National integration can not be achieved as long as Punjab and Punjabis would continue to dominate armed forces, society, business, politics, beaurocracy, and other fields.

Wonderful timing sir i was having such a hard time wrapping my head around the conventional sheikh ahmad sirhindi shahwali ullah and than Ssak TwoNT ratta as the foundation of muslim nationalism. We can give ourselves as many mental orgasms as we want with the lack or failure of a myriad elements as the cause of national disintegration.
But infact the reality is we have never invested in actually creating a national identity besides the one we imagined as a discursive tool for furthering our cause (thanks alot for the fresh perspective)

Very informative and useful lecture to understand the strategy of nationalism. Added to this, there were many other factors running in parallel before the independence and it gets more complicated after the independence when a newly created state lost their key leaders and captured by the bureaucracy and military. With the character of Muhammad Ali Jinnah I am confident that his idea of a post independent country was totally different of what it has become under the dominance of poor intellect rulers. The correct word to explain the situation is قحط الرجال.

*We need* to look at both sides ....the atrocities perpetrated upon the people of South Asia....upon the Muslims & non Muslims by both the bigger communities.
Why was South Asia divided while today equal or more Muslims are living in the present India ?
Who spread rumours of the killing of Muslims by Sikhs & Hindus and vice-versa ? And why...?
Innumerable non Muslims were also killed in 1947. The main reason for starting such communal atrocities was non religious....those were the properties... movable and immovable.
Even immigrant Muslim were plundered, looted and killed in their Lahore camps, just to deprive them of their precious valuables.
The Mall road Lahore and other near vicinity business / trading areas of Lahore were in red blood owing to loot & plunder / killing by local (Muslim) population.
*Need not to further mention by whom....!!!*
Who got the calculated benefits of the division of South Asia...as of today ?
Was oil , the "Liquid Gold" main reason to deter USSR by dividing South Asia....by the then two super power ?
We need to recall division of South Asia and post WWs politics with reference to....
    ........,
Newly independent majority poor nation states,
    New colonialism,
    Imperialism,
    Economic-cum-military aid,
    Industrialization,
Nixon's- Nexus of 1969 for $-based oil trading,
    PL-480 aid ,
Rise of American International Banking system & it's spread,
Cartelization by MNCs / their colossal profits,
Role of WB/ADB & IMF, ME politics,
    Afghan war ..... etc etc
    ..
    ..

Thanks for the dissemination of your knowledge. In the words of Khalil Gibran,
"Was it I who spoke ?
    Was I not also a listener ? "
    My Query :
Did Jinnah know that South Asia is going to be divided by the then "intelligence agencies of the USA / UK ? If yes. Then who is responsible for the butchering of (unofficially) two million innocent by birth Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs ....as well as displacement / migration of three million peacefully living people ?
Why loot and plunder based butchering was named as ethnic killing ?
Stay blessed with your family and friends 🏵️

Like you said we adopted the model of nationalism in the race of anti-colonialism spontaneously india did the same, then why there is a very clear demarcation between both ?

Integration is impossible, for instance, Balochistan shares the largest land but the population is the smallest, richest in resources but yet poorest, As they are the smallest population their vote will never matter in the federal system for decision making. being the richest with natural resources and land with a different identity and history, are they stupid to give up their resources, culture, identity, land, and history to integrate into a brutal useless state????? What does she have to offer for Baloch and Pashtuns???

Professor sahb u took a long trp of the world to reach at the end to multination concept. I agree that a multination or a fedration sort of provincial arrangment wud have been the best. Mujeeb has in fact suggested the same solution in his 6 points which was interpreted as treason by army. Anyway there r some big hindrances first to work on n pass first. Among it are:
Changing british colonial governance style ie non democratic authoritarian, feudal based n religiously segmented society. Our origin n current system is continuation of British colonial system replacing Britain with army estb.

It wasn't Bengali nationalism but so many other factors that became the reason for the secession of East Bengal.
If any ideology may be tagged to BOTH leaders of east and west wings, then it should be a mild variant of National Socialism.
They were neither liberals nor did they represent the National Bourgeoisie and it's National Democratic charter.
We can have national integration through the introduction of Sindhu Boli dialects as a compulsory subject that connects our geographical linguistic and cultural dots from Hindkoh in the north to Hindavi in the east and Sindhi in the South.
We haven't even understood our defined our cultural historical region because we don't want to recognise our people for who they are and don't wish to acknowledge our true identity. We're like the lost tribes of Israel who were lost primarily due to the same rabbinical dogma which has poisoned our National soul not just since 47 but since several centuries which witnessed the growing influence of turko persiates and their lackeys in the land of the pure.
We first need to get rid of those evil ghosts that are haunting us so that we are properly decolonized. The Brits were not the first Westerners nor the first colonisers.
If westernization is such a great evil, then that de-westernization must start from centuries before the Brits came.
The economic exploitation and plunder of our resources and ethnic / cultural cleansing unleashed at our people for centuries by these Turko persians is the reason for our today's National identity crises since it was the same bastardised elite which dragged us through an ill thoughtout and badly planned partition to preserve their own false titles gains and identity which was built on our backs and through our bloody sacrifices.
These good for nothing foreign ingrates have molested our national character consciousness and self-image as a people society and nation.
Decolonising the mind is as much important as liberating our land from foreign occupation and dominion.
    Nothing short of complete independence!
