    Hey Bethany! I'm doing my AS Levels now and am going to be applying for university in the UK next year (I'm from Malaysia). I was wondering what I needed to read up on before applying to Oxford because I'm not taking Law in A Levels.

      Hi Victoria! You don't need to have any prior law knowledge before your interview. I would recommend reading 'Letters to a Law student' (Nicholas J McBride).

    Hi, I was just wondering if you have any advice on what things to include in your personal statement/application? I will be applying to Oxbridge later on this year and am currently trying to get as much experience as possible. Is there anything in particular you'd recommend doing? Congrats on getting an interview by the way and I hope you enjoy the University you choose :)

      Hey Charlotte, thanks! I'd recommend visiting a crown court or magistrates near you, as it allows a valuable insight into law in practice! I would also recommend 'letters to a law student' (Nicholas J.McBride) as its filled with advice for those wanting to study law, and for oxbridge applicants. As for your personal statement, make it as personal and unique as possible, you want to make it stand out amongst hundreds of others.

    Great and informative video. I have forwarded it to my son who is currently doing A levels and hoping to either be a solicitor or barrister in the future. . Did you get an offer in the end? Thanks for sharing.

      Unfortunately I didn't, but its important to remember that Oxford isn't the only good university out there, and your son should know this too :) Im currently deciding between Durham and Nottingham now...

    Hi! Was wondering how you answered the question about why law and not ppe?:)

    • @bethanymilne2501
      @bethanymilne2501  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Asia, ultimately the question comes down to your personal reasons for choosing law. I talked about the independence of the judicial branch from political bias, something I find off-putting; but on reflection I would recommend shifting the focus of your answer to 'why law' as opposed to 'why not PPE?' as this hopefully will give you lots more to talk about (working to bring justice for individual cases, protecting human rights...etc) Hope this is helpful!

    Hello, you're obviously quite a high achieving student so I feel like you'd be a good person to ask🤗 I'm currently in my GCSE year at school and I hope to study law also at a Russell group (possibly oxbridge, I don't know yet😅). I just wanted to ask about how you revised, when you starting revising and any tips you might have for GCSE? Any advice you have I would really appreciate, thanks!☺️

    • @bethanymilne2501
      @bethanymilne2501  8 лет назад +6

      Katie Adamson I would say that's it's never too early to start revising, in fact it's best if you really make sure you understand everything as your going along, going over difficult topics in particular. I revised with mind-maps, but especially by reading my notes aloud, and teaching myself that way. I would really encourage you not to get stressed as that won't be productive, if you work hard and don't leave it all until the end I'm sure you'll do great!

    • @bethanymilne2501
      @bethanymilne2501  7 лет назад

      I didn't unfortunately! I would recommend reading 'Letters to a Law student' by Nicholas J McBride, its really helpful about all the stages of becoming a law student.

      Bethany Uppal thanks for the recommendations. If you don't mind, did they tell you or do you know what might've been the reason for not getting accepted?

      Hi Bethany,
      I'm a current prospective law student who has applied to oxford. If you don't mind me asking, did oxford give you feedback of why you may not of gotten in?
      Also what were your university choices when you applied and which university did you end up choosing in the end?
      Thanks
