    Great basic install! I took mine a step further and weather stripped the entire length of the edges as I need the least amount of water getting in. (Baby stroller, bags that etc) if you have it like this and not weather strip (especially the front edge where it really needs it. You will get some water in there

    • @DJXPLRS
      @DJXPLRS  Год назад

      True. I still have the weather stripping and should get it attached.

    • @thewarontom
      @thewarontom 9 месяцев назад

      After you sealed it, are you getting any water?

    • @jmabs5096
      @jmabs5096 9 месяцев назад

      @@thewarontom about a year in, drove cross country trips with our cargo in down pouring rain at highway speeds, the only slight leakage was the tailgate area but I'm talking few drops here and there. I put on a kit that seals the tailgate. The biggest issue with this particular model for the tacoma is there the seal on the rear meets the top of the tailgate. There is the ever so slight gap because there is not enough down pressure and a slighty too thin weather stripping that leaves tiny gaps, however I carefully added a bead of silicone against that strip with waxed paper between the seal and the gate, let it sit until it stuck to the seal then carefully removed the wax paper to leave a perfect line of silicone. It's 99.9% water proof, besides taking a pressure washer to it. It's tight. Biggest advise is to take a bright flashlight, climb inside the truck with the cover on and see where the light shines. It's not really an issue when your moving as there is enough air speed to wick the water from this gap, but I needed a near perfect seal as we carry all our cloths and gear in the bed on travel

      Mine actually failed. The latches stopped working. I took the cover off and installed a Truxedo Truxport. To be fair though, Tyger Auto sent a complete new kit to repair the latches and release cord. Has not arrived yet. I’ll probably put the cover up for sale CHEAP.

    First heavy rain coming back from Lancaster, Pa this past Monday. In spite of the lack of foam stuffing in the front bed gaps (the bed not the tonneau), I go no water infiltration.
    For new owners, I would recommend taking a long drive to see how the cover acts. I discovered some flapping at speed caused by a slightly mis-aligned tonneau track. Not a defect, just an adjustment to make: loosen the track, re-align it, tighten.

    Random question, but do you have any rattle noise in your bed with this cover? I can’t remember having this rattle before putting the cover on. It happens when I shut the back doors and when I hit bumps or go over any rough pavement. I have all the hardware installed tight though so I’m really not sure if it’s the cover.

    • @DJXPLRS

      It is a soft cover, so it's thin enough to roll up easily. But strong enough and thick enough that it handles snow and rain like a champ. I've loved this cover!
