In this video we discuss how to easily gear your paladin to be able to tank Karazhan as soon as you hit level 70! A lot of people have been struggling with Paladin gearing for tanking. Within two hours of hitting 70 I was main tanking Karazhan including a Prince clear! I was able to pull this off by focusing on certain items before hitting level 70, and I want to share this path with you so that you can hit the ground running as soon as you ding 70. It only took me a single black morass run to reach revered. If you hold off on turning in the quest to enter BM until you hit honored, you'll get 3000 rep boost into revered, and the BM quest awards 8000 rep. It does mean you'll be doing a few more durnholde runs, but you can do those at an earlier level.

Not sure if you pointed it out or not, but the belt you have for the Kara set, is Aldor only. Do you have a tip for Scryer? Only one i can find comparable is the one from Black Morass heroic.

My Warchiefs mantle is red and yellow not blue and yellow is it random for everyone?

I'm currently leveling my prot pally but i am wondering what kind of quests you HAVE to do when you come to outland? Like do i need to start questing in hellfire peninsula/zangar .... or can i just grind instances?
4.5k+ life and 100+ sp is min req to tank instances to level.
I'm a new player and that's what I bought via greens in AH and have had no problems so far. I'm 63 and doing SP.
Only quest I did was first couple in Thrallmar.

From honored till exalted in shattered halls, have not seen the figurine of collosus, even once.
My paladin is wearing almost this exact gear. Just can't get the ring to drop from arc and I'm not exalted yet for the shield, but I am exalted with LC for the epic mace.
I'm not sure the idea behind the mace as to why so many people think it's so much better, but the sword from Honor Hold is generally considered the best option has having a faster weapon is preferred in most situations for a prot pally. The higher stamina really isn't a big deal, equating to about 140 health after your talent and blessing of kings bonus. This does not make up for having more procs for your various judges and seals, which can vastly improve your dps or mana efficiency.
Also the rep for the sword could be farmed almost entirely before you hit 70 since Shattered Halls can be done at 68.

Avengers Shield is not affected by spell hit. It's based on your melee hit chance

On the "Pre-70 Gear" list you have both Kaylaan's Spaulders and Girdle of the lost Vindicator, both of which come from the same quest, you can only pick one.
Ya, so you should definitely go for the shoulders here. Your best pre-BiS belt is actually from the Arcatraz key chain, which unfortunately you have to be 70 for because it requires running all of the TK dungeons which need a flying mount to access. The good news is that these are not very hard so they can be done as soon as you hit 70 and shouldn't be much of a grind at all if you do the non dungeon pre=requisites during your 70 grind.

21:47 .. im like 10 runs of sethekk dry(if not more) no libram, didnt get shield from slabs either, but ive only killed the first boss once
Go for the Shield of the Wayward Footman instead, if you still need a good shield. BOE, I got mine for 50g on AH and there were like 10 of them up.
As a warrior tank I am majorly jelly of what a paladin tank can do, but so thankful that I can just stay in T3 until first kara clear unlike paladins who has to do some major spelunking around outland to get their pre bis :p

Very nice but with the chest, I'd more recommend Jadeskull breastplate, and switch out Trinket for Styleens if you have it!
Now correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure even you are def capped and you start casting avengers shoeld mid combat you become critable again during the cast
Defense rating reduces chance to be crit (says so right on the character sheet) and I don't think that turns off during a cast but I could be wrong. You are more crushable during a cast though, that is for certain. So casting while an enemy that can crush is hitting you, might be a bad idea.

Sorry it might have been updated when I was messing with sets to figure out defense cap thresholds!!! Hands of the righteous would be the goal, but green gloves out of netherstorm in the video are the pre-Kara ones
The level 70 hellfire peninsula on heroic has a much better pair ok boots that are fantastic.
One generell question. Is the solo pal zf pull bettter vs the mara boost exp? Wanna know how to lvl my pala

Just to add my experience, i did 66-70 in no time via the BM farm. Also made around 1.8k in the process.
@Arlaeus this video needs an update with the new phase 2 pvp gear. Some of it is pretty decent when you just hit 70.
For a fresh 58/60 pally would you recommend the "Of the Sorcerer" or "Of the Champion" or a mix for gear, or just what would you recommend for easy gear for a fresh 58/60 pally?
I recommend quest till 64 and acquire some quest gear with spell damage , stam on

Lvl 68 with 245 SP and 450 defense. Just had figurine drop on first run through Shattered Halls along with helm of the Unbreakable. Now if I could just upgrade my sporrager rep shield 😂.
Do you have a video explaining rotations? I normally will go in use max conc, max, hs, then after that use rank 1 conc/hs to preserve mana. I am currently lv 65. Also when you say do MT to unlock the boot quest, does that mean complete it?
yes the boots are a reward form the quest .Yes the quest is a escort quest . you will have to fight some spawned in packs on the way back to the begining of the dungeon. So its better to do a full clear .

