have the same meaning. The literally translation will be something like "I'm at your service". "No hay de qué" is also common, but not as common as "De nada". The meaning of this response will be like "It's nothing or you're saying thank you for nothing".
    To me, "Perdón/Lo siento" have the exact same meaning. You can use it if you did not listen well or if you did something wrong.
    I think the literally translation of "Bienvenido/Bienvenidos" it's the union of the word "bien" which means "good" and "venido/venidos" which can be like the past tense of the verb "venir" that means arrive or come and it will mean like the person arrive safe and sound, but we used it as welcome, but here in Latin America is used in very formal situations.
    I also don't find any difference between "¿Cómo estás/Qué tal?" which means "How are you?", like you can say to anyone "Cómo estás" and the other person will respond just "Bien/good" and it wouldn't be considered rude.
    "No lo comprendo" which means "I don't undertand" it's very rare. We say "No entiendo" instead of "No lo entiendo". When you say it without "lo" it's like more personal, like you don't understand, but if you add "lo" it's like pointing that you don't understand the object or subject like "I don't understand it". But as I said, the more common way is "No entiendo", "no comprendo" can also be used but if you don't understand something very important, like "I don't understand why he left me."
    These are just some differences that I found :)

      @@hustonbtw If word was the only thing that you needed for languages for every day business transactions and daily interactions and making new friends then that would be cool but it is obviously not in reality! I think word in Español is pablras or something like that! I find when listening to folks speaking in Español that I have to do like mathematical calculation in my brain which seems to require more effort then doing multiplication in my brain! when Español natives speak fast it is the worst because many common words that I know in Español begins to change completely in terms of their pronunciation! for example they are saying something with el and another word that begins with s it would sound like sell and you would not even know sometimes that they use the o which means "or" in Spanish or "a" which means "to" in Español ' so it is not very easy! and some can relate to what I am saying also. But then again it is like native English, English is my mother tongue and even we natives´ have trouble understanding other English speakers. Like where I use to work before for example the guys from Manchester where not understood at all! I was one of the few that could understand them clearly!

      SEM LLC my son is in 2nd grade. He does not know Spanish, other than about 5 words, and said one time "gracias amigo" the teacher got really angry and told him not to do that. It's quite annoying that they don't teach other languages in elementary and that kids are being disrespected when they use another language.

    • @luckneh5330
      @luckneh5330 5 лет назад +5

      @@RIHeart90 Throughout my entire pre-k through elementary (besides 5th grade) I learned Spanish. I didn't remember it well due to teachers wanting to make us learn English more rather than Spanish because English is the dominant language in the USA. I learned the weather, phrases like "How are you, what's your name" but they don't teach you conjugations. They teach you simple phrases. Why did the teacher get angry at your son though? He said it correctly, "Thank you, friend." Unless he said it to the teacher then, it's not that bad, just a mistake. The teacher, on the other hand, should have helped corrected his mistakes in a nicer way rather than getting angry.

    Some Spanish tips:
    *The "H" hasn't got sound
    *"Chau" is an informal "Adiós" like Bye
    *Don't say "Mexicans/mexicanos" say "Latinos"
    *"Bebé" is an informal expression to say "Baby" and a little child too (Just like in our language)
    Subjects
    I = Yo
    You = Tu/Usted/Vos
    He = El
    She = Ella
    It (masculine) = Esto
    It (femenine) = Esta
    We (masculine) = Nosotros
    We (femenine) = Nosotras
    They (masculine) = Ellos
    They (femenine) = Ellas
    *"El" y "La" mean "The". Because Spanish diference masculine and femenine nouns

    Nobody says ¿Cuál es tu nombre? (What is your name?) in Spanish, not in Spain at least. I suggest ¿Cómo te llamas? instead. Much better!

      +Julio Sánchez Veiga síí I only learnt "Como te llamas", and even some of them are not the common usage in Spanish, I think people would just simply say "Encantado/a" and no "Yo soy de" just "Soy de"...

    I have a feeling Rosa is from Spain because she pronounces the Spanish "c" with a "th" sound. Can someone confirm this for me?

    • @bhand013
      @bhand013 Год назад

      Yes, she is from Spain for sure. I could even say that she may be somewhere in the middle, maybe from Madrid, Valladolid, Soria, Ávila, Salamanca... because she has a very clear pronunciation and when she sais words with L is not very marked like in Catalonian. In Spain, we are the only ones who pronounce C like /th/. The rest of the spanish speakers "sesean", which is why they pronounce C as /s/ and then it's very difficult to understand the grammar rules to write properly. Even in Spain there are two geographic areas where they "sesean": Andalucia and Canary Islands.

      Oh?
      1. I thought "see you soon" is "hasta pronto", no?
      2. Is "Encantado / Encantada" short for 'nice to meet you"?.
      3. Is the word 'disculpo' same meaning as 'perdon'?
      4. So 'le' is formal and 'te' is informal?
