This game would be a lot more playable if it didn't send you back to the beginning of the stage every time you lose 1 life unless you got a smart bomb (in which case you stay where you left off)! This game is still tons of fun though.
Lulu TheMiniMuse Really? Because I've played many 80s and 90s shmups. And usually when losing a life, if you get sent back, you get sent to a checkpoint. It just bothers me that this game doesn't do that. Even the original Star Soldier had checkpoints in the levels.
Holy crap. I never knew about this game. I knew about Blade Buster thanks to VirtualNES(dead online NES emulator), but I never knew Blade Buster was based on this game until minutes ago.
This is the worst of the three. I put Final Soldier on top of the list. Even better music, not only in the first stages, I like the level design better, it has a nice weapon selection menu and its hard but not as unforgiving as Soldier Blade.
Hey, Konami (which bought Hudson) is getting into the business of publishing indie games, so do you think indie developers could contact them about making farmed-out sequels to obscure Konami/Hudson properties like Star Soldier and Knightmare?
I wholeheartedly second this notion and I believe they have recently sought submissions from indie devs to remake/continue old Konami franchises, one of which I believe is Maze of Galious. I would love a new Knightmare game in the style of the original. I'm here because I have JPN PSN credit and I'm considering picking up the PCE Super Star Soldier and the PS1 version of either Castlevania Chronicles or Strider 2 from the JPN PSN Store for PS3.
Not, but it feels like it is. Strange enough, even the 3 Soldier games have very different delevop teams. I can only find Mr. Hashi on 2 games for composing.

But at least you have unlimited continues, unlike the original NES one where you only had 3 lives.
TailsFan109 but that was the case with a lot of old school gsmes 😂

Lulu TheMiniMuse you need to go back to school learn how to spell the word "games"
Just picked this game up for rather cheap! Can't wait to get back home and pop it in my PC Engine

One of the best shooters ever.
2nd stage best song ever, i reached the stage 4 and i am looking forward this game is amazing
Super Star Soldier with new weapons, clean music, almost without shot noises on my channel in the PC Engine playlist
I FRIGN' LOVE THIS GAME, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST STAGE TRACK
one of the hardest shoot'em up ever! ;)
First stage has the best song ever ;-;!
AWW YES!!!
I remember this game. This was cool AF
I still have this, great game
I play Super Star Soldier on Turbografx-16 is a awesome shoot em up and my number 1 all-time favorite Turbografx-16 Card Game
I play it from the wii virtual console version I bought years ago
Got it 😎
Classic space shooter. Hard as hell though. I can't get past Stage 4.
Does anyone else see a similarity with Blazing Lasers? Except I played both on my TurboGrafx mini and this one is way harder.
Always wondered if Soldier Blade or Super Star Soldier are the better game
Hucast Games soldier blade, hands down

@@2kBofFuni think Soldier Blade is the best of the 3 . Also one of the solid shoot em ups title in the whole pc engine library hands down .
Why lasers showing on screen on video only in 2 sides, but in game on 3? For me same... It is visual glitches of emulators?
"KANEKO" Nya.
Great music!!!
Vangelis is music, Iron maiden are music, Mozart is music... This is a childish crappy music.
fuck you and your narrow mind
Robert S your 2014 video about Mortal Bowling seems more childish
Gonna order this one soon! I have Final Soldier, but this one looks way better and is reasonably priced from my Japan guy.

Who played this? Love me some retro shmups! :D
Neo Caeser Mirip Fire Leo Thunder Force
I wonder whether Star Soldiers is the sequel to Gunhed?
Not, but it feels like it is. Strange enough, even the 3 Soldier games have very different delevop teams. I can only find Mr. Hashi on 2 games for composing.
@SolarSystemGamingMay Da fuq?
