I'm struggling with the same problem. I try to clean regularly, but still... Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I try to embrace it. Because... I'm definitely not a minimalist. I like to play with shapes, colours styles and moods and it brings me joy - sometimes I feel very feminine, other times sporty, fancy, masculine, lazy, casual, exposed, hidden....

Funny thing I have to share...I have had my eye on the red, white and blue striped H&M sweater (jumper) for awhile now and got so excited to see it on the rack! And then...Jo wanted to keep it!!! Oh well, it might not be a "forever piece" and you get rid of it one day. Are the pieces that you don't want being sold on your ebay and depop for the most part?
