It's not a Newell but it's screwed together better than most of today's coaches, looks and runs great. No slides but Spartan Xtra wide frame cures a lot of ills. Hats off to both of you!

Cant wait for the engine in your truck! You sir are a lucky man I do know your working hard so its not all luck ! But you hit jackpot with lake speed!
Lake saying screw the small track i want to haul as* is priceless. He probably went home and dug a fire suit out of mothballs, washed it and shined his helmet. Checked the forecast for good weather . Ordered a new set of tires.
I love the historical content of it no matter if it's long or short am looking forward to see lake speed run one more time with a big smile on his face
You two just keep doing what you're doing.. there's no one better at showing people the real history of nascar.without what you do it lost forever.lake Speed was a bad ass privateer. He did more with less than 75% of the entire field and . Lake Jr. Is 1 of a kind . VERY VERY SMART MAN
Man o man all your videos are the stuff that a small town Mechanic's dreams are made of be safe keep on keeping on its 2.05 an the videos keep me at the edge of my seat 👍👍🫢👍
I forgot to mention in my first comment: I can hardly wait to see Lake Speed driving his race car flat out with this refurbished/updated/original engine!!!
Great video guys! Keep on rolling with this content. I think you ve hit on something that alot of long time Nascar fans, and race fans in general, love to see. Nostalgia. With the help of guys like Larry Mc Clure, Lake Sr. and Jr., and all of the other car owners, drivers, and mechanics, you have brought both insight and entertainment to many. Learning from the past is the key to living in the present. Keep it up!
@@Stapleton42 I first started attending races in 1966 at the Middle Georgia Raceway. I saw Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, David Pearson and Bobby Isaac. They were driving Grand National Sportsman and from then on Bobby Allison fan for life.
Not only do you two have one of the most underrated RUclips channel, you embody the old school, down home way that Nascar used to be. You also gave the sexiest hat model!. 😁👍
I was a fan of Lake in the 60's when he was Champion kart racer. Wonderful to follow him through Stock Car career. Seeing and hearing him and his family now is a hoot. Thank you so much.
This is the best "Nascar" series done in many years. Fantastic video as well as the rest of them. You two are setting a new standard. The editing keeps getting better and your questions and commentary are excellent as well as knowing when to just listen. Really great job on this and subject matter is riveting. Cannot wait to see Lake run this car! Lake Jr. should have his own show. Love listening and learning all this. :)
This was by far one of my most favorite documented rebuild/resto series. So much great information and a lot of great people. It's insane how a few little tricks applied to some old school parts can transform an engine in a big way. I hope you do another series like this and you absolutely have to document Lake Speed at VIR testing out this rocket engine. Even put a simple timing app on a phone in the car to record the MPH he gets up to.
VP C16 smells the best to me! Man this content is awesome. I love all the people that’s involved with this, seeing them excited about it, seeing the insides of it! The best part of it though is seeing the spark in Lake Sr! Thanks for the videos!
That was AWESOME! Can't wait to see Lake get on the track and mash on it. Lake Jr is a cool customer and so damn smart. You know Lake Sr is a proud Papa. You guys are killing it with these videos. You and Logan keep doing what you're doing!
Great video guys! I'm always on the edge of my seat, especially for these Lake Speed vids. My name is Lake too and I've always been into racing. Growing up in Indy it sorta came with the territory. For years I've heard "There's a NASCAR racer named Lake, ya know." Your videos have been such an incredible history lesson of his career. Thank you so much!
Watching the guys building up the heads was great. The muscle memory on display was real ! I have really enjoyed this series and your channel in general. Love from the UK
I sure hope you guys are going all the way with this series. To the reinstallation of the motor to Lake Speed out on the racetrack that would be awesome to see. You guys rock keep it up !!!! Love seeing the history of Nascar.
This was one of the coolest and most insightful video series I've ever seen on the details of the cup engines from the 90s. As a huge Ford fan, this was awesome to see. Have the Speeds involved throughout the process made it even better. Thanks for all of the work that went into this.
I am not new and love your content and would watch whole videos, but the jump cuts/editing honestly made it so much better for me. I get that some videos are meant for the more in depth convo's and tidbits, but this one was done great still giving us some of that, but going through a lot of elapsed time and still delivering
I have been following the Lake Speed engine build. You have assembled the most complete series I have ever seen. Lake Speed Sr and Jr are awesome. I could listen to Jr break down a race engine in every detail for hours. He is the best I have seen. That being said I am not a big NASCAR guy more a NHRA fan. Still I soak up the knowledge. Keep up the good work I love all the videos this one was exceptionally good because you did pop around a little bit and bring an old clip so I thought that was super educational and gave the video a lot of content and updates really build up to the horsepower numbers at the end. Nice job
I was born 1980 and the sound of lakes ford on the stand.........I remember when they did the first "in car camera" it was the beginning of becoming addicted to the sound of RPM's........Watching LS JR value add to all the pioneering and engineering is nothing short of amazing. Great Job Lake!!!
