Did you grow up with controlling parents? If so, how did you break free?
i literally am living the life. i moved out at 17
I did. My dad was very controlling, I could not go anywhere. When my parents divorced at 14 y/o. I just did everything what wasn’t right. Around year of 21, I did go to therapy for my childhood. If any parent sees this. I understand you wanna protect your child from all the bad things in this world. But being strict isn’t the answer. Always try to have an open relationship with your child. Let them feel save and free with you and comfortable enough to talk to you. There is already enough bad things in the world. Let you, and your home being the save place and not their nightmare.
I left
I didnt
I didn't have controlling parents.
That's not a best friend that's family at this point. You don't get best friends like that. She is truly an angel
I thought Barbara might be Juliette's secret girlfriend
Love how patiently the friend sat & took all the shit the parents threw at her.
I wish I had a friend like that.
I would snap back
Parents, never force your kids into the career you want them to be in. Let them decide and guide them with love. Expect them to do well in school but don't make them do things just to boost your image. That's wrong and you will regret it later on.
😢
@@HwoarangtheBoomerang dude, I see you everywhere lol
Yeah, let God decide what path your child is meant to go on. If parents just encourage their children to put God first in everything, God will help them succeed.
My mother was strict as hell, and very over protective. When I moved out of her house, I felt free and great!!!
And did you see her ever since?
I wish i can move out but my mom doesn’t allow me
@@weareprojectzorgo if you're 18+ your mom has no right to forbid you anything. As long as you can support yourself you can do whatever you want
@@RoyalZ2504 i can support my self but my mom forbid me to do that
@@weareprojectzorgo she can't legally do that, just move out. She can't stop you anymore. What's she even gonna do?
Her friend is more of family than her own parents. You don't, dare I say, can't find a friend like that today. But they're out there, you just gotta look for the right ones.
One of my pastors said,"Children don't come with a manual." This is so true.
The only way to get out of controlling parents are to just follow your dreams. No matter what. It is difficult, but you get stronger.
The parents were too strict! The stricter The parents, the more the kids are gonna do behind their backs!
You would think so. But I wasn't even able to do stuff behind their backs.
@@HwoarangtheBoomerang Yeap. Mine had cameras, always encouraged the younger kids to watch and tell on me, and kept an eye on phone stuff. And mine was a flip phone! I rebelled regardless of the punishments they threw my way and always got told on for it. When you break the rules you get creative about hiding things, including yourself.
Parents need to understand that their children have to make their own decisions.
Exactly!!! They have to grasp the fact that they have to let their kids live their lives how THEY see fit, & to accept what is. Neither what their kids' lives could be, nor would be, nor should be, nor what they want it to be.
Tell that to the Asian parents
Stop this bs
Your parents job is to guide you to the right path and they are the only ones have the power to judge you when you are wrong.
@@reduneyconceicao3420 parents don't always know what is right
@@niasharp9049 it doesn't matter, stop thinking like that no one knows everything my dear so why would they know everything. The point is that they raised you and feed and they give life, by extension they are ones the who can talk to with authority.
Oh wow! I can't imagine my friend's parents telling me to sit down, lecturing me, and me just sitting there crying.
I can, & why wouldn't you?? It's like people are so adamant about us being exactly like them, they forget 1 very important thing: WE'RE NOT THEM
These parent's are wrong to yell at the friend.
Why are they allowed to yell at the girl that is not their child? What the heck? Some adults are not grown up themselves.

