    It's a great opportunity for city planners and landscapers to develop highly planned and sustainable cities along the lines of Japanese, Korean cities since majority of the land is empty, so much space for greenfield development. Authorities shouldn't fall for builders lobby. This corridor looks one of the most promising ones in whole MMR region for high potential and growth factoring close proximity to Navi Mumbai Airport, MTHL, JNPT and closer to Pune as well. They should invite MNCs, Educational Institutes, Health and Research Institutes, etc. They should also invite foreign architects to design proper town planing for this corridor.

      5th and 6th line will be a waste of money if done before the 3rd and 4th line between virar and dahanu are completed.
      only then will the 5th and 6th line make any sense.

      also until the missing section of 5th line between khar and Mahim is not completed, it wont make any difference.
      if the 5th line gets completed first, a lot of outstation trains can be shifted onto the 5th track ( in both directions as that line is bi-directional with bypass at Borivali, Andheri, Dadar existing and need to create at Bandra.
      that would really be a game changer in Mumbai railways .

    8:55 Few trains from Khopoli should run through this route -> Khopoli-Karjat-Panvel-HarbourLine-CSMT. For that, provisions should be made to connect the old existing routes to this new route.

      i think, ,most of the khopoli trains will be diverted to this route after the panvel karjat tracks gets built. it will save a lot of time for those living in karjat -khopoli region.

      Harbour line me fast local ke liye additional tracks nhi he ise Jada fayda nhi hoga panvel se Thane/kurla ke liye 50 min ke aspas lagte he aur csmt ke liye ek ghante se upar jabtak csmt-panvel fast line nhi hoti tab tak koi fayda nhi

      The only problem would be karjat panvel belapur kurla cstm corridor will remain as slow train corridor because of 2 lines whereas whereas cstm kakyan karjat corridor will have fast suburban trains. Also kakyan badalaour 3rd and 4th line will extend fast trains till badalaour. Which means the time taken to reach to karjat by both the corridors will remain almost same because of fast line corridor of main line. However frequency of cstm karjat trains would be much higher on panvel karjat corridor compared with mainline kalyan karjat corridor. Cstm karjat distance via panvel is 78 kms whereas as cstm karjat via kalyan is 100 kms.. 22 kms shorter

      Kalyan Badlapur section can easily work with just a single bidirectional line to take the load off the current two track section.
      it would be faster and economical to create a bidirectional single line till karjat than to simply have two more lines till just badlapur.
      same goes for Kalyan Kasara section. a single bi directional 3rd line between kalyan and kasara would go a long long way in easing the load from the current two track section.
      same is in use on the western railway from Mumbai central to Borivali. but it is stalled from being fully effective due to a missing section between Khar and Matunga. once that gets built, almost all long distance trains can be diverted to the 5th line ( and 6th line from khar onwards) leaving more slots for fast trains on the fast tracks.

    Good update report!
    After the rainy season, the work has picked up pace, but it is lots of work. I think it will be completed by December 2027 !

    Superb presentation, superb drone shots. Really appreciable. The only thing could not be understood is why kalyan yard redevelopment project cannot be presented with the same technique.. Its very important project from the persepective of reducing the suburban travel time on main line

      its lying in dust ...a project of 450 cr was projected woth the viaduct turn over at kalwa to join the trans harbour line .now after 5 yrs no breakthrough ....obviously now the cost muat hv be tripled..this is how govt works 😢

    We are lossing our maharashtra land and its natural beauty of nature people from all over india will come and we loose our Maharashtrian culture, land, nature, the current govt has nothing do with the nature they just want to expand cities leaving no villages, no forest, no agriculture lands nothing will be left, this current govt of Maharashtra cannot make rule like modi's gujarat if land has sell to Maharashtrian farmers only or to Maharashtrian people other state in india can make rules can save there lands then why cant the Maharashtrian people specially this neta log even if they have power they are like businessman servants no love for the state.

    Also want to know the redevelopment of old Railway station, is happening or not.

    If Railway increase the speed of constructions, than will be by end of December 2025 or may extend to March 2026. Because many places construction of station is pending.
    I think, Railway should merge this Panvel - Karjat line with Old station only. It would have been easy for people to catch local train easily. Other thing is that those who want to catch Express from Karjat station, would also be easy to get at old station and catch the express.