Great video and the new format is very good. I've done my share of engines on the dyno and never get enough of it! and Lake is spot on when he says that these machines have made engine building a science today as we can see everything we do.
I like every episode that you guys churn out. To see smile on lakes face when he was talking about getting back into his old stock car that makes what you guys do even better. I remember being a little fella laying in the floor in front of the old zenith floor model TV watching him and a lot of the other drivers that you guys interview win races. So thank you for taking the time to do this sort of stuff. Those days of building the best engine and putting it on the track without restrictor plates was a great time to be enjoying nascar.
Great job on these engine videos of lake speed engine. Would love to see lake speed driving his car around the track again with this engine. Love all these videos you guys do. Even the old race shops. Your friend David Hiatte from Missouri
You was born 30 yrs too late. I can remember living near 5 nascar shops not 1 near where they all are now. Some were around Charlotte but not all. In 98 I can remember hearing a car practicing at Greenville p track in the middle of a week day near my work. But this one sounded different, so we drove the 1/2 mile to see Jeff Gordon making some test laps for Martinsville. Stuff like that happened all the time. I lived across the road In traveler's rest sc 1986.. from the quaker state Ricky rudd driver.. Buick team. When I was a teen I lived down the road from the Skoal bandit shop Asheville NC . Think Leo Jackson? owned it then. Both buildings in SC and Asheville NC still there. It's sad what nascar has come to. And sheet metal? Just go grab it out of the dumpster.. nobody cared 😂 different times you and Logan would have absolutely loved the 80s God bless you two..
My favorite smell is vp108 and synthetic 2 stroke oil. It has to be below freezing air temperatures though for it to smell sweet. The vp108 through a 4 stroke is pretty good though. As for engine oil, there is meeting api specs, and there is exceeding them. The penzoil platinum is one of many that truly exceed the specifications. Amsoil and mobile 1 are others. In my non racing, but non easy use gas applications I use Walmart synthetic. It’s quality and cheap.
Love hearing all the nascar stories and tech from back in the day. Also love hearing stories from those who made nascar and racing possible. Engine builders, chassis fabricators, etc .. keep going plenty of content still out there
I can't imagine finding a more fitting pair to represent your vision of Golden Age to Modern Technology than Lake Sr & Jr. The Speeds are truly examples of the high caliber of people in Motorsports and life in general. I hope you are able to show us the on-track results of everyone's hard work. This has been a great series and I have enjoyed every step of the way. Thanks
Keep this stuff coming!! Awesome series!! As a long time Lake Speed fan from way back , I can't wait to see Lake tearing it up at VIR in a legendary car with a legendary wheel man!! Thank you guys so much for sharing this!!!
Worth the wait to see this video. 300+ HP gain from where it was to now is amazing. Can't wait to see it in the car and making laps somewhere, it's going to be an animal.
Hey tell Lake jr. that I really enjoyed his recent article in Hotrod magazine. I know writing tech articles isn’t his day job, but he’s really good at it. I’m a big fan of Stapleton42. Thanks for the 90s content- that’s when I started following NASCAR. Keep it up!!!
I been waiting for this video and thought ya forgot about it, it was worth the wait. The people you`ve met and the shops you`ve been in is astounding. Most shop guys won`t tell ya nothing let alone letting a video be taken. One detail I didn`t hear was the deck height of the Windsor block. I think it`s 9.2 inches and a production blocks are 9.5, I`ve got a set of those heads mocked up on a 9.5 deck and it looks like I`m gonna need spacers and thats a bummer. 7mm rings, thats .028 inches and they make smaller ones? Wow.
IMHO don't worry about what the viewers want. Keep doing what you want. The views and subs will come because of your creativity and content. You will never give everybody what they want. I rarely like videos longer than 15 or 20 minutes. However, yours are the exception, so again, you're doing something right.
Lake is a pure legend and still humble. That’s what you call greatnesses and an og gentleman 🤷♂️. Also Lake jr. Realizes this is a big part of him. He loves and respects his father and is clearly proud to be part of this and proud of who his father is. It’s touching to see this stuff being so intertwined in a great family.
Even knowing nothing about building an engine, this is my new favorite series so far. Loved the Richard Petty series, but hearing that engine screaming again is awesome. Can't wait to see Lake running it. I like the new format. Hits all the high points, makes the video smoother, and lets you put out separate videos with even more specific content (like the carb info you said would be it's own thing). Thanks for what yall do.
I like the fact that they talk to you like normal people and they don't look at your funny when you ask questions because honestly some of these people can be pretty arrogant like you should know it already why would you be there if you knew it already..the Speed guys Are good group of people I can tell it just by how they respond to your questions! Great Video
Thanks man. They know my competence level and understand I am often asking questions on behalf of the viewer. Most guys are not as jerky as you’d think
Man I love these lake speed videos! Thanks. Keep them coming !!on a side note if you get a chance check out the soo i500 snowmobile race. It’s nascar on snowmobiles 500 laps 500 miles. Was just today. Tightest race in history today.
