Fabulous song. Where the Hell are the topical, protest , folk singing type singers we need so desperately today.

Great stuff. Petes comment at the end is so 'of the time'. Protest and survive. It was true then, and its true now.

    THis is SO Awesome.
I watched this show regularly as a child, I had no idea I could find this wonderful music here!
This is one of my favorite Tom Paxton songs - and Ramblin' Boy even more so.
I guess it's not likely - but I'm gonna look for "King of my Backyard". Me and my little brothers uesd to laugh like crazy when we would hear that Tom Paxton song.
And Pete Seeger!!! He just led the nation in song at the Pre-inaugural Concert. You could tell he really enjoyed it.
    Thank you!

I love folk protest music, because you can yell at a hippy all you want, but I'd like to see Limbaugh take on Paxton or Guthrie!

And the nationwide trend dating from 2001 of military camouflage being treated as a fashionable clothing style, adorning everyone from babies to seniors, but especially encouraged among schoolchildren, is a national sickness we should all be keen against. Deliberately raising a generation of mercenary killers without conscience.

I understand Wayne LaPierre wants to make this the official song of the NRA.

I agree with this whole heartedly. Gun safety and personal responsibility as well as common sense.

Teach your sons and your daughters peace. Teach them not just to tolerate others, but to appreciate the value of diversity. Teach them to value all life. Teach them the Philosophy of Liberty (search RUclips for it). But do not teach them that the tools to defend themselves, their families, and their fellow citizens are evil. Teach them responsibility, and what it means to be free. If you teach them that guns are bad, you're enslaving them to those who control governments.

    This is a great song.
He's respected as a songwriter for others but not as a performer... maybe if he had hair he would've gotten big on his own.
