You say you've not made much progress this week but I reckon you've done really well. Your determination and enthusiasm had you out when it was snowing and in the workshop despite it being freezing cold to get stuff done and I think most people would probably have stayed at home in the warm - I know I would have!
For me these are the best bits! Keep on cracking on Dom - looking forward to seeing you stoked when you’re driving it! 👊
You are doing an amazing job. I appreciate your tenacity. Keep up the good work!
The attention to detail is ultra important on the rigidity of the chassis. If you skimp on any aspect you will affect the driveabillity and safety under breaking ect so stick to what your doing. Excellent work as always. 👍
Terrific workmanship, you definitely made the right decision cutting that chassis leg off.
Dom,
Sandblasters need very dry air.
You must drain your compressor and add an air drier.
I hope this helps.
Martin
Good to see you keeping on top of your game.
Loving the Ashley Harding sound track !!
It’s incredible how these cars rot from the inside out. Such hard work to bring them back. I commend you for that incredible determination.
Nothing like engineering on the fly, and you do it so well and accomplish so much despite freezing cold temps to work in. Very inspiring. Take care of yourself, too!
AsI was told by my fellow 356ers when I started on my 64C, "It's like eating an elephant - one bite at a time. You're doing a brilliant job and I envy all your your tools.
Great progress and I love the look of those new panels. Getting them welded on next will demonstrate its all going to be doable and will hopefully give you a great morale boost and fuel further progress. Hadn’t realized the car came from the States - you took a real leap of faith to buy and ship it. Loving seeing it all start to come together.
It's these small detailed bits that take the time but equally the most important , keep at it Dom.
This progress is massive!!! You’re doing great!! 2 vids in a row let’s get you driving this car!!!!
You're doing very well, Dom. Be 23:23 proud of your work on the Porsche. It's by far my favourite of all your projects.
You’re doing well Dom, some bodywork is relatively straightforward but the areas you’re having to attend to first are time consuming. Thanks for the video Dom.👍👍
Appreciate it, thank you
Oh my god these new panels looks stunning. It looks like Travis saved you ages of work.
They are so nice, I can’t wait to get them fitted next week!
You are e real crafsman Dom. And you are a good teacher, explaining what you do, why you do it and how you do it.
All of these seemingly minor repairs are critical to the structural integrity of this shell. This type of "visual algebra" that connects the rusted/missing elements to those lovely new panels is both heartening and inspirational. Onward toward the next video!
Absolutely brilliant video Dom,you have the patience of a saint
Looking good Dom, we can see this is not easy but you can do it!
Great to see more progress on the Porsche 356, love watching you working especially when John is with you. Until next time stay safe
Excellent progress Dom. Only a true craftsman doesn't cut corners on work that won't be seen.
It's always satisfying when a part fits, especially when it's made from scratch with cardboard templates - which I know you do, and that folder is a God send.
You are fortunate to have found an independent Porsche specialist, can you imagine a main stealer cost for your 356 colander panels........😨
Amazing Dom! Your patience and determination are an inspiration to us all!👏👏👏
I appreciate that!
I have the same blaster Dom, we found that if you turned the media off on the bottom, start blasting and the slowly turn it on till it starts cleaning, it doesn’t block and lasts a lot longer. Put a tent up though, it goes everywhere!!
I love your work, Dom. Attention to detail is exactly why we do these crazy things.. Pride in workmanship comes before all else.. Whereas you have to deal with the cold, we here have the opposite, it's the heat..(Queensland, Australia) when it's 33C outside, inside the shed it's 40C. I'm working on a '64 Morris 850 Mini ( and in my spare time a '44 Ford GPW jeep and a Willys 1/4ton Trailer)
Love the wee doggie, lost mine a few days ago, saddest day ever. He was old, 14 years and my constant companion and workmate. ( He was the foreman, so gave myself a day off work) I loved him to bits.
Keep up the good work.
Brilliant work Dom the build is really getting there it's amazing how doing little bits can make such a difference looking forward to the next episode.
