People should really listen to him about the career path of a fighter. This is what a management team does. The idea is for Vergil to become World Champion. Fighting Brook does little if anything to move him closer toward that goal. They have a direct path on “we beat X, then that could set up a fight with Y, which would make us mandatory to Z.” Z is the big factor, they know Spence or Crawford are extremely difficult opponents and often (to be candid) fighters will wait it out until someone relinquishes, thus making them eligible to fight for the vacant belt. This is the “business” side of thing. Fighting Crawford, Spence, (and especially Boots) is career suicide with respect to their current path..and trust me this is the same as virtually every current/former champion. It’s just how boxing go.

@@MATON509 actually it’s not because boots called him out and his team said he needs 48months. Boots can do everything Ortiz can but Ortiz can’t do anything boots does. Ortiz could have a title shot right now seems he’s scared though. Makes no sense to petition to fight Keith Thurman for a wbc title eliminator fight when he’s already the WBO mandatory that’s let’s me know they don’t think he’s ready

Real Vergil Ortiz fans know why they parted ways with Robert if you put two and two together and I don’t blame them… all I’m gonna say is Robert, you shouldn’t have said that publicly… regardless whether it was true or not, you should have kept it private bro

I think that Vergil had been taking too many shots for his dads liking and they decided to go elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. You’ll definitely last longer in this sport if you’re taking less shots.

I would've had a problem with Virgil Ortiz if he had left Roberto Garcia for many Robles if had not had Virgil Ortiz sr in his corner. Because in my opinion Roberto Garcia is a better trainer than Robles. Not that I think Manny Robles is a bad trainer, he's also an excellent trainer. I love the way Manny Robles trains his fighter to hit hard where Robert Garcia has a better technical style. But like Virgil Ortiz said he's number 1 in his son's corner and he's damn good trainer himself. So I expect Virgil Ortiz to have continue success until he fights Crawford. I think Crawford style will be very challenging for Virgil Jr. Same goes for Spence. I think Virgil has a flood chance against ugas but not without giving ugas his props too. Ugas can also definitely beat Ortiz especially after his big win against Manny Pacquiao.

With 2 best B.C.es, in his inventory background V.O is otw to achieving his optimum development to be a champ n a legend. Canello n Reynoso n those sparring partners in Reynoso's Camp are all the figures V.O can learn from to take him to a higher pedestal of greatness. Then time will tell how far he can fare in his journey to the level of greatness n legendary making.

Trust me, these trainers are well-versed in their opponents tendencies, fighting style, power, etc. i laugh how they always downplay watching tape but any trainer would be a fool to put his fighter in with no Intel on who he is fighting. UNLESS it is such a mismatch it simply doesn’t matter.
