I don't really agree with the watch rule, i would rather wear a cheap watch that looks sick and is comfortable rather than a 100k watch that weighs 5 pounds due to there being diamonds and titanium or some shit.
This my routine : I stay on calorie deficit and do situps and planks then I do upper body exercises ..WITH DUMBBELLS without cardio. Can get abs with this routine
Decline situps are better than situps on the ground. You could also do hanging leg raises (just search for examples on yt), this exercise is just as good as decline situps. If you want to work the upper abs a little bit more you could add cable crunches to your routine (again, search for examples on yt). I like to do all these exercises in the 8-12 rep range but you can go as high as 20 reps if you want, all that matters is that your last rep of each set is within 0-2 reps shy of failure since that's really important for muscle growth. My advice would be to do cable crunches and either decline situps or hanging leg raises. So you'll be doing 2 exercises, 3 sets per exercise (6 total per workout, 12 total per week), 2 times a week. Obviously, you should reduce the volume a little bit if your abs are still sore after 3 days and it's time for your next workout. If you reduce the volume, start by doing 1 set less per session (5 instead of 6 sets) So you could then be doing 3 sets of decline situps and 2 sets of cable crunches. Also, your bodyfat percentage matters a lot if you want your abs to show all the time. You don't have to be extremely lean, around 15% bodyfat should be enough. Don't forget to eat enough protein and calories each day, otherwise your body won't be able to build new muscle and stay consistent👍
