LMAO, that one scene 49:21 where Dennis' friend talks about his wife leaving him UNTIL she heard Dennis won the lottery is worth watching this documentary for, alone! That guy can really tell a story. LOL.
Your right. I just started playing last week but I'm going to continue to play every time now. It gives you something to look forward to and keeps you dreaming. It's been a good feeling. It's fun seeing all the frenzy too.
The last part, about Dennis who was loyal to his friends was the best part of the whole film. The dude took care of his friends, great dude. Tbe part about Jack Whitaker, he brought his bad luck on himself to some degree. He had a reputation of visting strip bars with $100,000. or more in a brief case. Giving his Granddaughter such an outrageous allowance w/o proper supervision. The part about the young lady who lied about losing the lottery ticket, I guess she's trying to turn her life around, but she still needs to show more remorse, that will come slowly, if she's sincere.
$5M is not enough to retire on. After taxes is like $3M. You need at least $50M after taxes to retire. Put $30M in treasury bonds. Get $300K a year for 30 years. Then you get back your $30M. The $20M for any emergencies. Live on $300K a year salary. You can retire on that.
I understand the complaints below, but personally, I enjoyed the documentary a lot. I enjoyed the insight the musician shared about being damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
What happened to our narrator? Suddenly, we are watching people talk and we have no clue how they fit into the story. Good grief. This video documentary is a bit of a mess. It has promise, but it is too rough to be on here.
If you put this documentary on VHS and laid the tapes in a giant pile in the middle of the Ford Freeway in Detroit, I'd have better odds of setting fire to them all at once.
First thing I would do would be getting excellent private healthcare for my family and I (German universal healthcare is pretty good but going down the drain because we have to pay free healthcare for millions of inva.. er, "refugees" right now) and then a home with lots of nature around it. And then I could finally get a dog and some chickens. :D
The courts are screwed up. That lottery winner shouldn't have to pay anything to the father of the kid who overdosed. The lottery winner didn't give him the drugs.
I'm willing to BET the father of Jessie, is the one responsible for murdering Brandy or having her murdered. He was so jealous of Jack's wealth, it's nauseating. This is why you NEVER flaunt your wealth.
For sure. I’ve been trying to find out more information RE Brandy and the investigation, but it was gobsmacking that the police didn’t rule her death as suspicious. She was literally wrapped in plastic and dumped. Jesse was an adult and obviously a pretty serious addict. He didn’t require “adult supervision” at another person’s house. He needed a loved one to get him into treatment. It’s obvious he sued Richard, but I can’t find anything more. I also snorted when his grandmother said she didn’t want Jesse and his brother to sell their land. Lady I can’t speak for the sibling, but Jesse would jade sold that land in a heartbeat
When it's my turn to win the lottery am going do what's good and right for my family and loved ones and do good things with it and use the money right and make it work for me to make more and more and have enough for the rest of my life 😊😊
Drug dealers find you if you won the lottery. Bad people are also attracted to you. Which is why I'm not a fan of states that require you to to be identified publicly.
It's about real people who might not be educated in the ways of being able to properly understand what they have.. it's a gift of financial abundance.. and to share your gift with others is part of the returns that gift can bring..
Why the would you spend soooooooooooooooooooo much time on the boxer chick, it throws the whole narrative of what this documentary is supposed to be about, i award you no points
This documentary should be called "I don't know how the f$&k to make a documentary", "The diary of a schizophrenic film maker", "Million dollar baby", "Roofing: a guide to building your own saloon", or "I just wasted 67 minutes of your life, lol!" Vote below!
+Cameron Brtnik agreed. I think what happened was that they wanted to make a documentary, didn't have the resources to interview enough people, and just threw together this mess with the money that they had. I'm down to the last few minutes and this doc is so bad, I'm actually kind of angry. Not what I was hoping for, at all.
This is an absolutely rude and disrespectful comment! I think it was pretty well executed for one man to do, presumably on a tight budget. The film was quite uplifting and funny at times, and leaves the viewer feeling good about humanity. Somehow, this documentary seems to have had the opposite effect on you.
Some parts of this documentary are really revealing about the poverty of imagination of some of the first few winners. That was in great contrast to the final winner, who was eccentric and seems to have spent his money, both on what he loved and wisely. On the other hand, I read the reviews and clicked past the story of the boxer (the third one) because she didn't actually win, she just fibbed about it. And I think that's what made the documentary a better experience. They could have done without that story I'd say.
Charlie Ross The only person I can remember in gaming or betting is Sir James Goldsmith. It is said he won a bundle at the races. He came from a family with a history of financiers and they came from a well connected background. I think he used to gamble at the a club in Mayfair.
Money is a magnifying glass for your character. If you’re generous before, you’ll be generous after. Sadly, it is also like miracle grow for your character defects, so it’s not an easy balance

Guy calls his wife and says, "honey pack your bags, I won the lottery" wife says fantastic, where am i going, guy says " I dont care, as long as you are'nt home when I get there"
R.I.P. Dennis Edward Sanfilippo. I really enjoyed watching a bit of your life, thanks for sharing it with us. I just thought this guy is one of the rarest of folk. He actually bettered his life and others around him with the lottery win. He kept his head and helped some great folk, who were struggling. Watching the video of Dennis and friends, and I have watched it a few times, it just kinda cheered me up. I always thought that if I walked into a bar and Dennis and friends were there we would enjoy a drink with him and friends and have a laugh. I was pretty sad when I read about his passing. There just aren't many great guys like Dennis that you come across or read about. Thoughts with the family and friends.

Shane Folan I agree. It's funny how the world works. People who wouldn't know what to do with the money win. The one's who'd never thought they would win do. The one's who want to win dont. (Well some do, lol)

Heck yeah. It’s even funnier when you just listen to him and don’t watch it. It Surreal that way.
The boxer girl didn’t need such a big feature. Should’ve cut the whole thing out, it was pointless.
Exactly. They spent so much time on someone who didn't win the lottery. I skipped passed it.
Her part was that of a thief and had no business in the film other than 3 seconds saying she's a liar.
RIP to Dennis Sanfilippo at 36:32 time stamp
People say the odds of winning the Powerball are crazy but you at least want to give yourself a chance
bullshit i have a better chance of winning the lottery then me ever existing

Everybody who won would not have won if they didn't buy a ticket.
+Richard Gray do you realize what you said right now. Let it sink in. The imagination is the most powerful thing of all time... ALL IS ONE
There's a better chance of finding a bag full of money from a drug going wrong than winning the lottery.

Yea exactly. This really pisses me off. They don’t tell you have the info about the story’s and leave you wondering what the fuck happened

C'mon, man!

Mene Tekel lol right
This documentary has so much potential but it was so boring I just had to stop watching it.
the last story with the old heads ruined it
Exactly. The reason why it's so boring is because the people who won the lottery jackpots are boring people living in boring neighborhoods.
It's about real people who might not be educated in the ways of being able to properly understand what they have.. it's a gift of financial abundance.. and to share your gift with others is part of the returns that gift can bring..

basically, resist temptation and be a good steward...
The worst documentary ever. Bad camera work, poor transition, things that have nothing to do with the the lottery. I couldn't finish it.
This was a good doc , I remember this guy he is cool he didn’t change .
I love these guys I hope they win again 🙏
