Just spent two weeks getting my model a to run good and it wasn’t one thing we went through the carb wasn’t that ran new wires to the distributor new condenser got rid of the Chinese ignition key ever thing was wrong I don’t know if your motor is all new components but you just got to keep checking everything you will get it in the end it’s a great feeling when she’s running sweet 👍🏼take it easy mate 👍🏼🍺🇳🇿😎
Nice progress on the '37! Don't give up on the coupe, even if you have to pay someone to get it running right. I've felt the same frustration dealing with mechanical gremlins, and given up and sold a couple cars at a loss because I was too stubborn to ask for help...only to discover later that I had overlooked something simple. Just remember, there's lots of skilled mechanics out there, but very few people have your ability to work metal.
Travis the sedan delivery metal work looks great . that 59 impala at the storage place is sooo cool , i have a black tripower 348 impala ragtop project. i hope you find the problem with the model A it is such a badass car i love it. it has the look. it would look really cool with tripower on it even if it just runs off the center carb and has 2 dummies that look hooked up . the new 37 project looks real cool too. keep up the great work !! jim
I was looking at your shoebox Ford, it reminds me of a custom I saw that had been sectioned about 3 or 4 inches. It changed the car entirely, I know it is a monumental job. If you can find a picture of a shoebox and run a copy of it off just cut a slice of it out of the middle all the way around and you may see what I saw or you may not like it at all.
Funny how the problems/issues with these old motors almost always end up being VERY BASIC while we almost always suspect some convoluted theory of what's wrong. Glad you discovered a simple, easy to overcome cause. That "storage" is like being sad about sending your kid off to "temporarily" live in a "Royal Castle". ;o) That Model A coupe has my favorite original color scheme. Not so "sporty" but very "classy"!! Love that black Impala too !! As always, the metal work looks "AWESOME" !!!
Your not dumb. Your not! Flatheads are. Put a Chevy in it and enjoy it. I know I know that’s not “traditional”. Get over it and move on. Enjoy your hard work. Tell shepherd to hang on. Don’t tell him it’s ok cause it’s not. In my experience, whatever your working on can be struggle. Love watching you figure it out. Can’t wait to see ya figure out the flathead, they are awesome. But 100 maybe 150hp ok I’m done. Keep up the tradition. I want one too. Keep digging. If ya know ya know!
Fantastic jobs you do 👍, and sooo nice. We are a gang at the fire brigade in Stockholm 🚒🚒Sweden that follows all your renovations. Will send some pictures of old fire trucks that we have renovated to original, so you can show your friend with fire trucks ... 🚒🚒
Thanks for sharing, Travis! I think the fender lip and the quarter panel patch look great! After seeing the mounting holes on the lower fender, I fully understand why you want the running board "located" before welding! Good diagnostic work on the plugged screen in the sediment bowl on your coupe! Fantastic storage facility! Enjoy! Be safe!
Good stuff dude! Always interesting! Mind me asking roughly how big your garage is? Moving into a workshop soon and trying to get a plan of how best to lay it out with minimal room! Thank you
Even if the coupe runs like crap, it is so badass looking. Just park it, sit back and admire it. Lol And if you really get fed up, well... I'm about 35 minutes from you with a fist full of cash :)
sounds like the carb is running very lean; suggest you open up the air mixture to let a bit more fuel through and also look at the settings on the accelator pump cam.
It seems like you have a coil isdue or a coil wire issue on your A coupe. I had the exact same problem on a 1973 Lincoln continental once that I went insane trying to figure out, I replaced the carburetor, the fuel pump, the points, condenser, the cap, the rotor, the plugs, the wires I think I even replaced the distributor, it would pop and backfire and spew and I got lucky my neighbor happened to be looking under the hood and he saw a quick little tiny blue ark at the terminal end on the positive side of the coil... It turned out the wire ringlet only had about three little tiny strands of wire left, I cut the ringlet off and just twisted the wire on the coil and took it around the block and it was a world of difference. The car would idle all day long and it would free rev just fine it was only when it was under load that the issue occurred it's hard to give a professional opinion not actually seeing the car or being in the car in person unfortunately you're probably two or three thousand miles away from me so it's not like I can help you directly.
Lookin good....woulda liked a better ride along...you showed a ballast resister you needed to install... I hope you dont have too much volage to your coil..that may make it sputter...keep the videos commin
I feel the same frustration with my 29 Tudor. Except it’s with the brakes. I only get a month or two then I have to change a wheel cylinder or master cylinder or the bleeders won’t seal…..

What an awesome place to store the couple. No doubt in my mind that you'll get it finished. More room in the shop to make money!

What steering column and box are you using on the coupe
Ford F-1 box and column

you can use magnets to hold the new parts on
Magnets and tig welding don't mix. They screw up the welding arc.
Lookin good....woulda liked a better ride along...you showed a ballast resister you needed to install... I hope you dont have too much volage to your coil..that may make it sputter...keep the videos commin
I did install that resistor. There will be a nice ride along when it’s actually running correctly 😂

Damn old Ford gremlins!
👍🏻
Carb , fuel !
I'll take the 30 coupe
Haha I’ll get to it soon enough! Gotta make money first!
You need a fuel pressure regulator if you are using a electric pump should only 6 to 7 lbs of fuel pressure.
He’s not running a pump. And a Stromberg carb only needs max 3psi. Advertised needs 2.5-3psi.

Adjust your timing . Could be off and vacuum advance .
I’ve tried adjusting timing but maybe I’m just not the guy to do it, I’ll have someone look at it
Lead! Respirator for your health!
I thought of that when I was finished.....
Aren't the ones that only want to go full throttle pedal to the floor and go
Sounds like a timing issue, needs more advance.
I tried adjusting the timing and everything I did didn’t solve the issue....gotta be something small and stupid. Always is
@@RACGARAGE usually. I don't think it's fuel related or it wouldn't come out of it when your floor it, unless it's a vacuum leak
@@markbauman1411 could be a vacuum leak I haven’t checked for that yet
