Documentary on the tour of the Tülü Ensemble in Colombia in 2017 THÉÂTRE JORGE ELIÉCER GAITÁN (Bogota) and CIMETIÈRE MUSÉE SAN PEDRO (Medellin)
Tülü, a transdisciplinary, participatory work by Pierre Redon, combines mapping and musical creation. It draws its inspiration from a turkish nomad rug-making philosophy and technique by the same name.
Natural symbolism linked to the body is manifest in the Tülü. The warp symbolize the lymph, the weft the blod, the knots the flesh and the fleece the body.
The composition of the piece is based on these four movements. Tülü, is a concert that plunges us into a very instinctive ancestral universe where atypical instruments such as sorud, sarangui, traditional flutes, rub shoulders with drums, double bass and electronic composition. This sound experience takes us on a journey through a world full of symbolism and ritual.
Following the concert the participants are invited to give a strand of hair and a drawing on the theme of the birth. The hair preserves the memory of our ancestors and is sewn onto felt shepherds' capes that represent the seven continents.
This ritual evokes what certainly gave birth to the Tülüs, from the time when shamans in animist rituals, appeared hairy capes to become animals. After the collection phase around the world, the work will end with the production of a contemporary Tülü.
The drawings will be used to create a background map and the wicks will be inserted into the carpet at the geographical coordinates of the donor’s place of birth.