Dang... makes me wanna make a pally and learn tanking
I followed this vid, got almost all the same gear. My stats are almost identical. Went into my first heroic (MT) and got 2 shotted on first boss. After wiping 3 times group fell apart. So frustrating to need better gear but unable to tank heroics due to current gear. I don't get how anyone can get past this point, its like a catch 22.
It looks like your post 70 gearset still is not avoidance capped (102.4), is that going to be effective when you go in and tank heroics and Kara for the first time?
You are quoting "102.4" yet still ask if the gear is sufficient....?
It's fine for heroics because the bosses are level 72, not 73, which means they can't hit you with a crushing blow. Although the more avoidance the better to help reduce how much damage you take and put less strain on your healer. If you are off tanking in kara, it should also be fine for most fights. However, if you plan on main tanking the bosses in Karazhan you will want to be at the avoidance cap of 102.4% in order to not receive crushing blows.
If you are aldor, you can get an excellent belt itemized for prot paladin. Lengthy quest chain though.

I got 50k honor and dozens of badges from pre-patch. So i think about buying at least Pendant of Dominance, Sergeant's Heavy cape and Marshal's Lamellar Braces. Any thoughts on those? It can be a very hard choice I guess because they "only" have resilience as a defensive stat, but they have a lot of spellpower as well. Would be great to hear your (or other) opinions on those as they are never metioned anywhere. I guess because after launch it's just not worth the grind as you can get equally good drops from many Heroics. But I got the honor anyways...
Well my understanding was that resilience does not help in PVE at all . Defence is defence . And Res is a pvp stat. One pvp item i know was talked about was the Arena weapon as being good for pally ,Because of the spell power on the weapon.
@@davidduncan7930 Resilience reduces chance to be crit. That still applies during PVE. Your understanding is based on later expansions where Resilience was changed to no longer have any effect on PVE encounters. That is not the case in The Burning Crusade. Tanks can get and use Resilience.
Get them. Use them. They are good. Just remember to get "chance to be crit" reduction total to 5.6% (or higher) when adding both the Resilience and Defense together.

i would like to reccomend the cooking recipe '''stormchops'' which does aoe lightining damage for at least 500dmg and its really nic to have that extra threat when u do aoe packs.
Meh, someone in 2007 at wowhead who had 475 spell dmg on their character did the math for stormchops, and someone with 750 confirmed it is not boosted by spell dmg.
- only hits 2 targets even if there are more around you
- does 19-31 damage with an average of 24, regardless of +spelldmg
- at best, stormchops causes 48 damage every 8 seconds, or 6 dps
I learned today that they are great for PvP though. They hit stealthed players near you and will take them out of stealth lol.

Pearl gives more stamina and SP. How much does resilience help with defense rating?
Use black pearl over resilience. Def is much better than resilience. For every 2.5 def rating you gain .16 avoidance.

Just a small tip for anyone thinking about doing Ring of Blood at the earliest level you can: if you save Ring of Blood for level 69 it gives 3 full bars of XP at 69.
So? Are you drunk? The amount of xp is 100% identical at 65, 66, 67, 68, 69. So do it at 65, get the weapon for leveling faster, and get to level 66 faster. 😂👌
What seal is he using?
The one allies get at 64 cant remember the name but it puts a holy dot on the target that stacks up to 5 times
Seal of Corruption for horde | Seal of Vengeance for alliance
@@TheFlyingKitten22 Unless I'm doing it wrong the seal isn't great since it's a chance on hit rather than every hit.
I tend to use Righteous on the pull for better initial threat judge it for a lil bit more threat then switch to vengeance.

Old school TBC prot pally here. Resillience does NOT reduce your chance to be crit. The tooltip says so, but it was wrong and in the Wrath pre-patch the tooltip was changed to say in PVP situations. What resilience does do is reduce critical strike damage by up to a maximum of 30 percent. Only defense rating will reduce your chance to be crit. I know this is confusing, and Blizzard failed to communicate this in the past and is continuing to fail at communicating. I was one of the people who tried resilience back in TBC to tank heroics because I had a ton of honor and BG marks. Even though I had reached the resilience crit cap, I was being crit left and right. Try it for yourself, look at your combat log with resilience. You will find that you will still be crit.

Well that's on you, right? Make sure to be on the appropriate layer where you have the buff which enables bosses in Auch to drop shards
