    my doctor told me to use tretinoin every night + BP and clindamycin every morning and it made my acne worse for months! as soon as i started using tretinoin less frequently, my skin started to clear up. thank you for emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy moisture barrier.

    Dear Bekah,
    Your way of expressing is so eloquent and elegant. I have seen retinol themed videos before, but for the first time it's became more clear.
    I love what you say about aging gracefully. 🌞 delighted to have found you.
    Have a radiant day 🧡

    I love all the information in this video. I'm surprised that even with the experience of using retinols and retinald that after using Tretinoin, there was still iritation when using once a week. Did you use any other actives on the non-Tretinoib nights?

    Thanks for showcasing some great options! Would love to hear about your SPF recommendations. I find that as my skin gets dryer and bc I use tret. as well I find many mineral sunscreens drying- and I’m so sensitive to chemical ones. I’m always on the hunt

    I have used an online tretinoin prescription from Dermatica for the last 5 years or so (I am 46 with ultra fair combo skin, some freckles, some past sun damage). I’ve found the online check-ins to be solid (you answer questions and submit photos) and the pricing to be great. They have various partner ingredients depending on concerns (I alternate between hydroquinone and azelaic acid for pigmentation and brightening). In an age where accessibility to dermatologists can be tricky due to insurance, time, distance, etc, I love that these options exist!

    I've been using retinaldehyde products from Avène more or less consistently for twenty years now and at 51 I don't feel the need to step up to prescription tretinoin.
    Even though retinaldehyde is more potent than retinol, I found it much easier to acclimatize to than products with retinol.

    Thanks for also sharing the skin barrier care products as well! I have to be careful with actives due to eczema and sensitive skin, so I always like hearing recommendations for skin barrier protection.

    • @Bekah_Sun
      @Bekah_Sun Год назад +1

      Yes, skin barrier protection is key! I also sometimes use plain aquaphor around my lips or other sensitive areas before I apply retinoids to help protect that skin and keep retinoids from migrating to those areas.

    Excellent video Bekah! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! I'm currently using retinal 5 from Geek & Gorgeous and I like it. The bottle is almost empty and I'll switch to the 10. I did try tret last year and started slow but even like that, my face was burning all the time so I gave up. I was disappointed but I'm happy with what I'm using now and my routine. On a side note, can I be nosy and ask what color lipstick you're wearing? It's gorgeous! And you look so glowy and beautiful as always! Have a wonderful day! ❤

    I've tried various retinols and retinals over the past few years, I liked Medik 8 but it was so expensive. Now I have gotten into Korean ones, I use the Scinic Cica Retinal cream and the Dr Different Retinal which I like. I will never use Tretinoin though, as I have sensitive and dry skin so I can't use strong products. It's great you can get so much over the counter these days

  • @ayameisastar

    My personal opinion: if you want results, real results, skip the otc stuff. Differin and Tretinoin are the only products to produce real results that I’ve ever found (I know differin is available otc in the US now). However, if you’re very happy with your current skin condition and feel only the need to keep things up I’m sure Retinols and other mild products are great, but don’t expect much

    • @Bekah_Sun
      @Bekah_Sun Год назад +5

      Differin wasn't my favorite, but I'm glad it works for you! I've actually read some interesting studies lately that retinals can have similar effects to tretinoin when used consistently. I think that might be why so many brands are launching retinals now. Good news for people who can't tolerate prescription strength!

    • @ayameisastar
      @ayameisastar Год назад +1

      @@Bekah_SunIf I recall you don't get a ton of acne? Cause Differin is targeted for acne and doesn't do as much for wrinkles and anti-aging in my opinion (especially compared to tret). So for someone only looking for anti-aging products I'd agree that Differin isn't super helpful and would recommend OTC retinol products instead.
