Charismatic Conqueror making 1/1's with lifelink in a vampire aristocrats deck does a lot of work. Butcher of malakir, grave pact, dictate of erebos -- any of these you can clear opposing boards with a sac outlet Zulaport cutthroat, wispdrinker vampire, cruel celebrant, blood artist, cordial vampire, falkenrath noble, etc. etc. all deal damage to opponents and recover life for you for entry/death and Sanctum Seeker declaring a bunch of attackers can put significant dents in life totals. Welcoming vampire will get you cards on other peoples turns with it. Elenda the dusk rose, Elenda's hierophant - both grow off those 1/1's either swinging or dying and lead to many if not most board wipes becoming one-sided board wipes in the vampire player's favor. Teysa Karlov will double most of these effects. Using them as token 1/1 attackers like it's a green deck is not why it's a highly desired card.
Charismatic Conqueror doesn't even work with Hylda, as the opponent is doing the tapping, not 'you' the Hylda player. It really is great in incremental lifegain though. It's a monster in Amalia.
It's also not 35$ lol. It's 20-25$ on tcg, it's probably only 35$ if you're spending the premium on card kingdom. Sure you get your cards faster, but they're always more expensive than the actual market for them.
I moved my Charismatic Conqueror from my vampire deck to my Delney deck, and lemme tell ya, "every opponent's creatures and artifacts either enter tapped and make you one vampire, or enter untapped and make you two vampires" is a hell of an effect
Look. Enduring curiosity is a creature. Tutorable. Copyable. Volo include, token include, you can offspring it, you can rites of replication it after making a token of it. You can exile it and create a token of it as a zombie. And it always comes back as the enchantment so you have one more turn cycle at least with drawing tons of cards
Berserk is great in a green deck that runs mana dorks that tap for mana equal to power! Such as Raggadragga or Sylvala decks. The potential for removal is just a bonus.
I use it as a combo piece with eternal witness in chatterfang. Saw the e wit, make a bunch of tokens, bring saw back and e wit, rinse repeat. Definitely not for every deck, but I think it's very strong in decks with combo lines
Enduring Curiosity in Alela decks is very strong, imo. The fact it's an enchantment and a creature means you get two creatures for one with Alela out. And since both Alela and the faeries she generates have flying, it's almost always going to draw you many cards. Obviously, Reconaissance Mission or Bident provide nearly the same effect, but depending how your Alela deck operates, having one more effect like this that's also on a creature might be worth the price point for you.
Quasit is so good. The fact it melds Spellslinger and Goad together means it has a lot of homes so its one of those cards where you'll have a home for it eventually if you just build a new deck every few months
Pulled a foil extended art Palantir of Orthanc today. Appreciate the timing of the review of the card. Trading that sucker in for a pile of other goodies
A solid rule, for things like Enduring Curiosity, is that unless it's seeing play in Modern/Pioneer wait until it drops out of Standard to grab it unless you absolutely *must* have it.
I agree on the Doubling Season take unless as mentioned planeswalker, or a Commander like Baylen, the Haymaker who cares about tokens and +1/+1 counter on himself. Doubling Season accelerates Baylen like crazy. Hey instead of 5 tokens I make 10 and I tap 9 of them and instead of 9 +1/+1 counters, he gets 18 of those , which leads usually to a quick death of one opponent. You really want to utilize both parts of doubling season to make it worth it imo
Fwiw, Doubling Season is realistically the third best planeswalker card because it doesn't double counters from ability activation like Vorinclex and Innkeeper's both do. I think Doubling's value is more in the number of decks that it works in than the level of strength that it provides. There are better token doublers and counter doublers but there's really only one other card that does both and it's symmetrical.
I keep telling my friends they don’t need to put doubling season in there +1 decks it’s so expensive too mana cost wise and to me money wise. Fun takes nerds I really like these videos :)
charismatic conqueror is funny. because it goes infinite with itself if 2 players have one on the field. and thats hella frustrating when both players agree to make 1000 1/1's for fun. there was also a situation where conqueror and marneus calgar were both on the field. and someone had xyris out, the xyris player would make a snake every time the marneus player drew a card. he chose to not make his snake come in tapped, the marneus player was forced to draw, eventually drawing out his whole deck and losing. honestly conqueror is toxic as well, im so sick of being stopped midplay over and over and over again, "does he come in tapped?" just annoying imo.
I guess "Scorched Ruins" could be ok if you have a 60- cards Tron deck, where eithin turn 2 you have a "play 2+ more lands each turn" and in turn 3 you have a "Vedalken Orrery" in your hand. That way uou could sacrifice 2 Urza lands, put the S.R., play the orrery, re-play the lands and have a ton of mana on turn 4 .... ... If you'll survive until turn 4
Berserk in yargle and multani is game winning for 1 mana 😂. Also great with my "when this creature dies do damage equal to its power to everyone and gain that much life" is busted.
Playing Palantir in Lara Croft because it does everything. Its legendary so i can get it out if the graveyard with Lara, it mills cards when on the board, which I want, it draws, it scries and its just 3 mana. I honestly get the price for it.
Enduring curiosity is definitely worth it! The fact that it has flash and it protects itself against removal in the case that you use it during combat means it has to be removed twice to get rid of the effect. It should be an auto include to any blue creature based deck.
Very glad I sold my Charismatic Conqueror a while back and haven’t had any regrets. I thought its price tag was just NOT proportionate to its viability.
I play scorched ruins with Blood sun and Moon. they remove the extra land sacrifice clauses! most people will remove the enchantment anyways so all good
Do you guys think berserk would go well into a jarad golgari lich lord deck? :3 I feel like it's very niche to be included in the 99. Might as well use a Skullspore Nexus or Unnatural Growth?
With all the vampires in Foundations, I kind of get why Charismatic Conq is high now. ($20 on TCGtraider btw). I wouldn't buy it, but since I have the precon it came in, I run it.
Wait why is Madness 6 impossible? I cast Emrekule pretty much everytime i get it for its madness cost. Just run Geir Reach Sanitarium and a way to tutor it
All these prices seem to be only according to card kingdom. For example saw in half is 11$ on card kingdom but 7.50$ on TCG player. When they are talking about expensive cards don't take their word for it and do market research. Charismatic conqueror is not 35$ I got one for around 12$ about a month ago..if you keep a price on stuff usually tcgplayer but I've used other sites too you get some pretty good discounts
Is Charismatic Conqueror worth that pricetag...likely not, is it a good uhhhh dislike-bear? in a deck that enjoys making creature tokens, yep sure is. Think about this card like a 2/2 vigilance for 2 that makes a 1/1 lifelink token etb and has a echo cost of making another 1/1 lifelink token. Blind obedience is a completely different card with completely different applications.
I actually agree with you guys on Charismatic Conqueror. It's not that good. Definitely not 35 dollars good. Probably 1 dollar good. I will say it's worth it in Bennie Bracks Zoologist just because it can proc at instant speed and draw cards and it is only a 2 mana investment. Even if opponents always choose tapped they can only get away with low amounts of blockers for so long against a tokens build.

