- I unbox and review the brand new OBI3 Saber from Korbanth. This beautiful Star Wars, Episode 3 Obi Wan Kenobi replica hilt is installed with a Proffieboard V2.2 in a GOTH3D chassis with a Neo Pixel blade. Whether for display or cosplay this lightsaber is bad to the bone! The colors are bright, the sound is amazing and it’s built like a tank.

His third lightsaber has always been my favorite lightsaber of a jedi
Indeed!
Ooooh yeah. Now I remember why there's random foam peanuts in the dining room. One guy sent me packing bb's. What ever happened to bubble wrap?
Best review on this saber yet! Subscribing for sure!
Thank you!
@@sabersbeatsandbrew hey quick question, is there any drag or melt feature?
Not that I was able to find.
Is it Nylon, Nylon CC, or PLA printed...Ohhhh and your video is WONDEROUS!!!
I’m not sure what the crystal chassis is printed with but the hilt is mostly machined metal and plastic. Thank you for the kind words!
Great video. You made this 62 year olds decision on which saber to buy. My eye's hurt from reading and watching so many videos. 😆 I was going to go with KR empty hilt, liked the quality. And try building one. But got myself lost in what internals and such to go with. Confusing for me.
OK, OK, I'm leaving now. 😆
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it. Yeah it can be overwhelming to look at doing your own build. Hopefully I can get there one day.
Why didn’t you use the real activation switch as the activation switch ? But it’s a really cool lightsaber good job looks amazing bright blade and details on the hilt👍😀
I ordered the installed hilt from Korbanth and that’s just how it came. You’re right, the details are awesome. I watched ROTS last night and it looks spot on compared to the one uses on screen.
Looks amazing and sounds fantastic! The only thing that puts me off buying this is that it has Rey and kylo on it! Can you request not have them on it? Thank you for the brilliant review.
Thank you for the kind words! When I ordered mine I had to put in the comments of the order that I wanted a crystal reveal chassis. I’m sure you could put your request in there. You could also just delete the sound font as well.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew Thank you for your message. I really appreciate it and your help. Not a big lover of the sequel trilogy. Good to know I can delete the fonts. It looks like a stunning Saber. I have always wanted a Luke, Anakin, Obi-wan, Vader, Maul Sabers. Best wishes. May the force be with you 🙏🏽
Same here my friend! IV, V, and VI is what grew up on. I will say I’m very partial to The Clone Wars. I love how they gave context and depth to I, II, and III. And May the force be with you as well.
Idk if im the only one who hears this, but it sounds like he recorded the unboxing amd then voiced over the video. I doubt it, but that voice sounds SO fresh. Like there is no external soumd. If its not a voice over, i NEED to know what mic youre using. Cause the background noise is non existant!!!
But the review is awesome, amd that saber looks dope, been thinking about korbanth for when i buy my next saber
Lol. Well I can help you there my friend. I am not great at multitasking. In order to create a better experience for you with less interruptions and while still keeping the unboxing to one continuous shot with no cuts I recorded me opening the box and then went back and narrated it.
It was important for me to show you exactly how the saber came, packaging and all. The best way I could think to do that was to film it in one take so in essence we were seeing it together for the first time in it’s entirety.
During the unboxing I used the sound from the camera but made sure the HVAC was turned off, etc to lower the overall noise. I also used a noise gate when mixing the audio. The voiceover was done with an AKG C214.
So I’ve bought a couple of different sabers at about the same price point as the Korbanth and so far it’s the best replica build in my opinion.
I hope that helps answer some of your questions and thanks for the comments!

Very cool!
Thanks!
Legendary Review!
Thank you!
Does it include the 3 types of blues?
Guardian Blue = Obi Wan Kenobi E3
Arctic Blue = Anakin Skywalker E3
Cyan Blue = Luke Skywalker E4
For sure it has Guardian Blue. I’m pretty sure the first Rey font is Cyan. I don’t believe there is an Arctic Blue. However, you can always edit/add colors and fonts to the saber.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew Thank you for the response!
Because I am very new to all this, my next question is, by the term, "soundfont", does that include both the audio of whichever character _and_ the color of the lightsaber?
Or does it just imply the audio, hence "sound"font?
That is correct. Lightsaber “fonts” include color, sound, and behavior.
