Hello everyone! This is the first video of a planned 14-15 video series on cardiovascular physiology (Playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLYojB5NEEakWY3ZS0acDMw4nbEZV-y7pk ). Each video is 15-30 minutes in length. It's starting at the basics so that viewers with different backgrounds (e.g. high school vs. undergrad, premed vs. non premed, etc...) can have the same background knowledge before deep dives on subsequent topics. The tentative list of video topics: Overview of the CV system (i.e. this video) The Cardiac Action Potential Excitation-Contraction Coupling Cardiac Mechanics (preload, afterload, contractility, ejection fraction) The Cardiac Cycle and PV Loops (including cardiac work) Hemodynamics Viscosity and Turbulence Arterial Blood Pressure Nervous System Regulation of the Cardiovascular System Hormonal Regulation of the Cardiovascular System Integration of CV Regulation (i.e. complete description of what your CV system does during exercise, dehydration, septic shock, weightlessness, etc...) Vascular Biology Coronary Circulation The Microcirculation and Lymphatics Cardiac Embryology If this is successful, the following stage would be to intersperse path and pharm topics into the playlist (e.g. pathophysiology of heart failure following cardiac mechanics, atherosclerosis following vascular biology, etc...), with the eventual goal of replicating the content of a medical school CV organ block. Let me know what you think!
I teach anatomy and physiology to high school students. Much of what Dr. Strong covers in his videos is beyond the scope of my course. However, his videos represent the epitome of what educational RUclips videos should look like. There is no "flash" or "bang" to distract the viewer, just high-quality graphics accompanied by his clear and concise instruction. He is clearly a person who is committed to education. Thank you, Dr. Strong for your efforts, and keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for the kind words! You've probably already discovered this, but Crash Course Anatomy & Physiology is pretty good and seems close to high school level. Also, the channel Corporis doesn't have a complete A&P playlist, but has some great stand alone videos at the high school and college level, including some interesting ones on the history of medicine.
@@StrongMed I am indeed familiar with both of those channels. While Crash Course is excellent, I have a couple of problems with it. The speed of narration can be overwhelming for some students. They really try to pack a lot of information into a 10-15 minute video. Additionally, some of the animations are superfluous and distracting at times. I feel that many of my students would appreciate the very clear, systematic approach that you use. Some of your videos I could certainly use for my class, most go above and beyond what my students are ready for. I really enjoyed your introductory video on hemostasis. It provides a better foundation for the topic than anything I have read in the A & P textbooks. I could use this video, the subsequent videos are more than likely too much for my students. I plan to watch the whole series this summer. I find the topic very complex, frustrating, yet interesting. Keep doing what you do. I haven't visited Patreon yet, but I plan on doing so. Thank you!
I'm not a leg man, compliments from me are as rare as water in the Gobie Desert, IN SHORT,.....this youtube chanel is one of the most profound medical contributions for learning I've come across,...for studying, this is my 2021 highlight, to say Way Cool.....is an understatement. Paul
Thank you so much , definitely helping in my recertification exams as I have forgotten the basics in the past 20 years while pursuing another specialty, feel like an excited med school student while watching these videos , you definitely are one of the best teachers I have come across
Dr. Strong, seeing this video is three years old most likely you will not see my commit, however this retired mechanic who has heart problems is very great full for your work, thank you. (my apologies for the long Greek sentence)
@@BelleHealingMusic I aced all my tests and got 99th percentile on boards. I was an excellent student. My teachers still sucked and i had to learn everything on my own lol
😊 well said. Surely theyd assigned a textbook or 16 where one could study themselves and learn applicable material. Lecture is most effective if it s supplemental resource - not main /only study resource @BelleHealingMusic
This is so helpful, you've essentially shortened the lecture that my teacher provided by explaining the structure and parts of the heart from almost 50-60 minutes (without the cardiac cycle and histology) to 30 minutes
This is a fantastic lecture of this topic. I found myself revisit this lecture again and may be again. This lecture is unrivaled. I thank you Dr Strong very much.
wow this helped me out massively!! i found it hard to understand my teacher when she was explaining the cardiovascular system and never had a clue what she was on about, until i found this video 2 weeks before my a level exam, which is on the 25th of may 2023! thank you so much for making videos like these, will be returning for more :)))
Thank you very much Dr Eric Strong, especially to review this , I am looking forward to watch this series of you. I pretty know EKG from your EKG series , you are great teacher/instructor indeed.
Thankyou so much sir!!!❤ This absolutely a very helpful and an outstanding presentation... Got all cleared out on the concepts and learned a lot only in one go all thanks to your amazing teaching and presenting skills😊❤️
Thank you dr eric for your lectures, I hope to include POCUS of the heart and later on U/S of the lungs to your lecture series. Or can you make a series of lectures about basics of ultrasound and then its application "POCUS".
Thanks for the suggestion! I 100% agree that POCUS is an important and undervalued part of medical training. It's on my master list of topics to cover here on the channel, but truthfully, it feels like for every topic I finish and post, 2 more ideas get added!
Here's an introductory video on histology from Corporis I recommend: ruclips.net/video/S59JwFCjNhc/видео.html And if you want something with more detail, here is one from The Noted Anatomist: ruclips.net/video/0U5J_unEM-Q/видео.html

Thank you Dr. Strong - outstanding and appreciated.
sir I watched your 8 videos on playlist, but when will you upload the rest of them.
Need lecture about principle of TEE and PCI thank you
I appreciate the pace, depth and overall delivery of your work and have subscribed - please don’t change a thing and keep them coming thank you ❤

Seriously, I should have had YOU as a teacher in medical school. This video really drops. Exceptionally well done.
What an outstanding lecture! I salute your parents and teachers for producing such an knowledgeable person.

Thank you so much. I have a test tomorrow and this video completely saved my life.
I'm taking an EKG class and I have to remember all the names, locations, functions and this has diffently helped me understand it more. Thank you.

One of the most great videos in my medical tour
if this dude gave my lectures in med school i might have actually entered residency with some practical knowledge..
yes
Always that teacher is the problem... perhaps if you had been a different kind of student

I have listened to some great lectures, but this guy is a gem in human form!!! Where were you hiding sir?????
this one video covered 3 weeks worth of lecture material I did not think I would ever understand into 28 mins.
This is so helpful, you've essentially shortened the lecture that my teacher provided by explaining the structure and parts of the heart from almost 50-60 minutes (without the cardiac cycle and histology) to 30 minutes
Such a clear and thorough lecture for someone who wants to review the CVS or learn the basics!! Thank you very much, Dr. Strong!!
This is a fantastic lecture of this topic. I found myself revisit this lecture again and may be again. This lecture is unrivaled. I thank you Dr Strong very much.
This is literal gold! Thank you so much; I'm really enjoying your cardiovascular content!

Please if there is evaluation test share it
Not sure what you mean. An assessment to see if you understand the material presented in the video? If so, I'm sorry but I don't have one.
@@StrongMed yeah its all about that assessment. BUT thank you for your studies.
I want the video for type of tissues

Are you gonna make a video on your opinions of the AstraZeneca vaccine? I think it would be really interesting.
My opinion of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine: I'm glad I was able to get Pfizer's...
Seriously though, maybe once/if it's authorized in the US, I'll tackle it. But its whole story is a bit of a cluster. I don't understand how a major company could make such unforced errors with something this big.

Thank you 🙏
Well explained
Thank you ❤
Thanks for the video
