    I really love the look of these helmets. Wish I could get one with DOT for use in the states.

    Helmet looks good. I’m shopping for a new one now.
    With handlebars, I was contemplating taller bars or maybe trying beach bars. In the meantime, I just pushed the stock bars forward an inch. Made a huge difference for me.

    I love Johnny Reb as a brand I had some great boots for many years and they were awesome. I’d love to have one of those helmets. I’ve got two open faced ones as well and they are bobble headed too. Motorcycle Stuff looks like they gonna be my place to shop, thanks to you Rob. 👍🏾👍🏾💯

    Not a bad looking helmet, I've been toying with an open face for the shorter local rides. I may have to try and find one 🤘

    I think I've tried nearly every open face on the market in Australia and unfortunately there's not many I'd recommend for removing the EGG HEAD look... However, I've found that Eldarado (Johnny Rebel) and Scorpion Baron are as close you'll get before anything else and yes, you could spend 4 times as much and end up worse in the looks department. The exception being Arai's open face... The cheapies mentioned are a good alternative.

    • @ThrottleDownunder
      @ThrottleDownunder  2 года назад +1

      I haven't seen the Arai open faces. I'll have to check them out

    Rob go to MCAS and check out the Scorpion Custom Baron helmet which is the open face helmet I wear. It is probably very similar to the JB one but has been available for a few years now.

  • @olironrider8918
    @olironrider8918 3 года назад

    Really a nice helmet.
    One question... what’s the measurement of your head?
    Mine is about 55mm and fits into a “small” size on most helmets.
    But most helmet manufacturers use only 2 or 3 shell sizes. So you can wind up with a large shell size helmet that’s just stuffed with extra padding to fit a small sized head.
    Your new helmet really does look well suited for your size head.
    Thanks.... Stay safe..

  • @gusf8451

    it's not the helmet, you've got a small head, mine is XXL I look like a bubble head in any DOT helmet.

    How's the wind noise in the ears on this? My current open face is a 1/2 shell helmet and wind noise is a shocker. Roughly $$$?

    • @ThrottleDownunder

      Pretty good. However I only use this locally. I haven't been over 80km/h with it.

      Throttle Downunder thanks mate. I'd only be wearing it locally also. Though a couple of the local bypass roads are 100kph for a couple of kms. Guess it would be better to have a shell over the ears rather than a leather bib. 👍🏻

    Rob, any update on how the Johnny Reb helmet is going after 6 months use? How does it perform at highway speeds? Any issues with it rising up with the wind or is it pretty snug.

    • @ThrottleDownunder

      G'day mate. I have had no issues at all with the helmet. Bear in mind that I only use it around town and i have a fairing.

    Interesting vid.
    I'm the exact opposite - Can't abide full face lids.
    Get totally claustrophobic in them.
    Having said that, I can see the benefits on a long run - protection, noise, etc.
    As an aside - One of my pet hates are the wombats you see scooting around the 'burbs rocking their open face helmet fully masked up with their 'dont f*ck with me' skull designs or variants ...
    Fair enough out on the open road when its dusty/raining/really cold (the original purpose)
    ... Other than that, why?
    One can only conclude they're either pretending their some sort of wanted badass riding 'undercover' or, their actual pussies worried about their complexion and future modelling contracts.
    Either way, perfect candidates for a full face... with the obligatory mirrored screen ;-)

    No matter how short the trip might be, you are still at risk of crashing your motorcycle and landing smack down onto your face! The street verses your face? The street will always win and you’ll end up having a face that is permanently disfigured.

    You in NO WAY look like a bubble-head or whatever. This coming from an ultra-critical helmet buyer. Heck, I even ordered the Italian supposedly handmade DMD carbon/kevlar which cost over 450 bucks U.S. shipped from Italy and is one of THE lowest profile law-compliant helmets anywhere, and they make them in two shell sizes.
    Might give this one a try as I find the DMD to still being a bit mushroom headed in the looks department for my taste. But, it's a super comfortable, quality helmet that is ECE and DOT compliant.
    Also, too bad you don't have American subtitles in the video so that us foreigners can understand better, ha!