Loving watching it come back together and the thought process with it. Good Work Dom as Always.
Great cliffhanger Dom! I'm really enjoying the Porsche rebuild, you have impressive skills and patience!
I imagine those new parts were not cheap… but they really will give the car a structural, aesthetic, and you a valuable morale boost! Superior progress Sir!!!❤
Thanks Dominic, for working and posting even in the cold. Your 356 videos are the highlights of my day. Love your sweater, could you post a link to it? Thanks.
Great to see more progress on your Porsche!
Excellent, Dom - well done! Can’t wait until the next one! Many thanks!
I was similarly surprised when I cut open my Herald’s windscreen frame and saw shiny bare metal inside, even though it was in a place I knew would’ve stayed dry!
For those awkward repairs where grinder access is difficult I find a die grinder with a carbide burr bit to grind out what you can’t cut and / or a Dremel with a flexible extension and a tiny cutting disk (their EZ lock ones) can really help.
Those panels do look good, looking forward to seeing them go in!
My Sunday is complete! Great progress! Another great video
Keep going , it’s the tiny details that make all the difference .
Thank you!
Fabricating parts always takes longer than you expect. I hope that John was able to make it to help you with the panels. Best wishes.
Just recently found your channel and im addicted. Love the work you do but love your enthusiasm and positivity even more!
Loving this. Good stuff Dom!
Absolutely absorbing viewing. Well done you. Thanks for sharing.👍
Fantastic video Dom. Congratulations on your progress and I can't wait for the next episode.
A lot of great progress!!!
These fiddly little bits are the foundation the rest of the car lives on ... extra time/effort now will pay itself back later.
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Thanks Dom, you are certainly ameliorateing this Porsche 356...Bit BY Bit...Piece By Piece
That was great work and fascinating to watch.
A nice episode, Dom! If I had a small fraction of your enthusiasm, I'd have had my Boxster S back on the road last year.
Thank you Dom
Great to see the Porsche getting some love. Can't wait to see more.
Your doing really well so far Don I'd prime them new panels can't wait to see it going down the road.
I have no use for ANY of the tools, little or large, that you show on your channel and yet somehow I want them all 😂
Scorching hot day in South Africa... 😂... Greetings 🎉
Lovely to see the Porsche coming on
More great progress Dom. I've used Fertan a few times and it's good stuff. keep up the good work fella.👌👍
A Porsche 356 chassis is a challenging restoration with lots of complicated overlapping panels. On the plus side, it is very rewarding when you can stand back and admire your efforts! Keep up the good work!
Love your attention to detail! Thanks for sharing your experience!
The engine bay replacement panels look really good. Keep up the good work.
Another great video Dom. I admire your enthusiasm and commitment to this daunting project. Nice workmanship on the pieces you made and the box opening was like a late Christmas! Those panels look superb and I understand your excitement at the prospect of completing the engine bay. ❤😊
Looking good now, when you started it looked so bad I would have given up. Stamina man and force of will😁
You’re one hell of a metal worker. I really learn a lot by watching your process
Bloody marvellous 👏🏻
Hi Dom nice to see your back on the 356 steady away it will all come together pal
Mike 👍
Well done Dom, slowly getting there 👍
Love watching you Dom, you have such a lovely manner. I live opposite Alice Blogg (Make it at Market), she said you were lovely too.
Your issues with the sand blaster may be due to moisture in the compressed air. Another channel had that problem with her dry ice blaster. She ended up adding two inline drivers and it fixed the problem. She is in Arizona, which is a lot lower humidity than your shop. Loving the intricate fabrication!
Can't wait for the next episode. This has all the ingredients to be an excellent restoration. Keep up the good work!!
I like to see high-detail progress, rather than a rush to finish. When you said "sand" in reference to the blasting machine, I hope that was a generic reference to blasting medium. Sand is definitely something you do not want to be using. I have found two major issues with blasting: keeping the medium dry and having enough air. On the latter, if you think you have "enough" air, you probably don't. It's also worth noting that 1/4" fittings will probably not flow enough for decent blasting.
