We fitted a set of each to Traxxas sledge and did a back to back comparison
Did not all go to plans - almost a trip to the hospital!!

I put some belted tires on mine and it’s almost impossible to control it now. Not sure what the difference is that causes loss of control but I’m going to need another set of tires. I even added sway bars and higher rate springs with 80 wt shock oil. I can’t figure it out
Belted are not as compliant they are a stiffer tyre so will have less grip we found
That accident looks painful! 😬
It was and still is!
so those were the stock Sledge non-belted tires (TRA9672 170x84mm) vs Proline Badlands MX38 belted (176x94mm), right?
the Prolines do not look much bigger, looks almost the same, would think they are wider looking
I have TrencherX (165x105mm) and Badlands 3.8 (149x69mm) and looking for something taller but not as wide as the Trencher to have better turning, was thinking the MX38 would be a bit too wide so was thinking about Backflip 6S (172x77mm) or the Sledgehammer (170x84mm)
btw there is also a belted version of the Sledgehammer TRA9573, that would be more fair comparison of belted vs non-belted
Yes, the new belted Sledgehammers would be a perfect comparison - but they were not available when we made this video. Eventually we swapped both Sledges onto the Arrma Backflip LP tyres as they are lighter, cheaper and balloon far less. Check our more recent videos to see how they drove 👍🏼
I’d try belted up front standard in rear. Thoughts??
We haven’t tried that combination but think that would give too much understeer.
Hey guys have you jumped the sledge yet and how’s the chassis I only ask as this is the kind of fun I’d personally put him through with a few non Mr. Talbot jumps more like less than 10ft of air🫣 and d’you think TRAXXAS themsywill come out with an updated chassis seen as a lot of folk can’t get on with it 😳 oh oh have you also changed pinions on em and how’s that go
🥃🤗⚡️
We have various skate parks near us but find racing more fun. Not had any mechanical gremlins but you need to check truck over as we have found loose screws and low oil levels
Why don't traxxas supply them with better tyres they seem so much stronger
Cost. The truck would cost more
I suppose so. But the tyres don't look like they will last long
