The different types of tongues is the different operations of speaking in tongues:
1) The first evidence that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit and the born again believers private prayer language for self edification.
2) Speaking in tongues that is accompanied by a believer with the gift of interpretation so that all in a church gathering may be edifies.
3) A sign to unbelievers. Acts ch.2 is a perfect example of this operation.
Nobody does Acts 2 type tongues today