charismatic conquerer was completely useless in my playgroup. i think i had it trigger maybe once in multiple games. i see its uses but not for the meta i play in
Charismatic Conqueror works wonders with Delney or Panharmonicon - and i love it in my Zinnia offspring deck. Those options bypass the Blind Ob problem and result in you getting 1-2 tokens for every trigger.
Yeah this is a huge thing I think people don't get. If you copy his triggered ability, you can't meet both so you either give me 2 vampires or you give me one and tap your shit. Besides they're comparing it to pure stax and also with Edgar. Both areas he's not meant for. He's like Pseudo stax but his main benefit imo is aristocrats where you don't care if you get the 1/1 or they tap their thing. Hell 90% of the time I wish they wouldn't tap because I want the 1/1 more than I care about them ramping one turn earlier.
I play Palantir in my Eldrazi deck and killed my brother in 3 turns. He wouldnt let me draw and turn 1 hit for 11 turn 2 hit for 16 turn 3 he literally killed himself. Lmao
"I hate giving people a choice" is such a tired argument. Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe also give your opponents "a choice" and they're allstars. One can make arguments for why this or that card in particular is bad but just saying "it gives your opponent a choice, so they'll always chose the worst option for you" isn't a real argument against a cards strength, just a warning/disclaimer. Yeah, I agree. It's a low mana play and has so much upside that the opponent's choice, especially when there are 3, isn't really a drawback. The card would be OP if there wasn't a choice. I think the card is nicely balanced and still strong.
I agree with your take on doubling season but its pretty good in Urtet and also amazing in Rocco Street Chef that has a lot of synergy with food tokens and +1/+1s

I am never the choice for Financial planning lol :) cheers and always love and laughter my friends. I picked up some commons and uncommon so I did not need to sort my bulk…. 100% clarity.
charismatic conqueror I think you guys are missing the most important point about it. It's a two drop vampire. everyone is always looking for the best to drop vampires. I would love to hear what the better two drop vampires are because this one gets you a lot of confusion and potentially advantage and resource for a drop that also gives you an extra body as soon as it hits the field, thanks to Edgar.
You guys are on drugs I have charismatic in my Edgar deck and it slaps. Her Edgar deck is super slow tbh but this card carries by slowing 3 people down or speeding me up you pick.
Also it’s 20$ on tcg player I imagine you guys used card kingdom prices which are inflated for ease of shipping. Love card kingdom but some are inflated too much.
It’s their opinion 🤷♂️. I do agree some what on the pricing. There’s times where they use tcg pricing to make the card look cheap even with the ck sponsorship. So I don’t like that they pick and choose what prices they display.
Yeah was gonna say her Edgar deck must be pretty bad for CC to not be a great card in it. There are so many cheap ways to pump vampires so 1/1s are great. And if they tap their creatures? That's fine too as Edgar is pretty aggro and leaves them shields down Not sure why they're comparing it to Blind Obedience, people aren't playing it for that reason
Drop the reanimate and just run it in Grixis Marchesa. Saw in Half Gary then watch the original come back from Marchesa for a 3rd Gary trigger in 1 turn.
Scorched Ruins has errata, similar to Lotus Vale, where if you don't sac the lands it never even hits the battlefield, so you can't skip the trigger with Obeka or any Stifle effects
@@NitpickingNerdssorry, I was basing that on how the ability on the card is written. It was changed in the rulings. I figured it would work the same as bounce lands with obeka
"If you already have 3 copies of Boseiju, may it's not worth buying a 4th?" How about having a copy and then make a proxy copy for your second, third,.... decks if you need to have a copy for your playgroup. If you cant use proxies at all, find new pods.....