Hey !! Dom!!
What a nice episode.
I've never thought that it would take so many layers on the engine bay.
That's s why you ve got so long to discover all that rust and to clean it up. Refurbish all these parts.
Well done.
And by the way, those new panels!!!!! How great!!!
And thanks again.
Doesn’t look like too much progress, Dom, but these are complex metalwork parts that needed to be done. This should put you in good shape for accelerating progress on the back end. Keep your spirits up - we’re all willing on as you keep us mesmerised with your skills and determination..thanks..
Eastwood's internal frame spray comes with a hose that has holes at the top so it costs all sides.
Fantastic progress Dom - loving the series!
Hi Dom , Great work , its like how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time, just keep plugging at it.
Excellent work dom good steady progress
Dom….nice video….great job…..and Wendy is nice….
Looking excellent! Dom youre a star!
Really interesting series on the Porsche, keep up the hard work your results look amazing, and it will be great to see this beauty back on the road with you behind the wheel!
Great stuff Dom. You will enjoy the car once done - so much. Get a bloomin heater (or a bigger one)!
Well done Dom. This project is really starting to gather pace and I am really enjoying it.
I did say that you had missed a bit though!!!! sorry!
you're really developing some fabrication skills, I've watched a lot of restoration shows, your 356 is one of rustier examples for restoration, but keep digging, you've made a lot of progress already, well done.
Thank you very much!
Loved the music as much as the video. 😂 in those conditions it’s more of a mind game than a physical challenge. Well done you 💪🏻
Keep going Dom! I know it's bitterly cold in Ol' Blighty at the minute but you've got this. Love watching your videos and seeing the progress you're making each week. Looking forward to next week's ep with Honest Jon. Seriously, what a beautiful friendship you two have. Lovely thing to watch. :)
Hi, saw you had problems with your mini blaster, the reason it’s blocking is moisture, you need to fit a moisture filter in the airline before the blaster, this will keep the media dry and stop the blocking.
Get yerself some decent extra thin spotweld chisels Dom. Think you can get 90 deg and even 180 degree ones .
Great progress, Dom. Love the build.
Great video. My commiserations on having to appear on BBC morning live.
He must have got an appearance fee?
No I dont get a fee, it’s just good fun!
Yes!
Well done Dom, fantastic progress
Great work Dom, lookin great and God Bless our American Cousin's, can't wait for the next video, You and Wendy have a nice day Mate !!!.😀😀👍👍📐📏.
Great work, Dom. I can see you as a panel beater the likes of the boys at the Yorkshire Car Restoration channel.
Loving what you do, both here and on Repair Shop, inspires me to give it a go myself.
What’s not to love about these projects ❤ GO DOM GO! 😁
I think your doing a lovely job there. I am rebuilding a landrover 110 pick up from the ground up, i have spent hours messing around with what seems pointless little bits and pieces but all pieces that make that big picture in the end. Keep up the good work as that will be a lovely car once complete.
its coming along nicely
Don’t get sucked into short cuts Dom, you’ll never strip it to level ever again, so remove all traces of the tin worm that you can safely do, treat everything as you go, and do not take short cuts, I speak from experience from a number of Land Rover restorations, now have. Wolf that will be the best ever when I’m done ! PS My Dog (Bonnie, the Great Dane), is my constant helper in my garage too, couldn’t do it without her 😅
Thank you for your content . Always look forward to your videos and an inspiration to pick up tools and have a go .
Yep……thats what i used to say with my 356 convertible D…..it never ended till i sold the car.
Proceeding with care will pay off in the end Well done Dom...
great perseverance, keep at it :)
Hello Dom . It really is a jigsaw but patience is the virtue . And those panels are excellent indeed . And you do need a other pair of hands ,and Honest John is the man ! Cheers Dom .
First class Dom 👏👏
Fantastic, keep up the great work you're doing
Dom I admit your perseverance.Good work