14:20 Hello There
Is there such a lightsaber that can do everything that every saber has done so far with every color and every cell phone that there is does it exist if it does exist and how much..??..?
Maybe. Electrum makes sabers that have an app that allows you to change sounds and colors from your phone. But it’s exclusive to their sounds and behavior, not necessarily ones from the movies. I think Vader’s Vault has an app for their sabers as well but I’ve heard they are pretty expensive with long fulfillment times.
I bought an empty version of this hilt and I can't get the emitter cap to come unscrewed. I want to swap it for the 1 inch blade one but it's stuck or doesn't come off at all. Do only the installed versions have the emitter come off to swap it?
It should unscrew and come off. I thought the only difference between the installed and uninstalled was the chassis and electronics. I’ll do some digging and see what I can find out.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew Yeah mines not coming off at all. Ok thanks for that! I really appreciate any help!
Shoot an email to korbanth47@gmail.com and explain what’s going on. Hopefully they can help you out.
Would you say this saber is worth double the price over Artsabers Obi-Wan?
Can you change the blade activation effect?
I think that depends on what you want to use the saber for. I have not purchased anything from Artsabers yet so I cannot comment on the quality and build. I did look briefly at their site and they look good for the price. I believe the Korbanth version is more true to the movie prop but you shouldn’t duel with it. Artsaber bills their products as duel worthy and they are less expensive, however they don’t look quite as accurate.
Yes you can customize all the blade effects and sound. It’s a little involved and there is a learning curve but the information is out there for you to customize the lightsaber lights and sounds however you like.
Hope this helps!
Is it possible to add the electronics if you buy the empty one?
Yeah it is. You’d have to purchase all the electronics separately and assemble it yourself or find an installer to do it for you. Ronin Sabers and Solo Sabers are both installers that seem to do good work. They are individuals not companies and have channels where they show off their work.
Is that a 1 inch blade ?
I believe so.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew that’s really kool most of them are 7/8 where can I buy the emitter for 1 inch blade?
This is where I got this saber from:
korbanth.com/the-obi3-rots-saber/
Nice review, very detailed. What blade size does the hilt take?
Thank you! The hilt takes a 1 inch diameter blade. The blade I chose was 34 inches in length.
How many fonds does it have?
14 total.
Obi-Wan x2
Qui-Gon
Rey x2
Leia
Dark Saber
Mace Windu
Vader
Palpatine
Kylo Renn
Tie Fighter
Ghostbusters
Lord of the Rings
@@sabersbeatsandbrew thank you and do you know if those are permanent or random to the saber?
The sound board used is a Proffie which is open source. Now there is a learning curve but you can edit the sounds, volume, blade behavior and colors yourself on your computer. There are lots of sites and how to videos out there to help. It’s a little confusing at first but hey, if I’m able to do it anyone can.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew thank you and great video.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew one more question, does the blade sit tight to the handle? Lige can i fx. Swing with out Any worry of it falling out?
Do you know if it's still an 89 sabers hilt?
According to Korbanth it is not an 89 Sabers hilt.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew hmm yeah, i saw them say the new version is from a different vendor. I wonder who it is haha. Thanks for checking.
No problem. The email response I received said it was from “a different factory” they use to make sabers. Either way it’s a very nice hilt IMO.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew Absolutely! I don't think there's much of a difference anyway. In my opinion this one is technically better because of the reinforced thin neck and deeper emitter
@@sabersbeatsandbrew I just received mine yesterday, I love it so much. Cant believe how loud it is, I think I'll need to change that in the settings haha.
The blade seems to not go deeply in. I wonder if that's ok to duel with at all
I would not recommend dueling with it. The blade can only go in so far as the emitter is maybe an inch and a half to two inches deep even with the extension they added. But I would be more worried about the thin neck. The saber is reinforced but I think the neck would still be a point of failure with dueling.
@@sabersbeatsandbrew unfortunate but noted. I guess that would be one for show and spinning then
I think you’d be ok spinning it. It’s just when it comes to full on contact. At that point you’re rolling the dice with $750. I know some companies make full on dueling sabers or stunt sabers. If dueling is what you’re wanting to get out of a product go check out Rebel Sabers. They may have something up your ally. Best of luck!
Well it is a Neo pixel so you really shouldn’t duel anyways