Scorched Ruins is a godsend in a mono-white high cost angel deck... I've been playing since Beta, so it's always been there for me...
Strict proctor!
Charismatic conquerer does serious work in my Trelassara deck, people always get greedy and let me have the lifelinkers.

Combine it with legolas quick reflexes and for 2 mana you get a massive mana burst and likely kill 2 creatures.
Saw in half is an absolute staple for my legendary creature recursion deck, it opens up huge combo potential with a lot of my cards
I use it as a combo piece with eternal witness in chatterfang. Saw the e wit, make a bunch of tokens, bring saw back and e wit, rinse repeat. Definitely not for every deck, but I think it's very strong in decks with combo lines

It is really good because of the Flash. I have it in my Talrand deck and it is so good
@hobez64 it's crazy in Zur, Eternal Schemer too
I forgot it even had Flash. There's another reason.
Berserk being used as a removal spell is very creative. I never thought of that

I love this series! I’ve been wondering about Bristly Bill and Scythecat Cub for a counters deck. They’re just so expensive!
I paid literally 40€ yesterday for cyclonic rift and mana drain STONKS📈
Now sell them and keep the difference
Eh eh

Saw in Half with Broodlord is maybe my favorite thing to do in Commander right now. But I would say Saw should only be a buck or 2.
Scorched Ruins is great in colorless Zhulidok deck. So is Palantir
Saw in half also causes etb triggers to trigger again so use it in my yarok deck and use it on my own creatures so I get extra triggers
saw in half in aristocrats decks is sooo good, specially in my Elenda deck
Saw in half is one of my fav cards, i have it in like 3 of my decks. It wins me the game most of the time or leads to very broken turns
I play scorched ruins with Blood sun and Moon. they remove the extra land sacrifice clauses! most people will remove the enchantment anyways so all good

With all the vampires in Foundations, I kind of get why Charismatic Conq is high now. ($20 on TCGtraider btw). I wouldn't buy it, but since I have the precon it came in, I run it.
Saw in half is hilarious in korvold. Double face breaker or any other treasure maker/ marrionte master creature has ended many games.
Grim Hireling with double-striking creatures 🍻
always love these videos, keep it up you two ❤
I feel like there is better value for money, but saw in half is awesome...in the right deck. I play it in Ratidrabik and it is broken with him out.
*Pins for my backpack what a blessing that others do it also*
Camellia deck loving both token and counters xD.
Wait why is Madness 6 impossible? I cast Emrekule pretty much everytime i get it for its madness cost.
Just run Geir Reach Sanitarium and a way to tutor it
Probably because it is 6 colorless mana specifically. Most Madness decks tend to be red/black.
6 colorless mana is basically not doable in a non colorless deck.

$10 to $25 for Berserk? That's an absolute steal! In that, you get robbed if you pay that kind of money for that effect.
Berserk for my Yargle and Multani is the best card
Doubling season in Zaxara is OP
Copy Scorched Ruins with Thespian Stage. Thats the play guys.

Yeah, it needs a good home, it isn't generically good. I have a deck where I double its trigger so I will always get at least 1 token, if not 2
Putting this here, its not for Hylda either as it lets the opponent tap, missing her trigger.
Right before it's price inflation I grabbed one for 3 bucks.
It's not a bad card.
But no way would I have paid 35
I lucked out

@@NitpickingNerdssorry, I was basing that on how the ability on the card is written. It was changed in the rulings. I figured it would work the same as bounce lands with obeka
No, just buy proxies
Buy? Hewlett Packard Masters is easily the best.
"If you already have 3 copies of Boseiju, may it's not worth buying a 4th?"
How about having a copy and then make a proxy copy for your second, third,.... decks if you need to have a copy for your playgroup.
If you cant use proxies at all, find new pods.....
I got 2 Charismatic Conqueror for $17 when Ixalan came out and I can go to my LGS and get $65 in store credit today
Or 40-50% of that... no LGS is paying full value for trade-ins.