The smirk on the seasoned Lake Speed face when the final numbers were stated by Jr has to be worth the price of production! Love this production format btw.
This engine sounded so much better than the other one on the dyno! Impressive numbers on the dyno from now to back when it was rebuilt. Great series--Thanks!!!!
Yes you nailed it. Love the info input. More input as a retired ASE Technician and Muscle car dirt track racer use to be from the 70s through the twenty twenties I hope thanks alot folks.

Just go grab it out of the dumpster.. nobody cared 😂 different times you and Logan would have absolutely loved the 80s God bless you two..
Absolutely true
I love the update and Lake Speed is just a great guy and obviously raised a great son. It's a joy to watch your videos. Keep it up.
Thanks man!
Lake Speed is a real good driver.
Congrats on the Pennzoil sponsorship.
Engine builders, chassis fabricators, etc .. keep going plenty of content still out there
Thanks man! It’s endless
Each time I think it is your best video of the two of you there come another winner !!!! 😀🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Stephen 💪🏻
Worth the wait to see this video. 300+ HP gain from where it was to now is amazing. Can't wait to see it in the car and making laps somewhere, it's going to be an animal.
Hey tell Lake jr. that I really enjoyed his recent article in Hotrod magazine. I know writing tech articles isn’t his day job, but he’s really good at it. I’m a big fan of Stapleton42. Thanks for the 90s content- that’s when I started following NASCAR. Keep it up!!!
Can't wait to see Lake run that engine 👍
I been waiting for this video and thought ya forgot about it, it was worth the wait. The people you`ve met and the shops you`ve been in is astounding. Most shop guys won`t tell ya nothing let alone letting a video be taken. One detail I didn`t hear was the deck height of the Windsor block. I think it`s 9.2 inches and a production blocks are 9.5, I`ve got a set of those heads mocked up on a 9.5 deck and it looks like I`m gonna need spacers and thats a bummer. 7mm rings, thats .028 inches and they make smaller ones? Wow.
Don’t quote me but 9.2 sounds right. Look up R452 block
Awesome storytelling! I appreciate the hard work, passion you guys put into your channel. Thank you so much.
IMHO don't worry about what the viewers want. Keep doing what you want. The views and subs will come because of your creativity and content. You will never give everybody what they want.
I rarely like videos longer than 15 or 20 minutes. However, yours are the exception, so again, you're doing something right.
Thanks man that means a lot!
Thanks man. It’s so much fun
These episodes have been so great between Lake, Mark and Sterling you have covered all my childhood heroes :-) Thanks!
Nailing it with your content! Thanks for bringing the gold old days back to some of us.
Just Perfect !!! You and your wife are the best for real nascar stories !!!!!! God Bless you both !!!
This is awesome content...really think you guys have hit a gold mine with this Nascar history stuff with great people...keep the video's coming
We will! It wouldn’t be possible without guys like you Doug 💪🏻
Good Job . Either format works for me . Thanks for all the hard work you 2 do .
Love the videos keep them coming I enjoy every video you all have done. Keep being the genuine down to earth people that you are please
Great job! Love the info about all the glory days of NASCAR!!!! Keep up the great work!!
Glad you enjoy it!
The engine turned out great.
Big power.
Technology paid off.
Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations to everyone involved.
Take care, EM.
Thanks 👍
Man I love these lake speed videos! Thanks. Keep them coming !!on a side note if you get a chance check out the soo i500 snowmobile race. It’s nascar on snowmobiles 500 laps 500 miles. Was just today. Tightest race in history today.
This was a cool video father and son love for the sport is compelling thanks for sharing 👍
The smirk on the seasoned Lake Speed face when the final numbers were stated by Jr has to be worth the price of production! Love this production format btw.
Can't wait to see it run and put in a car
This engine sounded so much better than the other one on the dyno! Impressive numbers on the dyno from now to back when it was rebuilt. Great series--Thanks!!!!
Couldn't agree more!
Yes you nailed it. Love the info input. More input as a retired ASE Technician and Muscle car dirt track racer use to be from the 70s through the twenty twenties I hope thanks alot folks.
Thanks Theodore!! You were born in the best era
This episode brought back memories for me as a kid visiting my uncle in North Carolina. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Been waiting for this one! It was worth the wait! Now I can't wait for Lake to get out on VIR! This project is such a treat! Thanks for doing this!

Fascinating, entertaining, informative, one of the best videos you have done to date. In my opinion just as good as if not better than most high dollar production on same sort of topic. Thanks Mitchell and Logan for all your hard work. WOW!
Thanks Benny!!
I like the jumping around , fast clips
