I don't wanna spoil too much, but there's a redemption arc involved and the girl and the boy go through a lot, separately and together. There's another girl involved who plays an important role in their story. The movie is about society vs love, but a very edgy hard hitting approach to the trope.

This is supposed to make us uncomfortable. The guy is not a good character in the first half. He just uses her and betrays her. All this love was just drama for revenge. Things change when his mom dies and tells him to rectify his mistake by giving Zoya a good life. So he sets out to protect her no matter wat.
