I am happy for small miracles. The A&T band directors since way back when (... under Dr. Johnny Hodge, fmr. BGMM director) never wanted a real large marching band. The BGMM's moniker for a long time had been 'the little band with the big sound'. A&T does very well with great musical arrangements and field show creativity. However, the band will stay in the top 10 among HBCUs because of the small size in comparison to other schools. If A&T could maintain a band of size of 250 w/ the same ingredients that they have now, BGMM will shoot to #1 or #2 and easily will catapult over BCU, Norfolk, JSU and others. Go Aggies! Aggie Pride ''87.
'The little band with the large sound' was the promotion for the BGMM some time ago. BGMM always had from 180-200 members. I thought that directors used the formula of 9musical instrument families @ 20 instruments plus auxiliary (majorettes; flags; drum majors). So, if A&T is a school with lots of research monies, great infrastructure, largest enrollment of any HBCU (14K+), no administrative turnovers due to scandals/incompetence and upswing intangibles (e.g., adding $2bil in economic impact to the Triad area annually; largest college producer of African-American engineers over the entire United States ), then why is the BGMM much smaller that competitor HBCUs like PVAMU, BCU, JSU, FAMU which do not have the package resources/attributes that I mentioned in reference to A&T? Is it money or mindset?
I bet all these young students had a blast performing with NCAT. But was it me or did the tempo get off a tad on the second number? I certainly hope if they do this again next year they spread the Drum Majors through out the band and maybe do a dance girl feature that features all of the young ladies and close it out with GD. Or here's another idea..... Jamboree style Blue band with mix of high schoolers vs Gold Band with mix of high schoolers. End it with all bands playing a song together. Just a thought!

Way to represent Henderson Collegiate, amazing job🙌🏾
'75% of the size of the band on the field' should be the regular size of the BGMM .
You do know their size this year has been the largest it has been in years right? They are growing slowly but surely

@@ufundi1Never wanted a real large marching band? Now that’s completely different to what the alumni said on facebook 🤔

I did this last year, although it was BGMMs first time doing Senior Day-it was such an amazing experience. I hope more students come next year!
