This sounds just so oddly addicting... kind of a surreal sound. I feel like you guys tapped into some really unusual chord structures here, as well as all the backing vocals. Also that instrumental part sounds so warm with that bass.

I though I might interpret the lyrics, so here's my take:
The person is going through some sort of internal conflict, possibly mental illness, and is feeling stuck. "Hours come and go" as they lose track of time in, stuck their own head. The "colors we used to know" is how things used to be (when things were better, the "silkiest dream, the heavenly spin"), and the "Colors we see when our eyes are closed" is the way they wish they future to be. They're speaking to the conflict itself, asking "Are we close to the end?" so they can "mend their broken dreams" and have everything return to how it once was, yet they "Dance in the courtyard as they see a thousand lights carry away"; people are leaving the person behind, yet the person is in denial and acts as if everything's fine. "You and I and every heatwave in a hurry" is them desperately trying to catch up after realizing how much they're letting themselves fall. I'm leaning more towards mental illness as it seems the one the speaker s talking to has always been with them, even through the good times, and it will never truly go away, they just have to learn to live with it.
TLDR: The speaker has internal struggle that's heavily affecting their life, and they wanna pull themselves out of it, yet it never seems to be enough. They lose themselves dwelling on the 'better' past and the wishful future, and everyone else is moving on without them, further distressing the speaker.
