    Was waiting for this vid! Awesome! I’m a little biased towards the Pitchfork, but having other harmonies available is great, plus in “dual” mode the other harmonies are not just what they say, but are specific like 5th/octave, m7/M6up, etc. which can be very inspiring! Add in exp out and “latch” and you’ve got a packed winner! Haha

To much of the demos on the mix anymore. No one wants to hear I finished mix of s product. We want to hear raw what it sounds like out of the box not what it sounds like processed through a computer. I need headphones. I stand alone liking the sub-n-up. It has some volume stuck but I thought the tone was the cleanest and least colored. The TCE seemed to not color or emphasize the additional harmonics. The Ehx pedals sounded synthy. I wonder if pairing these with the Ehx Knockout (one of the greatest pedals made) would clean these up. I do like the expression pedal option with the pitch fork, octave and whammy in one package. I also like the dry out on the Pog; dry to the pedal board and then to the guitar amp, wet to a bass amp. Great video, thanks for this.

    Most interested in the low octave, from listening carefully I think tc seems too woolly, no attack/punch and notes don’t cut off immediately, so staccatos are impossible. Pog sounded better on the chord but pitch fork had best attack for single lines.

    • @zed739
      @zed739 5 лет назад +1

      The Pitchfork looks like your best bet and you can get it fast through Sweetwater, but if you don't route it through a bass amp then you'll get the tone but not the oomph, which imo is the whole point of a bass player. Unfortunately bi-amping is a whole other can of worms that I don't recommend putting the effort into for just a short-term fix. You might be better off finding a temp bass player, using a backing track, or just doing without.

    Nice video. I am not at all surprised at the dismal sounds coming from the Sub n Up because the sub knobs were set way too high. I tried both the POG and the Sub n Up (but not the Pitchfork) and IMHO I got a better sound from the Sub n Up with the Sub 1 set at about 10 o'clock, beyond that it starts to become too bassy for me(Sub 2 was useless to me). Conversely the POG's Sub Oct needed to be set higher (at about 2 o'clock+) to get more lows. I'm just saying that the bass kicks in way sooner on the TC electronic and should not be set identical to the EHX products to get the same result (ex; like the bass setting on a Roland amp vs Fender amp). BTW I really liked the EHX POG, costs more but probably worth it.

    The Sub'n'Up sounds really compressed and muddied to me. The Pitch Fork sounded good clean, however when hit with a wall of fuzz, compressed a lot more than the POG did. For the cash, I'd say the Pitch Fork still reigns supreme, even though you seem to lose just a smidgen of the audio quality and some people purchasing won't benefit from some of the features it has because they're so eclectic. I do want something that has the ability to blend BOTH an octave up AND down though, so there's that part of me that's wanting to have a POG married to a Pitch Fork..

    is it just me or do all of the octave ups sound bad?

      I think the octave up sounds horrible when he plays that g chord

    I would go with the pitch fork and then the sub n up and pass on the pog

    Dude if your going to do a comparison at least make it fair. You made the sub n up sound more artificial cause you have the octave up up to high on it. When using the octave down you had it turned way up on the ehx pedals but barely at all on the sub n up. You need to at least try to equal the levels put

    I ordered a Sub n Up this morning, then watched this video and almost regretting it, although I'll primarily be using it with fuzz and in this demo it sounded good with fuzz. Clean settings I preferred the EHX pedals. Of course they're quite a bit more expensive, too.

    I’m highly disturbed by your resemblance to Chris Elliot and Burger Planet. I’m sonically enticed, but visually I have to look away. Good vid.

    Micro Pog was woah. I own a pitchfork and now I feel like I need a POG. I normally love TC pedals but that sounded rough compared to the EHX pedals.

      the POG is great for jack white's tone

      60 Cycle Hum slamming plus by ehx

      oh, the pitchfork in a exp pedal, yeah thats just a coincidence lol. I honestly think its better to use an external exp with the pitchfork than the Slammi. You loose the momentary settings with the slammi.

    • @Josbornevonosborne
      @Josbornevonosborne 6 лет назад +1

      60 Cycle Hum meant to say slammi, auto correct made it slamming lol. I don't know a lot about these kind of pedals, I use very traditional sounds

    I don't like the way the Sub 'n' Up sucks the life out of the signal, but love the Pitchfork's liveliness. With the fuzz in the pre- position, the two EHX pedals reminded me of some of Jon Lord's more aggressive sounds, so would be good for bands covering Deep Purple with no keyboard player.
    Hideous shirt, by the way. Please burn it (and film it so we can be sure it's dead).
