  • Last year we were delighted to announce the Watercress Line had been awarded the prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Last Monday, the 27th of February, the Lord Lieutenant for Hampshire came to Alresford to officially present the award on behalf of King Charles and pay tribute to the remarkable contribution volunteers have made to the success of our line over the last 45 years.
Tune in at 5pm to see the full speech from the Lord Lieutenant, Deputy Lieutenant Mrs Joan Ferrer JP and our president Richard Lacey.
Keep up to date with the work at Ropley MPD and follow groups/ropleympd/
Follow the Hampshire Unit’s progress at groups/thumper1125/

Unfortunately the running of the Driver for a Tenner event was very poor. Me and a friend went specifically for it, but no one told us that you had to book a time slot at Alresford, and by the time we got to the buffet to book a slot (before the first departure from Alresford) all but one of the slots was already booked. I would have thought that these slots would NOT be offered to volunteers but unfortunately at least 7 slots during the day were taken by MHR volunteers, including one with 4 slots in a row. This was the first time visiting the MHR for about 5 years, and the pair of us left disappointed and with a bad taste in the mouth for a return.

This is very unfortunate and shows a lack of planning. Not good to upset patrons.
