Rian Johnson is the fall guy. His job was to take their story and adapt it to screenplay. He most likely just did a direct adaptation with minimal changes. Meanwhile Lord and Miller probably tried to fix the story they were given and got fired. Same with Gareth Edwards.

levi brown glad you agree! It's worth noting that the story group is no longer all female now (they have since brought on people like Pablo Hidalgo). But the fact that being all female was a goal in the beginning at all shows where their priorities are. Also, Kiri Hart has virtually no writing experience. When she was made leader of the team in 2012, she had writing credits for only two TV show episodes (both from 2003). Those were literally the only credits she had in her IMDB page at all. Everything else is post 2012.

PungiFungi it certainly sounds very bad and probably not a good working environment as you need balance and different people to bring different things. I would have hoped that the first step would have been finding writers who had the Star Wars knowledge necessary. It’s just further illustration that they are the most bigoted people around because they don’t see what skills people have they look at the superficial differences between people. However despite what someone said earlier in the comments I don’t think Rian Johnson is some helpless, innocent little man in this situation as the scriptwriters were who they were for TFA too and that was ok and no one makes him attack fans on twitter he chooses to do that. He’s choosing to take the pathetic path he’s on, no one else has forced him on it.
Sarah, with Onyx the GREAT guide dog, I can tell you for a fact that most office drama and toxic environments are created by women. I have experienced and seen it. Even most women will confess to preferring to work with men and I can only imagine what goes on there after they hired an all female staff....probably endlessly congratulating each other and goofing off with gossip instead of focusing on the work at hand...and as time went on, they split into gabbing factions because some of them may have different opinions and ideas refused to follow the herd. Their inability to take criticism probably rubbed off on Rian Johnson, a beta male that Kennedy could control and ruled under her thumb.
My biggest problem with the sequel trilogy is still the fact that they threw away Lucas' story outlines.

beast gamer 69 it is true. I like the pt and ot pretty equally. In a space opera sometimes you have to look over the little things. People wanted to nit pick the small ends in the pt when overall I think it's pretty good. Sure there's some things that definitely could go like jar jar. The pt shows a mighty Jedi order with a galaxy that's much better structured as it should be before the civil war.
Down the road from where you live, there is a family restaurant where your dad took you when you were young. You would always order 'the hope burger', and it was your favorite dish in the world. As you grew older you would still visit the same restaurant every weekend to enjoy your favorite dish. One day you hear the news that a franchise decides to buy the restaurant. It's a very well reputed franchise that promises to extend on the original menus, and you feel full of excitement. You book a table for the opening day. You sit down, and you order your hope burger. Only now you get salad instead of chips, without being given the option. The burger itself is made of soy not meat. The mustard is green, not yellow and the taste doesn't agree with your taste buds. As a customer you feel frustrated because you were promised a built on menu not a complete renovation. You call your waiter and ask if you could get something closer to the original. Your waiter responds by calling you a sexist racist asshole whose only reason to complain is that the cook is a Spanish lady. He flips you the middle finger, and tells you that you should come next weekend and pay again in order to try the new soy kebab along with a glass of mother milk, so as to support women who breast feed their babies. Even though you have nothing against breast feeding you try to explain to the waiter that you like your milk and your food in a certain way and that you would be happy to meet somewhere in the middle if you could at least enjoy some of the past recipes. The waiter laughs at your face, spits at your burger, tells you he doesn't care about your customer loyalty or preferences and asks you to get the fuck out so you leave. When you don't come back next weekend and the waiters boss asks him how come, the waiter suggests that you got saturated on eating burger or that perhaps you went out to a pizza place mid week and couldn't afford to dine out twice.

Idk man...Pando and L3 were cringey as hell to me. I thought the worst part of the film. Not a good fit for Lando or at least the writing for him was awful. He was constantly flirting with everyone including L3 and L3 basically said they fuck when she mentioned she works just "fine" down there. Fucking disgusting, dont know how you missed that shit. It was so obvious but ultimately i was happy she got murdered in front of her lover.

All LucasFilm has done is made the the Token stereotypical people of Color. When I saw The Force Awakens, My favorite character was Finn, not only because he was Black. But because he had the most interesting back story. Even in the TFA they make the Black guy the janitor. In TLJ they make Finn the idiot for comic relief and make Poe into the Macho Latino who doesn't respect women. This is not the kind of representation my Son's can look up to. Yes! I enjoyed star wars it was something I was able to enjoy with everyone. now it's been become the latest toxic political battle ground. On top of Disney and Kennedy bashing the rest of the community that holds ledgends sacred and not taking any inspiration from those stories says what they thought about the community and the stories that kept star wars afloat through the 90s until the prequel trilogy. The names of Zahn and Stackpole and thier work has been trashed destroyed the great characters they built turned into footnotes and bad jokes.

No one needed to tell me not to see this movie. I saw the previews and decided on my own, way before they ever said anything about a boycott.
MAGA MAN - Technically Jeremy never told anyone to boycott the movie. He just said what he was going to do and why. He provided an important platform for the fans so it could be known why people weren't going to see this movie, and so Disney couldn't spin it around and make excuses by crying bigotry or saying it was Deadpool 2 or Avengers. He's making it harder for them to escape the truth so they'll actually have to address the real problem.
David Camacho - If you characterize it as being merely an unpopular product then sure. That definitely contributes to Solo not doing well at the box office but the Soycott also contributed. A movement can be defined as "a group of people working together to advance their shared political, social, or artistic ideas". Many fans didn't go to see Solo regardless of whether they thought it would be good or not. They were displeased with the direction the franchise had been going and wanted to send a message.

Yep, watched his video yesterday and it mirrored everything I've been telling people in comments everywhere since I saw The Last Jedi in the theater. I like how he owned the fact that he's allowed to change his mind on things, as a human that is continuously downloading and considering information. People change, it doesn't make them bandwagon jumpers or anything. I change my mind on things all the time because I'm constantly learning new things and being taught new things or realizing things I had never considered. It's all about being human but own it like Jeremy did; that's power in knowing who you are and not being afraid to admit you may have been wrong.

To lack an element of information doesn't, in fact, mean their knowledge is poor or their mind is narrow. It may simply mean they haven't discovered something yet. Poor knowledge or narrow mindedness, depends greatly on the elements by which the person is judged. For example: If Steven Hawking discovered something new and changed his theory on a particular topic, does that mean his knowledge was poor or his mind was narrow? Being the learned genius he was, many would say no, based on his level of expertise and experience. One could always know more than another and by that respect, consider their lesser counterpart narrow or poor in knowledge but that is merely from that person's point of view and may not reflect the picture as a whole. These things must be judged on a case by case basis and can't be arbitrarily decided. However, this is simply my opinion which seems logical from my perspective.

A very unfortunate truth is Kathleen Kennedy is administration... she's a bean counter NOT a creator/writer/artist/designer. And it happens way too often when the administrative bean counters take over IPs that were created from the ground up from nothing...to global empires. Simply on the sole fact that they got there with great care by amazing creators with masterpiece ideas and execution. It happens way too often within everything: Movies, TV, video games, etc.
