Happy birthday, Dr. Bill Bruford! Thank you for all these years of great music! I am 59 and have been blessed by your music all my life. May God bless you with good health and a long happy life!
Each instrument singing and dancing in a syncopating marvel of music and rhythms. One of my favourites. Many Happy returns and long may the music speak to us.
If only Phil Collins had not been quite so ubiquitously successful in the main part of his career, he could have possibly developed his drum mimicking skills to match up with Bill. Sadly Phil is getting up there and has his health problems and the neurological degeneration from his constant playing and touring for over three decades has given Bill Bruford the win. They toured together on the Genesis - _A Trick Of The Tail tour_ ,with Bruford on Drums so Phil could take over the lead singer role (look for videos, the _Seconds Out_ live album butchers Bill down to almost nothing. The official Genesis _Seconds Out_ tour video features Bill opening and closing, good stuff)
Love this. Saw Earthworks twice and Bill multiple times including on his Gradually Going Tornado tour. Great guy and one of all time favorite drummers. Happy Birthday
I was starting to think…”here’s just another post of the same song”, but then the solo kicked in.👍. Happy I watched it and read the insightful description
@@LeDoctoer the 1970's - 1980's was such a time of change and growth in music. So many all time great bands and artists, experimenting, trying everything, every year something new and different. Genesis is one of my favorites from this time, started with Bee Gees sounds on their first couple of songs, became the epitome of "prog rock", went totally mainstream pop, ended with a few experimental "prog - pop" long tracks on their last two albums, now "retired".
I usually don't like it when a drum solo ends with a pause, but this particular pause really kicked it. It seems to emphasize the vigor that both the ensemble parts and the drum solo have.
Wow, Bill - this was fascinating. High art at the drumkit. Had I continued playing I might have pursued a "flat" drumkit like what you were doing then and watching this, it almost makes me wish I had!
Bill saw a Symphonic orchestra and noticed how the timpani player could play rhythms with their left hand easier so he assembled the toms that way,Tama already had the cable hi hat stand so he got one and it made sense to put it in the middle where it wasn’t in the way of anything
Happy birthday, Mr Bruford. Have a great day/ 75 years and never missed a beat!!!!!!!!!!!! tHANK YOU
I think that Bill likes his jazz stuff the best
This is where his playing is suited the best IMO.
Yeah he be always dropping Earthworks in his interviews...
Bill Bruford strikes again!
Bill's drumming has always been on a totally different level.
Dynamic, unique, unpredictable, syncopating, instruments mind sharing, discussing, percussing, conversing, diverging, improvising, merging, diversifying. Keep doing your loving spontaneouties❤!
Happy birthday Maestro!!

Thanks for all the great music over the years. My personal favorite was Yes. Glad to see you're still going strong.
Bill was great in _Yes_ but don't forget their "other drummer" - Allan White r. i. p.
@@williestyle35 Great era in music. Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Renaissance, just to name a few of my favorites.

Happy birthday 🎂 🎁🎉🎈Bill-- thanks for sharing another excellent performance from the Earthworks band.
life-altering, wonderful capture of an incredible moment.
Best drummer of his generation, and Bill's "rivals" were amazing...

Wishing a happy birthday to my #1 drummer from Chile!
Great video.
Happy Birthday!!! 🎉
Happy birthday to the genius Dr B. Tomorrow Grumpy Old Rick and Sunday Pete Townshend.
It's full of dynamism and I'm drawn to the generous differences in each sound 😎🤓
Thank you Mr. Bruford! Also love that the song title comes from a line in the old Chinese Buddhist poem "Precious Mirror Samâdhi"
This drum setup makes so much sense to me. I need to try something like this.
Bill !!!
I Don't like this kind of jazz, but Bill never disappoints!
🙌👏👏👏👏👍💯

フラットにセットした、タムが、Mr.ビルのジャズ・ドラマーとしての、真骨頂ですね❗
The title is taken from zen liturgy, “Song of the Jewel Mirror Samadhi.”
LOVE the central hi-hat. Is the story behind it well-known? 🇬🇧

@@angelgarcie that’s great, thanks Angel 🫡
Quiero tocar así
Solo reminds me of Orgy In Rhythm by Art Blakey
Its architectural equivalent is Tadao Ando.
Amazing....
Dewd - you got to put the band back together man. Come back to the kuumbwa man
Musicians ask where modern drumming came from.
Define ‘modern.’
All wrists
Happy birthday, Bill!
What a guy
