How often are you gonna cut your spokes to meed a repair like this?
Spokes never break in the middle.
My thoughts are the same! Either they break at the threads or the hook. Plus one can see the "break" looks like it was cut with those lineman pliers 😂

I have actually had a few break in the middle. When they're too loose, it can happen.

@jdjdjdjdkskdkrosldifkckc maintenance really has nothing to do with broken spokes unless the spokes have been allowed to get very loose which is usually a result of impacting the wheel into a curb, etc.
You can drive further without one spoke, but this repair can cause the spoke to come off and jam the front wheel, causing the driver to fly out over the steering wheel.

Yep, that zip tie will disintegrate from all the weather...I know because I tried hanging signs on my dog pen with them.

As a mechanic, people do it with cars _constantly._ People will tell me stuff like "I love 3rd gen Camaros, but the transmissions are made of glass," simply because they've owned a total of _one 3rd gen Camaro_ and the transmission happened to fail.
Es mejor que te falte un rayo a arreglarlo asi Realmente la informacion no es buena ni la menor idea de lo que hace si se partio un rayo asi como dice a la mitad es mejor quitarle el rayo o cortarlo en los extremos segun sea el caso en lo que llegas a algun lugar donde te lo arreglen y no hacer esto es mas peligroso que seguro los rayos normalmente se parten por el retenedor u orificio cerca de la masa si hacen esto es probable que se suelte y se enreden en los demas rayos y salgan volando en cuanto menos lo piensen

Not sure if the sun is the biggest factor. Zip ties are made from ABS. I think creep due to constant pressure and temperature changes will eventually result in this failing but it should work for a bit.

It wll get you home. This is an issue on a road bike in the case of mountain bike spokes, sam Pilgrim and a friend did a video to see how many spokes had to be cut to wreck the wheel during a jump. They had to cut a lot of spokes.
Spokes are in tension. You can now by flxible spokes that work as well or better than steel spokes.

Those pliers you are using were the ones that cut the spoke in the first place. Don’t cut it and you don’t need “hacks”
