It’s so fun returning to China, Matt. My wife and I were able to spend nearly six weeks there late last year and early this year. Always new things to see and experience! Enjoy your time.
hi my friend, glad to see you back in china. my wife is from ningbo as well. enjoy family and friends and food! hope to meet you one day. greetings from Germany! ... my wife, my kids and i do annual health checks in ningbo as well. although services in Germany are not bad, we are impressed about how modern the facilities are, especally outpatient clinics.
Lol, even metropolis like Shenzhen has changed a lot, during your "escape" from China, Shenzhen has finished building three more CBDs, not buildings, CBDs.
I started following you right after you got hit by that truck many years ago (but after the fish tank videos). There are YT channels that show nothing but how bad life is in China. But there are other channels (like this channel) that show it's not all bad in China. Thanks Matt.
It certainly feels this way! China is like a country designed for modern living standards, whereas the US, in comparison, is like the world in Westworld or The Last of Us. I love the US for its feeling of wilder freedom, but I don't want to live forever in the wild.
@@thefourthrabbit9516well I promise you one thing you will absolutely never ever have a world where us is number two China is number one that will not happen or well. We'll be like the dinosaur.
Oh there's not a thing he can say that would change anything. You got to remember in the US. We already see him one way. So his words will fall on deaf ears over here.
Love that use of "escape". I had a Chinese student once who told me that she "escaped school for a year" to study English. I just found that to be a fun way of expressing it!!
I recognise some of the Ningbo spots. I used to live in Yinzhou area. Good times! We had the fortune of seeing some locals dry their laundry by hanging them on coat hangers in the trees outside our apartment building. No joke! 🙊
Great to see you back in China. It have been 6 yrs since I have been there. I worked in Weifang China for 2yrs in 2004 to 2006. You are right about the driving, and even more in a smaller town. Love Hot Pot too
We have been going back to Ningbo these past 2 summers and I have the exact same feeling: Ningbo is quiet and not crowded unlike those tier-1 tourist cities. My parents’ home is near the Sam’s in Yinzhou and the shopping mall is pretty much empty. You don’t have to worry about finding a seat on subway. Enjoy your time and looking forward to more videos!
Just few years ago I had business trip to visit NingBo Port, on the express way from airport to sea port , miles after miles of factories spread to horizon must be millions of them, that's the mighty industrialized China looks like, totally stunning. Guess that what the first Japanese pearl harbour POWs have seen and felt when they were transported by amerian railway to east coast
Hey Matt! I was just in China recently as well (Zhenjiang, Jiangsu and various cities in Xinjiang) but I actually love those AliPay bikes! You said the seats were too low but they're adjustable (took me a while to figure out). There are two quick-loosen systems, one that operates similar to a quick-release lever, and a larger more ergonomic lever that pulls up towards the seat. So true about road rage comparison, i drove around Xinjiang and i LOVED the lack of road rage. it actually changed the way i drive in Canada, i feel a lot less road rage now even when others are aggresive
Looks so clean there. I'm in Tacoma Washington now and some wandering zombie with a plastic bag on their head (to protect from rain?) just had to be pulled out of some guys vehicle by a lot cop that happened to be watching. Enjoy the massage 😜
That's how I felt as well going back to China. But there is always some dirtiness, chaos and madness along with the modern infrastructure and organized society. China is almost like if you merge Japan, Poland and South East Asia into a single country. The other day I complained on the internet about drug addicts wandering around where I live (Canada) and other Canadians were like that's normal for the downtown areas of big cities, what do you expect. It's not normal in East Asia or certain eastern European countries.
This summer when I visited Nanchang, I got cold and felt headache after too much AC cold air. My sister drove me to hospital and ordered two CT scan, one blood test for me through emergency care. I was surprise thinking this is too much for just getting cold -- and this should take me easily 3 month waiting after two appointments at least here in US. However in Nanchang it took me less than one hour to finish head CT and Chest CT and blood test. I was told to come back after 2 hours for result, which we did. So after having dinner, roughly within 4 hours in total I got 2 huge CT scan film through the machine, doctor's analysis via reading the film and graph on PC, blood test result explanation, and of course medicine for my cold. In total it costed me ~660rmb without insurance. In US I don't know but I guess it can easily cost me $600 or more after Insurance. This is crazy cheap and fast in China!
China is where the government works for the people and Murica is where the government works for the corporations. That's why infrastructure and public convenience keep improving while in Murica bridges keep collapsing.
You can see the Murica government works on dominating the world desparately trying to contain China, not for its people. When they see some curves going momentarily, they will claim success. And the people still waiting for the fixes. The Murica internal leadership only plays numbers games and a bunch of BS. There is no growing anymore.
hey hey lucky for you, I rode bikes on the sidewalk in Shanghai and it was a straight 200 yuan penalty! 🤣🤣🤣 Chinese here btw, subscribed when in China and now studying medicine in the US. Love you content.
Many shanghai people were originated from Ningbo, Shanghai dialect is deeply influenced by Ningbo dialect, because Shanghai was a fishing village 200 years ago, while Ningbo was a big city.
Initially, COVID-19 emerged, succeeded by a cost of living crisis, and subsequently, a global recession unfolded. Consequently, the Canton Fair seemed futile, and unsurprisingly, very few Europeans or Americans attended this year's event. This is particularly alarming as it portrays a grim forecast of impending developments.
We have a serious problem with aggressive driving in the US and it takes seeing a place without that culture to open your eyes to it. I hope at some point there will be a campaign to change it, just like there was to stop smoking. Just a small change in culture would save thousands of lives.
I did a similar thing in Thailand mixing up my words years ago. I asked a lady in shopping mall where I could get a handbag. What I didn't realise was I was actually asking her where could I get a testicle bag..... Apparently the words for both are quite similar but they have a different tone.....the joys of trying to learn a new language that's tonal.. 😂 😂 😂
I'm glad to watch your videos in China again. To be honest, I stopped watching your videos in the US because they are not very interesting. About the drinking... It's only in the US people get pissed off being cut off while driving. I saw people in Europe also changing lanes like crazy but that is normal to them. I think Americans need to learn to be calm like the rest of the world.
Man you should have brought the trike Matt, I bet they would have been in Awh of that monster! I understand though just being there for 3 weeks I guess it wouldn’t be worth it especially if you arnt going to have much time to ride.
Makes me love centuries old European cities and narrow streets even more. And gosh how I miss your unfinished tour around the world by trike videos. I'm totally not interested in a stupid camper van for lazy asses. That ain't adventure. Ah well, being away from your wife and kid for months wasn't all that responsible either. No mystery why people criticized you when they read "I'm going back to China". They thought you would leave them behind again stuck in Trumponia.
Your sister and friends are so friendly and helpful. Good Chinese for American (non ABC American 😊). Will you meet any other legendary China RUclipsrs like Daniel, gweilo or 老 Lee Barrett?
man, i miss your videos about china. hope one day you guys will go back
I would just LOVE to go to China one day!!! Such a dream. So glad to see you smiling again Matt!
Your volgs, just like normal Chinese street views, make people feel so extremely happy and comfortable. Well done 👍 bro!

Ningbo Center - 409 meters tall (1340ft), definitely one of the tallest buildings in China (and World probably).
