- There aren't too many people in the watch world like Jeff Stein. Sure, there are true lovers of a single category - but few dedicate so much passion, so much energy, and so much time to any one single type of watch, and have done so for so many years and with as much vigor as Jeff Stein. Stein is the founder and still owner of OnTheDash, the champion of vintage Heuer in the online space. The resource hosts an active forum, original stories (mostly authored by Stein), and simply an unparalleled level of information about all things vintage Heuer. It won't come as a surprise that Mr. Stein is in fact a Heuer collector of some note. This is your official Talking Watches with OnTheDash founder Jeff Stein. For the full story, go to www.hodinkee.c...
Nice to see a focused collection like this that isn't just Rolex and Patek. We need more talking watches episodes...
It's very difficult to listen to Mr. Stein and not want a Heuer chronograph in the collection. I'm most fortunate to have had the opportunity to view this video, thanks to both Ben and Jeff.
Never clicked on a video so quick! Nothing like a new Hodinkee video and a Talking Watches video at that :D
bastard i wanted phist comment ;-)
Thanks to Mr. Jeff Stein, i was asking something about my Heuerer Carerra Cal.12 and he wrote me back, a very nice person
I'm new to collecting but not a young guy. I started off and was all over the place, but I found I kept on going back to Timex. I love how they are now making automatics and mechanical now, but I also love their Quartz. They make watches for the every day guy and I just love how they look. I know many horological guys don't think they are special, but I hope to one day own as many Timex watches as Jeff owns Tags. Wear what you love and enjoy the hobby. I'm doing just that.
I found this very educational. I started my interest in watches with TAG Heuer 30 years ago and find myself coming back to them. The Autavia is quickly becoming an itch for me. Great episode. Keep up the great work!
'Sometimes you stand there in the morning, and say, you know I just want a badass watch' top bloke
I have great respect for this man who has taken such love for Heuer Autavias and many other watches.
great job as usual ! i cant get enough talking watches. the more I learn about watches I go back and read Watch the episodes and it seems entirely new to me being more educated
A great trip down Heuer history books with a master. Wish it was longer.
Was waiting for a new Talking Watches video for soo long. Finally :D
best person to ask what time is it
It's Heuer time, baby!
It was a great pleasure to exchange my Heuer Autavia Chronomatic with my dear friend Jeff.
I was happy with my Heuer Bundeswehr, which I just recovered
Cheers from Brazil Douglas Gravina
thank you so much Sir, great pleasure hear you talking about your hobby
Just an amazing collection and collector.
Jeff's a great guy as is his web site a great resource! Good stuff!
5:01 Dog is clearly unimpressed.
that dog is rich. see that Autavia big eye collar- he knows what time it is!
Dog watches Arch the Pontiff and you know what arch would call these :)
One of the best issues of Talking Watches.
So pleased to have come across this video series.
WOW Jeff stein. You sure know how to collect. Respect 👍🏻
Jeff is such a great guy.
Love this episode. Love seeing Tag-Heuer really lean on the great heritage and equity that the Heuer name has. Much better than the 00s mall watch vibes. Hopefully they continue on a decent trajectory.
"And sometimes you just stand there in the morning and say, you know, I just want a badass watch". What an awesome line.
Fantastic collection. The Autavia is a instant grail!
Fantastic. His website is an invaluable resource.
The focus on community is so so so cool
great clip, amazing collection
Pretty much he has a million of the same watch..nice
Great talking watches!! Great to see that awesome collection Jeff, I knew you had more watches !
What a wonderful interview.
Amazing watch collection he got here, and yes he help me to with some quastions that i had about my Heuer Carrera Cal. 12,
Oh...! This is what I call a Great watch collection...
Talking Watches With Archie Luxury please!!
LOL. That'd be fff up
Yes , fuuuuuuuuuuuckers !!!
Do it clymer, I dare you!!!
how can he be unemployed and a janitor? If he was a janitor wouldn't he be employed? Not defending him in anyway but...thats a paradox you got going there.
Bob jones how do you get fired from that?
I'm glad to hear that he wears his collection - I was struck by his bare wrist.
More of an obsession rather than a collection. Gotta appreciate the love he has for the brand though...
What a watch collecting class! Thanks for sharing it
Great video, fantastic collection, love his passion and knowledge!
It could be I was overwhelmed by the numerous watches on display, but I did not get inspired by this one sadly..
Much better than any other rollie collectors
I'm a sucker for Heuer Dash Timers.
5:02 "He lovez them watchez mo' than me 😫"
You need a dedicated weekly video for taking watches. So many out there who do this pass-time. Thank you for uploading another one.
Does he have the ones with the Japanese movements?
He said that the community makes this hobby so great and It's true. It would be boring collecting only for yourself.
Pure horological bliss.
Another great video.
