It's a great opportunity for city planners and landscapers to develop highly planned and sustainable cities along the lines of Japanese, Korean cities since majority of the land is empty, so much space for greenfield development. Authorities shouldn't fall for builders lobby. This corridor looks one of the most promising ones in whole MMR region for high potential and growth factoring close proximity to Navi Mumbai Airport, MTHL, JNPT and closer to Pune as well. They should invite MNCs, Educational Institutes, Health and Research Institutes, etc. They should also invite foreign architects to design proper town planing for this corridor.

also until the missing section of 5th line between khar and Mahim is not completed, it wont make any difference. if the 5th line gets completed first, a lot of outstation trains can be shifted onto the 5th track ( in both directions as that line is bi-directional with bypass at Borivali, Andheri, Dadar existing and need to create at Bandra. that would really be a game changer in Mumbai railways .

Kalyan Badlapur section can easily work with just a single bidirectional line to take the load off the current two track section. it would be faster and economical to create a bidirectional single line till karjat than to simply have two more lines till just badlapur. same goes for Kalyan Kasara section. a single bi directional 3rd line between kalyan and kasara would go a long long way in easing the load from the current two track section. same is in use on the western railway from Mumbai central to Borivali. but it is stalled from being fully effective due to a missing section between Khar and Matunga. once that gets built, almost all long distance trains can be diverted to the 5th line ( and 6th line from khar onwards) leaving more slots for fast trains on the fast tracks.

If Railway increase the speed of constructions, than will be by end of December 2025 or may extend to March 2026. Because many places construction of station is pending. I think, Railway should merge this Panvel - Karjat line with Old station only. It would have been easy for people to catch local train easily. Other thing is that those who want to catch Express from Karjat station, would also be easy to get at old station and catch the express.
