  • Making a big cut to reduce the height on a friend of mine's beginner ficus, which had been purchased at a big box store. This will cause new buds to push and create better taper of the trunk in the long run.

      Thanks Matt, I was worried it might not make it to Tony. Your White Oak acorns looked nice and healthy, good idea packing them already in soil.

      This was worth a try. On computer try going to my channel, next to my channel pic it says "More about this channel" there should be a way to communicate without interruption.
      I don't think it shows up on YT app.

      Thanks Gavin, I will be looking after the tree soon this summer to give it some direct sunlight, as it's a friend of mine's tree and she doesn't have an outdoor space to grow it.
      Funny you commented when you did, I literally just watched your recent Japanese maple and chopsticks video hours ago on another profile.

      Sounds like a good plan and I think over time you'll have a good tree on your hands.
      I do like Japanese Maples as bonsai and whenever a chance comes along, I always like to add a few more toy collection. I never buy them as Bonsais but rather small garden trees. That way I can style them in my way from a young age.
      Thanks for watching.
      All the best.

    what is the material that you covered the cut with ?

    • @DeciduousSnurb
      @DeciduousSnurb  4 месяца назад +1

      I covered the cut with a type of putty called "Duct Seal." It is cheap at hardware stores and it works alright. But in this case it wasn't entirely necessary since ficus produce their own sealant/sap.

    Porq le tapas por donde has cortado?

    • @DeciduousSnurb
      @DeciduousSnurb  Год назад

      Buena pregunta. Apliqué sellador al corte para que pueda sanar más rápido.
      Para los ficus, esto no es del todo necesario porque producen savia de látex que también ayuda a curar heridas.
      Gracias por el comentario.

    Can you root that cutting? If so how?

    • @DeciduousSnurb
      @DeciduousSnurb  11 месяцев назад

      Good question. Yes, Ficus are really easy to root. Funny you asked, here in a week or two I should be uploading a video of me doing just that.
      But you basically can just stick in well draining soil and it will root.

    I am sure it must be done but That looks horrifying to me lol i dont think k can do that. 😅

    • @DeciduousSnurb
      @DeciduousSnurb  Год назад +3

      I understand some might think it is a huge cut to the tree but Ficus are fast healers and produce latex sap that also aids in healing.
      Thanks for your honesty 👍 and for watching.
