Literally NEVER seen him talk or much footage outside this video and maybe two others. These dudes are so underrated amongst post-punk and goth music and I have no idea why it seems that way, because they were always a favorite of mine.
Oh my GODDDDDDD..... This is absolutely amazing. Steve has such a lovely voice and I have fallen in love even deeper than before. Thank you so much for posting this....
@@mikionaruse me too - I first saw it at 3am 2 weeks ago and could not sleep as got over excited LOL! Not too great here but just how it is. This sure cheered me up tho! xx
As a Barnsley lad myself, quite surprised how mild Steve's accent is in this. I left Barnsley Technical College's (where Steve used to work as a lab technician) cassette copy of "Heaven is Waiting" on the X19 bus to Doncaster on the way home from school by mistake.
His accent reminded me of Alex Turners from Arctic Monkeys and then looked up his hometown etc..I can say as an American I feel quite proud of myself now for recognizing regional English accents ❤ No prizes for that though haha
It is a mystery why they slipped under the radar, but even with the support of the likes John Peel (session, 1982) and numerous smaller clubs/pubs/colleges that probably don't exist anymore several other incredible bands also did not seem to get the recognition they deserved; Comsatt Angels, The Chameleons..
Wow! That is really rare. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember they had fallen under the Stock Aitken and Waterman production team to come up with a hit ala Dead Or Alive. Sadly Say It Again was their last single and they never made it to the'mainstream'. Their debut album is great though.
Very rare interview with the enigma that is Steve Rawlings! I prefer Danse Society's initial album. It is quite an interesting piece of work but this period (as shown in the video) is way too commercial and plastic for me. I have seen them live when they played their first show as the reunited band in 2011. I had the good fortune of meeting Paul Nash and Paul Gilmartin, guitarist and drummer for Danse Society.
Ooh Danse Society....i do miss.Where does vox Steve live now+why dont they reform+tour? Lavina Kymille Morticia,1985 only legal self estranged xwife@Sebastian Bach@Madam X+Skid Row.
Dont like hearing this track as it kinda marks the beginning of the end to Danse Society for me. DS were always faves of mine along with Bauhaus, Virgin Prunes, SGC, Theatre of Hate etc and in comparison to other stuff of theirs, this was quite MOR. Such a shame as for me, it felt like their early stuff set the tone/template to the musical style of goth rock. Wake Up 12" was my first purchase of theirs swiftly followed by Heaven is Waiting 12". Cant remember the festival but was so great to see them do clock. Surprisingly, they were still a little unknown amongst some not that long before their end.

😩♥️
saw them support killing joke in the early 80s
there was never much chance of them blowing the joke off stage
Aww ! Little Steve, took him to his first gig in Sheffield. I wonder what happened to him ?
He lives in L.A. now. I went to school wi him and various things after.
@@kathrynwilcock178 hello. Is there anyway to communicate with hom
He's like me if I was in an interview, so laid-back and nonchalant. You can tell Steve does not want to be there.

Barnsley is in Yorkshire, the same county as Whitby.
