Funny thing is, this season had evetything weird. The wing, the rear spitter, the front splitter (ugh), Waltrip in a weird number in the shootout, Reautimann somehow winning a frankly dominant Chicagoland race, and Kahne almost flying into the pocono trees. We also had the Sadler crash that nobody saw. The Keselowski flip that prompted the removal if the wing, and the drama between Edwards and Keselowski's dad as well.
There was also Kyle Busch vs Keselowski at Bristol in August, the photo finish at Talladega between McMurray and Harvick, Logano and Harvick's fight at Pocono in June, Danica's debut, Junior winning a nationwide race in the 3 despite it being a low point in his career. Really good year looking back
One of the last eras you could watch nascar without hearing about playoffs every 5 seconds. Also, look at how awesome the races were without arbitrary stage breaks
2014 was the best era. Stage racing helped saved current era with the low hp and aero bullshit of Gen 7. I like the Gen 7 cars but nascars current package is a damn joke.
The 2010 season. NASCAR switches back to the small rear spoiler to solve the airborne aerodynamics problem from the big wings, Daytona's asphalt was coming apart, the Edwards and Keselowski vendetta erupts into a war, the brutal Elliott Sadler crash at Pocono that would change the face of Pocono Raceway forever, and NASCAR teammates that didn't get along ignites into feuds such as Jamie McMurray and Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin and Scott Speed and Brian Vickers.
This was my first season watching the Cup series, even though I didn't watch all of the races at that time. Thank god years later, RUclips became a thing to relive all of the races again.
There was a channel that uploaded compilation videos on big wrecks, big ones or bigger ones. Not just as Daytona and Talladega but at other tracks as well. He would put the name of the track and the number of cars that were in the wrecks. But sadly the channel got taken down.
I hated it when they got rid of the rear wing, the wing 100% made the cup cars unique to the trucks and nationwide series. The spoiler just looks generic. Yes I know the wing made the cars airborne, but nascar could’ve made the wing a couple inches smaller so there’s no gap to get the car airborne.
Laws of physics I don't think would have liked that idea sadly. I actually quite liked the look of the wing too, I thought it made the cars look badass but it's one of the few cases where I'm willing to make that sacrifice any day of the week for the sake of safety. (That and it made the "stock cars" look much less "stock", though they aren't even stock anyway so-)

This was the year I graduated high school.... as a Gordon fan.... school was just like that NASCAR season.... weird and bittersweet.
