Definitely a top notch video, your camerawork including closeups and detailed instruction made for an excellent solution to a common problem. Great job!
What I liked best was just the idea of for using a old rotor as a stabilization platform for while getting the race off the hub! Thanks Phillips Vision!
This is the best system Ive seen. Thanks for the schooling. Im gonna be doing this to my sons BMW E60 tomorrow morning. You get genius point from me my friend. The moment I saw the hub on the rotor, I was amazed at your idea since I dont have a bench press or a hydraulic wheel bearing press. Great job!!!
This saved my bacon today! I ran out and bought that set right after I watched this vid. I used a round bar end cut-off as a spacer for the first pull, then a socket between the cut-off and the hub.
I would have sold my soul to get the racer out I was working with. I finally gave in, and bought a hand sledge and chisel. It was out in 2 minutes after working for hours on it for days
Would not work for my project to day with changing races out on a LippertComponents hub for camper. No edge to tap on and had to pay a machine shop to do the outer race. $115.00.
If you were doing this at home and had plenty of time I guess this is fine. In a workshop you would generally just cut a few slots in the race with a grinder and chisel it till it cracks. After that it will come off pretty easy
of all steps necessary to maintain a trailer and replace wheel bearings, this is by far the hardest step if you don't plan ahead and buy the right tools. oh well, live and learn.
Hi have you ever removed a hub with a sealed bearing that was OK , left the cage on the hub and reinstalled the bearing .....or should you replace it ?
I don't know how you get this to work..... It looks so easy here.... I've used this separator time after time and I can never get it to work..... the puller aways pulls off the race and I can never get it to work.............. then usually have to resort to a grinder or dremmel tool.
if your race is a larger diameter than this you are still screwed. I bought this and my porsche race was more than the diameter on the larger tool. The bolts wouldn't even come out the other side. Maybe there is a larger model.
Yes, I believe I zipcut as much as I could at an angle, but was probably unnecessary. I then put a small notch in a chisel to catch the lip, and tap tap tap. Works fine on a clean shaft.
Great video. Direct to the point. You can tell front he very start, he was serious, the procedure, involved and he did not waste time!

Thanks for the feedback; glad it helped👍
Thanks so much. I knew how to use the tool but I couldn't think of what to use to push off. The socket with a bolt in the center is pure genius.

probably best to keep the hub for the new bearing if its in good condition, so good to know!
Nice video. Don't forget to grease the threads on the centre load screw.

Michael Grundy 👍
Best extraction so far seen..
always very well lubricate screw which applies pressure, makes life easier and prolongs screw's life...

Thank you! Great video.
Can I re use the race bearing again if it's not damaged???
I would not, just replace it with new
@@PhillipsVision is this part of the wheel bearing or are these 2 different parts?
@@louielou8262 it’s the inner part of the bearing
@@PhillipsVision thank you Sir 🙏🏼 I bought new wheel bearings 😁

fudge i am dremeling mine vs that i love the dremel... old one got stolen oh well time for new
How do you prevent this? Polaris says not to use anti seize
i have honda pilot 2005 i tried this, but seems like the 5 ton bearing puller doesnt have enough width to go over the race..
Can you use this to remove the wheel hub as well?
No, you will need a hub puller. Here’s a video I did showing how to use one ruclips.net/video/7BmiCGuNfA8/видео.html

Sealed bearings are easy to replace as one part so I always replace the entire piece

Unfortunately won't work on some cars that have an abs ring behind the hub.
Thank you

You are awesome!!!
Pretty awesome
Great Vid but the method will not work on Honda bearing Race....
What if the other piece is stuck on a spindle
Did you use a hub puller?
Good vid
It's so good, but it takes more time

Race separator is almost to small/ I need a bigger one.
Just score it with a grinder and hit it with a cold chisel. Cracks every time
Dude you're my hero!! I just did what you said and it worked. Slid right off the hub. Unbelievable.
Lot of work for a 5 minute job with a chisel
