- As children set out on the path of learning to talk, socialize, and communicate, the journey already seems remarkable, considering all the various aspects involved. Many parents of late talkers (and non-late talkers alike) felt accomplishing this amid a pandemic, when their child was largely kept out of groups, had more screen time than they would normally allow, been spoken to by masked adults, and intervention came by way of teletherapy, added an extra burden, making it much more difficult and potentially detrimental to communication and development. Researchers are continuing to explore the effects of the pandemic on language and learning. In this episode, Stephen and Collette address parents' concerns regarding the pandemic's effect and its impact on their children's development.
