I have owned two 40mm subs and sold both and I bought this exact Moser directly from Watchbox, (special thanks to Viki and Tyler) it’s accuracy and quality of refinement is next level. One thing of particular note I noticed with the Moser is as the second hand ticks there is no tiny wiggling of the hand as can be seen on many other watches even Grand Seiko high beats (they address this with a special mechanism on their quartz watches) and as far as divers go I prefer my Grand Seiko evo 9 diver to Rolex, but the Moser might be my favorite watch of any I’ve owned. And I have even considered dumping all my watches and going fully Moser….it’s a magic piece…
I so wish Moser decides to do a production ss version of this, that’s still limited quantity and imo will really provide a global springboard to the brand
I actually went with the Moser. I love this piece and pretty much wear it all the time now. I never put my name on the interest list for a sub. It’s competent, common, and frankly a little schizophrenic for being a “tool” watch, with its signature mix of largely brushed but pinpoint polished textures.
I generally like Moser watches, especially the incredible dials they have, but this one just leaves me cold for some reason. I’d rather have the Sub here
Moser is significantly more expensive without actual usability or quality benefits. Practical person in me say Rolex, watch enthusiast say Moser but very quietly.
It is important to note the Moser is not a dive watch. In order to be a dive watch you have to be able to see the watch is working in low light. That’s why the Sub seconds hand has that little round lume near the end of the hand. Without it the Moser does not qualify. Still a great sports watch though.
I wish watch companies would just go back to regular spring bars to take links out, they are very secure and not a giant pain in the arse like those tiny screws
Fantastic watch but its somehow oddish. Bezel is a bit narrow and the dial is too big. The lumed white numbers and signs on the bezel look " dirty" as they aren't totally white . Bezel color is a bit dull. Color of dial is outerwordish though. Fantastic piece all in all.
This could have been a fantastic watch . No wonder that they discontinued it. The current pioneer and or streamliner models are have much better designs
I tend to not go with the pack, which is why i got a SeaQ panorama date instead of a Sub. The Moser is high horology and much more interesting. The blue fume dial is gorgeous. The case shape is more interesting. The clasp is better. The movement is absolutely gorgeous. The lume is out of this world. And limited to just 100 pieces, the watch is truly rare and special. Easy choice for me.... Moser.
@michaeljordan6008 it's not. I have the Glashutte Sea-Q which has the same hidden clasp. It can be adjusted while on the wrist, better designed, and also smaller. Of course it's subjective, however, it does have more advantages than disadvantages.
I own the sub although not a huge Rolex fan. Moser is beautiful but for double the price I'll stay with the Sub. The fifty fathoms however is another story.
@@garyboyle695 true that. I did pay double for the sub and strongly regret it. Now I'm selling it for a Blancpain FF 45 titanium pre owned which is cheaper than the Sub amazingly. Gray market really makes no sense at all. The Rolex thing makes no sense
You and I both on the Fifty Fathoms! A few years ago I held a Submariner Date in one hand and a Fifty Fathoms, blue dial, titanium, with X-71 in my other hand. Plus I had my old SMP from 1998 on my wrist, allowing me a tri-way examination. The Fifty Fathoms simply can’t be accurately compared, side-by-side to any other diver that I’ve ever inspected. The FF is absolutely extravagant and the Sub, while nice, was simply boring in comparison when held side-by-side. My absolute only pauses with the FF is the X-71’s lack of micro-adjustability and the FF’s overall size but I could look past those two slights.
@@joelopic Best of luck! I might have to pick up a blue dial FF at some point. Or, I’d love to see Blancpain offer their gorgeous Havana brown dial/bezel on the FF. Have you ever seen their Havana brown dial in person? There is simply nothing like it!
Oh my, you forgot my bespoke Billiard, ha ha! It puts them all to shame. Its dial is blue fired titanium guilloché with blued steel hands, indices, and dial printing. It looks like I have blue colored sun lighting on my wrist - I simply can’t describe it! Even the slightest changes of lighting or view angle causes radical changes in its appearance and it constantly looks different than it did ten seconds ago.
The Moser is everything Rolex is not. The Rolex is nice but it's a mass produced item. The Moser is a grail for Me.. Its just incredible! The best dive watch... I absolutely adore this! ❤
The design and dial of the Moser is sublime. Just wish it was in steel instead of titanium. Then I'd find a way to own one for sure. Somehow high-end and titanium just don't go together for me in a watch.
Hi Tim. Great stuff! I would like to see a comparison of the new Daytona Platinum vs the new Day Date Platinum. That would be really great. The Daytonas are known for being 38mm when they are supposed to be 40mm so it would be nice to see the difference between these two heavy hitters :) Thanks for the great videos!
Moser- I prefer the original Pioneer than this rotating bezel edition. Sub- I don't like to judge people based on the watches they wear, but I do see a lot of "bros" and used car salesmen wearing the sub.
@@clf1905 that's true but in general grade 5 is the best grade to use and I doubt luxury brands use any other grades. They barely use grade 2 as well but not at this price point

Great job Tim. The Moser looks beautiful. Dial clarity well above. The pin sleeves on bracelet are a worry though at this price. Subby is too overhyped and not that good. Yes I do own one. All said and done. The true king is the blancpain 5015. Period. Blows them all away.
I probably would rather have the Rolex, but it isn't a luxury watch like Moser; it is a fantastic, mass manufactured production line watch. Rolex is the 5 series BMW, the Moser is more the Aston Martin. But Rolex should have brought out the titanium Sub this year, instead of the Yachtmaster-they even made the case more like the Submariner rather than the elegantly curved case of the traditional Yachtmaster (and like the original Ti Yachtmaster).
There's no competition in my mind Tim, it's the Rolex for me! Hands down, anytime!! (The H.M & CIE is in it's own right superb but not when pitched against a Rolex!)

Its awesome actually, wears more comfortably than the Sub. However I don’t feel comfortable with the price as you can buy a Sub and a couple other watches for $22k
I’d go with the Moser all the way. Longer history, better heritage and infinitely superior quality build, plus that dial is absolutely amazing. Rolex, meh… By the way, I never buy as an investment! Also, to consider this is not an equal comparison as one is an over priced tool watch, where as the other is a quality watch which can look equally as good in the office or out in the field.