Damn that was good. Great video, too bad we only get two a year....the brand gets a pretty bad rep these days, If anyone should be doing reissues/ re additions it should be Tag heuer. All of these pieces I would wear proudly!
Jason Sawatsky it seems your wish has been granted. While a little pricey, the Autavia reissue that came out this year is beautiful!
Does anybody remember in which episode of talking watches they discussed the vintage steel daytonas with, if I remember correctly, like a pretty colourful dial or indicator?
Here in BRAZIL 🇧🇷, we are deeply into Heur's ;) , especially after Senna's death. And I'm still looking forward to get my perfect Monaco!
Saw this with crown and caliber a year ago. Still good I guess.
I have a "badass" Aquaracer too! I wear it almost every day.
excellent interview!
This guy knows his Heuers.
The best watches ever produced, my favorites models was from the 60s and 70s, Autavia, Carrera, monza, monaco, 1153, 1553...Amazing design, finish and movement from this era, regarding that it wasn't cao, dao and cnc...
Nice Seiko there, too!
I rather think its a 6309
I can't find it.. where is it.
People forget how amazing HEUER was
Well done. Thank you.
Gotta love talking watches
Wow wow such dedication well done.
Single brand, and not one of those posh names. Now, that is devotion !
Very nice video.
Great video. Thank you.
This collection reminds me of band camp. Every instrument could play a good tune but only some could play a really great tune. Oh Yeahhh Who's ready for some coolade?
That white on white Carrera is impeccable 😍😍😍
If this man is married, his wife is truly the best wife ever!
A true watch collector.
I was hoping more Bund's. My very favorite Heuer. Oh well.
Antoine Thisdale I was waiting the whole time for Bunds. Never came. Very interesting though.
holy shit those two seikos look so good in his collection, makes me so happy to own a srp777
sweet video great collection
Jeff Stein is my hero
He's definitely the life of any party. Even Ben was bored.
Jeff:"To see whether that V was pointed was just one of the highlights of yesterday."
Ben:" Sure...." and quickly switches topic. ROFL!
Is this a repost? Pretty sure we've seen this guy on the channel before
Hodinkee... do one with a "Seiko collector".
Greetings.
This is absolutely beauty collection. ;)
Talking Watches with Jeb Bush
@16:28 my favorite watch in this collection. Imagine if they actually manufactured the same color scheme as new.
very cool video, and that aqua racer really is "bad ass".
Should have lasted an hour, this was very interesting
that's what she said
agreed. i wish they would have gone thru every single watch and made the video as long as it had to be. hour, two, three, whatever.
Nowhere enough Monaco action.
Comming from this to the match your neckless to your watch with Malaika in 2024 😢
I guess Ben had no idea who the late great Clay Regazzoni was.
I wonder if he owns the Tag Huer the one that was infamous for having Seiko parts? Lol glad it's his collection and not mine great vid
Yes . . . I own three of the TAG Heuer Carreras, with the Cal 1887 movement, and they are fantastic . . . all running within three seconds per day accuracy.
if i closed my eyes i'd think this was tim cook.
haha the nicknames are funny "The Paintless Wonder" "Orange Boy"
Hi Jeff I am in a pickle over 2 watches I have just acquired from a friends wife I need to ask you about the right direction I should take, 1 Heuer Monaco 7732 (2) Autavia GMT Cal 724 Applied luminous Red Hour Markers "T" above swiss Flat V Pepsi Ring. Has Formula 1 Race Background ,,, how can I contact you PS also have several Heuer Stop Watches from same source with F1 background.
He had a nice vintage Seiko turtle would had loved if they showed all the watches
That is an insane amount of money on that little table.
Very Interesting!
fantastic guys be yourself you will learn it emeralde
No Ref 12?
hola tengo un autavia heuer 3646 de mi abuelo. Le puedes interesar a usted? saludos
sup Benjamin? it looks like you are bored?? almost like your voice is making your face fall asleep! love the videos though! :D
Great video! What do you think about tag heaur 1000 professional series?
got a 1000 but pre tag 36mm 1984 blk / blk , wears big for 36mm. thick case , great tool watch look, model 980.013, love it would never sell, if you buy wait for a heuer - resid. value will go up , tag signed models never really do
Can we get more videos?
Just watched this for the first time, I am quite perplexed at how Benjamin Clymer subtlety dismissed the collector when he was describing the Kenyan Airforce Tag Heuar issue. A bit disconcerting and hope that is not the attitude you espouse in your takes??...
How much is this collection worth?
i would guess theres at least a 1/2 mill on that table minim.
Not a fan of Heuer but I appreciate the collection
ARCHIE LUXURY!!
Archie only has four watches in his collection. But if you get him drunk, he'll rant on a half an hour about Mimi T.
This side-eye is intense 5:08
r/WatchExchange would love this guy
Wow a couple of millions in Heuers watches.
