@@RATsnak3 I mean like thousands of people doing choreographed dance or singing. That's the only comparison. There is a little bit of history about it in Latvia, during soviet times they always tried to ban a lot songs, but people still did them. It was like a little protest.

Wow, this is North Korea? I would have SWORN it was Tennessee! Why, back when I was a kid, growing up in Knoxville, we did EXACTLY this kind of stuff... pretty much every school assembly was this massive, perfectly synchronized display of gymnastics and dance. Everyone I knew rode a unicycle, and we were always singing songs about the president, painting murals, and engaging in contests to see who could be the least different. Yep, those were the days... I remember us kids in Knoxville parading around by the thousands, all smiling, all waving, all in our little costumes sewn by our mothers at the factory... praising the leaders... and the glory of Tennessee... Seriously, is this really North Korea? This is actually Knoxville, right?

If you want to see synchronized dance in your country, write to dance studios. The studios are often confused about what they should do with their dance. They have no appointments. This kind of bombastic art would probably draw big crowds. Democracy is communication, nothing more, nothing less.

Oh yep, nothing sinister at all. (Except the scene in the "A State of Mind" documentary, where the kids admit they don't have mats to practice on, instead attempting these head-flips in a concrete parking lot, in freezing winter. "When you fall, it hurts, but you just remember the Dear Leader and the Great Leader, and the pain goes away," says one kid. Real nice....)

Korea that feel trapped and they hate their government, but they also know they can never say anything negative. But remember that so many N. Koreans survived the Japanese occupation and subsequent Korean Conflict. They suffered, starved, saw family members murdered, were raped, and deprived. But when Kim Il-sung formed their now gov't, they experienced a reprieve from these horrors.
