Instill in them that we have a choice how to react to the outside world and a choice of what emotion to assign to the experience. I personally no longer allow other people or events to dictate my emotions. Through mindfulness & being present, I self observed my reactions and reprogrammed my mind. I have learned that it's my decision whether to allow others or a challenging experience to interrupt my happiness.... and through this observation, I am becoming conscious.