My mom was (and still is at times) overprotective to the point that I couldn't go to sleepovers except for at a family friend's house (that's the Haitian culture) and she initially didn't approve of me dating my current boyfriend, but at least she never dictated what career I would have or who I would marry.
It's one thing to be strict when raising children, it's another thing to be entirely controlling when it comes to your children. Big difference. Strict isn't detrimental to their well being, but controlling can be downright devastating and harmful. I know a woman who always tried being extremely overbearing + overprotective/controlling of her children, and they were honestly well adjusted, well behaved kids. Once they got older, they began rebelling against her. Goes to show that being a controlling parent isn't the answer & is more harmful than helpful.
The parents were so domineering and controlling against their daughter and her friend, she wants to leave this tyrannical family. If there had been compromise before, it would have surely changed the timeline !!!
And I thought only religious parents are tyrants.
@@jasonrandom372 Those are equally guilty too!!
@@jasonrandom372 . . .
If I was this friend, I wouldn’t even give these idiots the time of my day. Especially after how they accused me of being a disruptive influence to her children.
Me neither.
You need to let your children be themselves or else you might just lose them forever!
THE LADY THAT PLAY JULIET IS A SWEETHEART OF A PERSON AND A VERY GOOD ACTRESS AND SHE IS VERY PRETTY TOO
Those two parents were the sickest excuse for parents I've ever seen in this kind of media. They were lucky that they learned in the end and their daughter was willing to see them again. Many people like these two probably never learn, or they do learn but never see their children again.
Controlling parents needs to stay out of their grown-up childrens' lives.....for good.
Awesome message. Every parent should see this. Parental control is not about the parent, but about their child/children. Parents should be strict without being controlling.
They shouldn't be strict either
@@RoyalZ2504 sometimes being strict is necessary to raise children. If a child does something morally wrong, like stealing, or lying to get someone else in trouble, anything that can damage the conscious, the parents have to do what’s necessary to teach them, even if it meant a whooping in the behind.
I grew up with controlling and abusive parents..!!
Im so sorry to hear that
My Mum never ever controlled me. I was always free to make my own decisions. She has always stood by me, and I by her. And that's the way it should be. She has dementia now, and I miss her.
6:02 "And today... *claps* the REAL JULIET, IS REBORN!"
I loved that part!
My mom was also strict, I didn't really understand why I was not able to do many things. But after losing my mom at the age of 17. It was God's grace and mercy that got me through. But over the years I endure everything that satan threw my way. But once I finish school and had my children I realized why mama did some of the things she did. And for that I love her more and more as the days pass by.
My parents are controlling mainly my mum it is frustrating but we have to try get along with parents
the acting in these videos is phenomenal.
Yes, I grew up with controlling parents.
My mum was but she had reasons and thank her for it. I've rebelled a few times but now I'm old enough to make my own mind up

Ooh Sting!!!!!! That's hurtful ouch that's terrible, judgy parents, controlling

Tears of joy in the ending 🙂❤️🙏😔 great friend she has awww
Her parents are way too controlling
Hi
I can def. relate to this whole story.
The trouble w/ some parents is that they can't understand that families are made up of individuals & we have to respect & accept each other's differences. I mean, there's nothing wrong w/ parents wanting their kids to follow in their footsteps, w/ the proviso, of course, that that's what the kids want as well.
After all, life's way too short to be living miserably trying to live other people's personal goals & dreams. In short, life's way too short to be living a lie.
Agreed!
These are my parents I am a girl who have spent entire life under control of them and now what they are saying is they gave me too much freedom lol
Exactly what my mum is like even tho im 18 she still acts controlling pretty much my whole life she was controlling sometimes guess we have to try get along with parents tho
Wow this made me remember how I was raised yes .
Allelujah! That's the way it has to be... Just grow on your own with your parents...not trough your parents.
How can you be unique if your parents create your identitie?
Those two did her soooo dirty, I like the how she asserted herself to the both of them , her friend stood her ground and say her say- no fear nothing.
If the friend is under 18 then the controlling parents should talk to the other girls parents.
Good suggested but are they willing to?
THOSE PARENTS SHOULD NOT BE CONTROLLING TEENAGERS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD TREAT THEM LIKE THAT NOT COOL....😠😢😢👎👎
I got As and Bs in school, not because I wanted to learn and grow, but because I don't want people to think I am a "bad" student. I also thought doing everything right means success. Boy was I wrong. I spent time in school people pleasing, not learning. Thankfully, I am prioritizing what matters to me, not what society thinks of me now. I don't feel proud of my honour roll certificates because they are not authentic to me.
Is it me or does this remind me of the old show 7th heaven? Lol
i remember that show
Yeah, those parents just reminded me so much of the parents on that show
Parents control because the child is inferior, unknown of his/her potential. Once the child realises his own power, then parents will set the child free.
Some parents will not stop controlling their children even if child realises his/her potential.
