It went through popularity phases like Minecraft, but only with specific girls like Aki Choco Miko Kanata. Aki was undisputed as the NPC of ARK like Moona to Minecraft. She was always online and did the craziest challenges for herself with her NPC Mukirose (who they refer to as the king here). When Coco graduated, she gave the server responsibility to Aki, also making her the 'king of the server'. It is probably the biggest thing associated to Aki besides Splatoon.
Ark is Aki's favorite game, she has the most hours combined playing it in holo and knows pretty much everything there is needed to know, she also continued to play it frequently long after everyone else has stopped, so this VCR server is such a godsend in terms of content for people who like to see Aki in her element
