Really nice video but personally I wouldn't call it a tragic love story. They were both horrible and selfish people, the only difference was that he admitted it to himself and to others but she would always deny it. That's the point of this story, they're all pretty unlikable people who've all done something horrible. Still a nice video though
I agree with most of the comments posted here. Great video, thanks for posting it. Lombard and Claythorne are nasty pieces of work, Lombard probably would be classified as a sociopath,. Claythorne a manipulative and ruthless golddigger and both are clearly shown to be murderers and worthy of the punishment inflicted on them by Mr. Owen. This version of the story gets my vote as the best adaptation of the novel to date, though I still love the 1945 version which was based on the stage adaptation. And lets not forget the excellent performances both actors gave here, which are certainly Emmy/BAFTA caliber.
@@oliverrasmusson2362 Hugo was too poor to marry her and Hugo was originally going to get the money inheritance but then Cyrill, the cousin, was born and he didn't get the money. Vera knew that if she killed Cyrill, Hugo would be rich enough to marry her. She's a sociopath but she did murder out of love
Nice work and I can easily picture Aiden Turner as James Bond. Edit: I recently watched this show and I had to come back to this video. I was hooked the moment I started watching it and I enjoyed the performances by the entire cast. I know there was no set up for a relationship in the book but in the context of the film it worked as its more out of necessity and survival that they end up together. Its also fitting really when you consider their past deeds and how far they will go in order to obtain what they want. The music choice in this video is spot on, this affair was doomed from the start.
I found this take on the original story to be well done and entertaining however the love interest between Vera and Lombard was just to unbelievable to me. The last thing anyone would want to do is make love to someone else when everyone is systematically being murdered around you and you could very well be next, and whats worse, that person you're sleeping with could be said murderer.
Bonesie i totally agree. As far as i remember, in the book there was no love story between the two of them. Am i right? The movie is so much different.
There might have been, given time--there's definitely a flirtation on Lombard's part, and he thinks when he first sees her that "he'd rather like to take her on."
It's pretty much obligatory at this point--the first movie established them as a couple, and the 60s movie that they got physical (although the Russian version makes it less than consensual on Vera's part).
Yσмι Mαѕαкι In the original book Philip is never described as handsome, but Anthony is compared to looking godly with his looks. I guess as more adaptations they made Philip more of an eye candy since Anthony is always the first killed off
Aji Kurnia In the book, he was described as a god, handsome, and having prefect proportions. So she/he is not judging Anthony Marston by the name, but by the book description.
Its close enough and it's better than "And then there were none" (1945) when Vera and Philip survive and leave the island. Some other notable changes include Philip's murder, Mr. and Mrs. Roger's murder, Vera's death and Blore's death and murder. In my opinion, they should not have changed Philip's 21 men murder for diamonds and Mr. and Mrs. Roger's pillow suffocating. Though, I agree for Vera's death how she was hanged and Blore's death because a marble clock is just uncreative.
In the russian version from 1987 there is also some tension between them. They have sex in that movie, but there is no romantic feelings tbh. If I remember correctly it was nothing between them in the book, but haven't been reading it since 10 years ago or something.
This was more of a sexual relationship, Lombard admired the physics of Vera so did Vera and they were very stressed out in that Island so what they did was more to relax.
I loved the video, very well done. But it's not a tragic love story! They were not in love (maybe Phillip was a little) but attracted to each other, and they probably also stayed together out of need. Need for companionship and someone to trust etc...
I think Phillip actually had feelings for her, but she doesn't. Despite of what he is, he is shown to be a very sincere man. She, however, was just using him because she knew he could protect her.
+GillyBeanDances Im sorry i dont. But there are plenty of website that you can use to download vids from youtube. :) Feel free to download this one if you want:)
Thanks for this, I really wish I could have more of this show or people recognize it's gold for what it is, I also thank the pirate bay for introducing it to me! HaHAH! ;)
" Lombard said: "Come on, hand it over." His quick brain was working. Which way-which method-talk her over-lull her into security-or a swift dash- All his life Lombard had taken the risky way. He took it now. He spoke slowly, argumentatively. "Now look here, my dear girl, you just listen-" And then he sprang. Quick as a panther-as any other feline creature. . . Automatically Vera pressed the trigger Lombard's leaping body stayed poised in mid-spring, then crashed heavily to the ground."
Oh great. I read the book and had to wrap my head around Hugo and Vera. Next, I see THIS and what now?! Vera and Lombard? LOMBARD?!!!!! ARE THESE PEOPLE INSANE?!!!!!! VERA ELIZABETH CLAYTHORNE WITH PHILIP LOMBARD!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!

He`s anything and anyone he wants /needs to be ...that`s his talent . All that in one glorious human being
Yet in the book, for some reason... I still liked Vera, Lombard, Wargrave, and Blore.
trha2222 Of course it was.
in the show, in the book all of the characters are just people with a common enemy
megamovieman101 Hey dude! What are you doing here? xD

mark60123 claythorne didn't kill for money she killed so she could get married. She killed for love (even if Hugo didn't lover her back after )
@@pastelmeifwa9117 she killed a child so that her lover could inherit the money. That is definetly not love especially since it was her lover nephew.

Yup! The only people who were "in love" were the married servants

I thought Anthony masrston was supposed to be the sexy one but Lombard 😍🔥🔥

Guess we can't judge a person appearance by the name

I always thought Lombard looks like a pirate
I imagined him looking like Elder Cunningham from the book of mormon musical for some reason
this never was a love story
A RB It actually was. They were growing a romantic bond at first, but then it quickly ended when they were the last two on the island
Majestic_Princess in the Agatha Cristy Novel, There was never any sort of bond the two had. This was thrown in for drama

This guy would be a perfect James Bond when he's a little older..
omg that women is crazy she shot Lombard 5 times in the book it said that she shot him only one time in the heart killing him instantly
Bonnie the pirate Ikr
Bonnie the pirate but could you tell me ... so that means she killed lombard ... and then killed her self ... but who killed all the others ?
Lynda Xena wargrave killed others
Heppahullu 3243 oh my gosh really !!!!? i wasn't waiting for this ... waw
Lynda Xena same :D i'm confused

Very well done, so haunting, and that music-what is it? Haven't seen as good a fanvid as this in years.
+GillyBeanDances Thank you so much and the music is just a violin melody i found on youtube :)
+staceynwriter do you have a fanvid site by any chance (other than on here)? Im a bit oldschool and love to download and keep favourite fanvids :)

Lombard was my favorite in the book
He's so badass
He was the one most truthful
He admitted what he did, rather than finding excuses like others
I like the counting down element in this
This is really put together well
The wiser thing for Lombard to do was to simply walk away from Vera when she's holding the gun. At the very least, it would have made her uncertain.
" Lombard said:
"Come on, hand it over."
His quick brain was working. Which way-which method-talk her over-lull her
into security-or a swift dash-
All his life Lombard had taken the risky way. He took it now.
He spoke slowly, argumentatively.
"Now look here, my dear girl, you just listen-"
And then he sprang. Quick as a panther-as any other feline creature. . .
Automatically Vera pressed the trigger
Lombard's leaping body stayed poised in mid-spring, then crashed heavily
to the ground."
I liked who Vera pretended to be not what she actually was.
Lombard was like "I'd take a go at her" *insert Lenny face*
So good! Thanks
The music I see haunting
