placing this next to the other coasters was super important, now I understand how tall this thing is and it looks awesome, although I really hope there's at least a few more airtime hills after that final dive loop.
@@mattdeclas1825it costs more money, merlin are tight as it is and this is a very expensive project, right now they need what sells - the tallest rollercoaster in the UK, packed with crazy looking elements and massive inversions (notice how most of the coaster is taken massively and looks cut off short), money talks
My thoughts on this in its current form? Easily the best ride in the UK. If the forces inside NL2 are the same in person, this thing will be a top 5 coaster in Europe easily. Insane first drop, ejector out of the non-inverting immelmann, consistent strong floater on the outerbank with some nice whip on the inversion coming out of it, sustained hangtime on the dive stall, and STUPID ejector on the wave turn and final airtime hill. Now if the pacing is killed due to some trims on the drop, the ride will become poor. It will NEED to rely on the speed and intensity to be world class. How would I improve it? glad you asked! I would remove the splashdown (this seems to be acting as a FAT trim) and allow the layout to continue down to the furtherest point away from the station. In that space include a much bigger wave turn, a bunny hop then a sharp rise into a turnout feature (maybe similar to Jersey Devils birds nest turn around). A dive of the raised turn around into a long string of airtime hills, some smaller hops, some outerbanks or simple airtime hills. A new splash could even be added here, in the valleys between each hill have a small fake splash effect as if the train was skimming along the water. Just my thoughts. EDIT: Gonna release my version of this ride soon. It will feature the changes I would make to the layout as well as more cinematic shots and a detailed overview.
If you're making a new take on the ride, can i suggest making the last hills before the brake run a double down? It'd be right where Logger's double drop was so would be a fitting tribute as well as a great finale.
@@lancehutch Smiler probably still takes the cake for me due to overall length and pacing. This ride looks a little short, but depending on how intense it is, that might work out for the best lol.
I like the current layout. If the water splash is an actual water splash and not a fake trim splash it would be a lot better imo. This ride while short keeps the intensity and chaos up until the end and that includes the splash. Making it any longer and drawn out would only institute a need for blocks
I'd love to see a longer, full cinematic off-ride of the coaster, where the camera follows the train around the circuit and maybe some more viewing angles. I just can't get enough of this! 😃
Maybe I'll make a proper cinematic video featuring my edits to the layout? Seems everyone has the same thoughts about the length so might show what I think could be done.
@@lancehutch You have to bear in mind that on the overhead view of the plans, there is a red box around the coaster and development area that doesn't take up the entirety of the Loggers land. The coaster will likely not be able to go outside that box, so I'd consider that in your alterations. 😉
It helps I do this sort of thing as a job ;D Expect the final ride to be very different, especially after the splashdown. Everything before is very nice.
@@lancehutch even with the end. its better then all the other stuff I've seen, some just casually blanked out the huge outerbank and made it a turn around. But this feels like a perfect recreation for whats been shown
@@dillybob3248 I think some people just rushed to get it out for some quick views maybe? Because I've seen some stinkers. Jammy did a very good job but that wasn't final.
Favorite video on this. Not only does the layout look better here. The perspective to the other coasters in the area shows the sheer scale of this thing.
Reference points for things like this is very important, otherwise it just looks like an averagely sized ride. Saw and Colosus look so tiny, this thing is a monster. One thing I did like about this rides placement, is the fact stealth still looks very tall and isn't overshadowed as it's the otherside of the park.
Best recreation I’ve seen makes me really like it now. I think the twist going into the huge dive loop has more whip looking at the plans not so gradual and the first drop more steeper.
Well done. You're the only recreation i've seen that's actually interpreted the plans correctly and got the banking and elements right. Certainly going to be a great coaster but far too short. This is merlin afterall. They always cut corners and unfortunately if we are going to see a tall coaster, it's also going to be a short coaster... No doubt they'll spend £5m+ on tv adverts and stupid marketing stunts that could have gone towards making a coaster of decent length.
Dude in all fairness, that advertising would be extremely necessary, plus adding in too much length would make it boring. It would suck if it kept pulling the same tricks throughout the whole layout.
it looks like easily a top 5 or top 3 in the uk, but making it a few hundred meters longer, maybe with some smaller airtime hills and sharp turns and maybe a flating flow inline twist over the water would really compleate the layout
It’s more to do with merlin entertainment building short rides as they own Thorpe park and Alton towers. The big one is a fairly long ride in a small park. They could have easily done a longer layout but they will budget the ride based on previous ones hence short rides.
Ok so now I've seen this im happier but the coaster still needs to be longer. I think a couple more airtime hills after the outward banked airtime hill would be appreciated 1 floater and 2 ejector, maybe even a helix and then into the breaks.
Dude this is sick !! Definitely what nobody expected from Thorpe Park at all as we wanted a traditional out and back hyper or RMC or even a woodie but I’m sure Exodus will be a great coaster for the GP and coaster enthusiasts The one big question on everyone’s mind is WHO THE HELL IS BUILDING THIS……looking at this concept it could be a number of manufacturers from either Intamin, Mack, Vekoma, Gerstlauer or even S&S After watching this video it looks like something Vekoma would build and not too far from the Vekoma Bermuda Blitz model like Lech, but would Thorpe go with a Vekoma ???? To me it still has that RMC/Intamin feel about it tho almost like if Hyperion and Zadra had a big ugly baby lol
From a layout point of view I think I'd prefer an airtime focused element instead of the splashdown, but I can understand why they went for the splashdown instead from a visual point of view. Also good seeing you here! :)
Thanks man :) And so do I! Tho hope future versions of the layout feature a little bit more, even an extra airtime hill or something. Thing is a little short.
On that basis The Swarm is about 70% too short and Stealth about 95% 😂 there still awesome rides though, sometimes short but sweet is best 👌 But for what it's worth this isn't as short as the rides footprint would suggest, it packs alot of elements into a tight area rather like The Smiler at Alton Towers does.
Lots of people are saying it is too short, but we know that when Thorpe Park is busy, it is rammed we're talking 2 hour ques even for the older coasters sometimes. So it makes sense to make it shorter otherwise we'd all be waiting 3 hours at the park to get on 😅
I'm not sure if this point is referring to capacity or just overall hype.for the ride. In both points this is wrong as this will easily be the most popular ride on park and if it was longer would simply just run 3 trains and include another block zone to increase capacity.
I do hope the final version is longer! Two or three air time hills after the stall would fit amazingly, particularly due to the pacing! Looks canny though
People don't mention this enough; I think they will do something special with the trains. I'm kinda guessing it's gonna be a Mack, because they could offer the big dipper trains or an extreme spinning/hybrid train. The render pictures really show a fat track base and they never show a train. This raises my suspicion.
Definitly not just you. It is a short ride for sure, at least in prime ride time. The track length probably will be the longest or second longest on park.
This doesn't feel shorter than, say, Lightning Rod. It'll be an amazing ride, and even though a few more elements would be nice, I feel like they've got a winner
@@lancehutch Didn't know that! Wow, seems like everyone's following rmc as far as elements and unpredictability these days , it's been time for new things for a while.
@@lancehutch Fair enough, it's just the plans show the coaster from some more angles. Yes but those extra hills and turns won't sell extra tickets. This is a hyper coaster, the tallest in UK, and that is what the GP is interested in.
