Never saw the mountains when I lived there. Doubt anyone has. But... Mianyang is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been and I love it very much. The people there are so nice and so welcoming. Would be happy to retire there someday. Also they have Starbucks now which is great. Pro tip: Don't eat most of the street food, better yet just don't unless you know what you are doing. Pro tip 2: If a restaurant is busy it is probably amazing.
Another pro tip just because. If you run into another foreigner, ask them for their phone number, they will give it to you and you will be able to get into the microscopic diaspora community. Great to know where to get cheese, mac & cheese etc... About 140 foreigners in a city of 5 million but they are also very nice. Extra Extra pro tip, avoid Mianyang Normal University work.
Oh also Mianyang style spicy noodles are the best. Also, Mianyang style hot pot is wonderful. Oh and if you get the chance try dry fried pig intestines, super yummy, but only get it from a busy restaurant! Dang I am hungry now. Gotta look at flights!
Thank you for your really kind comments. There are indeed very few foreigners in Mianyang. I think most of them are english teachers. The geographical administrative area of Mianyang is actually very large. You may not have been to some remote areas, such as Pingwu County, where there are snow-capped mountains with an altitude of 4,000 to 5,000 meters and the famous Giant Panda National Reserve. This county is only separated from the famous World Natural Heritage Jiuzhaigou by a mountain.
I assure you that the natural scenery in the video is from Mianyang and I have visited many of them before:) The natural landscapes in Mianyang are very wonderful, but they are in the mountainous areas with the worst road conditions. Fortunately, the expressway from Mianyang city to Pingwu was opened last year, and the traffic conditions in the mountainous areas have improved a lot. Maybe one day you can pay a visit to the most remote county of Mianyang and then go to Jiuzhaigou.
