- [Ep. 3] In this video I break down and show you how to play Eddie Van Halen's somewhat reverential solo in Led Zep's The Rover from a performance at Golden West Ballroom in 1976. It's usually attributed to May 9th of that year, but there seems to be some disagreement about the date. Search for: Van Halen - Live at the Golden West Ballroom, c. 1976
Tuning: Eb standard

The mighty Van Halen
Just started playing guitar again. I'm 52 and haven't played electric guitar since high-school. My initial goal is too learn everything I can about EVH. These vids you've posted are awesome. Love the early stuff...the Zero Demo video on YT is one of my go to vids when I want to do some listening. Because of you're contribution to YT I'm gonna search out some early live bootlegs. Thanks so Much. ✌
I really appreciate you taking the time to write that. It lets me know that people are picking up on the exact reasons I wanted to make these. I love that you're getting back into guitar, and that these vids are a source of EVH inspiration.
@@JimbosGuitarPlanet 👍 Already started learning the first solo you posted and plan on going through all the rest. Keep posting and thanks.
Awesome!
You can still hear where Eddie slips into the solo and putting his own style into it, that we will see in his later music a little bit. Awesome!
I totally agree. Thanks for the comment!
Hey Thanks... Make more...
Thank you, I will.
You need to do a tutorial on the cover they did by Aerosmith - last child
That one is great. It's on my list.
