Went to high school with Mike. Followed that up with going to college with him at OSU. It's funny looking back. All of us guys would sit around our apartment or his and drink and play songs. Mike was only dabbling in writing music at that point. I'll never forget when his first song rights were purchased and he took off from there. Long before The Great Divide was even a thought in his mind. Mike has stayed humble and never forgot his roots. It's fun to watch him still at it. I just remember the kid who strummed a guitar with a dream. Great video. Thanks for posting.
I hear ya, a terrific band. Down home, Red Dirt music at its best. No wanna be's here, they all the real deal. Saw them few years back at Stevensville after split. Miss Mike, but they are still a great band. Hats off to TGD. Thanks for the music and memories. They are both something I have and will always keep.
The band used to let me hang with them outback before the shows and drink beer. Got lots of pictures posing with them in Oklahoma and at Billy Bobs. Mike and Scott were the ones I talked to the most and they were cool ass dudes. Humble, and just good ole boys.
I drove 7 1/2 hours after working 7 hours to get to the reunion concert in Stillwater last Aug...I've seen them twice since then...and I'm planning another 4 hour drive at the end of March to see them in Justin Tx.....in case you cant tell...I LOVE TGD! God bless them
Ive known them for decades. Great guys and im for them and their success. They are a huge part of my high school and Stillwater years. Even more than that if you know or knew me at any time even now.
Gotta love the Boyz from Stilly & Oklahoma Red Dirt!! Nothing more true, original, & from the experience of the heart... Gotta give a HUGE shout out to Cody and the Boyz from Cross Canadian Ragweed...just another great band from Stilly
Thats red dirt/OKLAHOMA country music, my brother. All due respect to our friends south of the Red River, Red Dirt music is from Oklahoma. Anyway, get on Amazon.com. Thats where I had to go to find this album.
Someone please fire all these so called "country singers" in nashville and bring back the true talent. This was the very first band that got me into country music when I was little. Country singers aren't found in nashville anymore they are out west (This is for you RCA!!!!)
@jnmoore01171 If I remember right, The Great Divide is from Stillwater, Oklahoma.Red Dirt Country is also originated in Oklahoma because of the color of the soil.NOT Texas red dirt music.Who cares.....I do!
@GarrettTacha actually the Braun brothers that started reckless Kelly are from Idaho..., I'm good friends with them and was going to cowboy poetry gatherings with them before they were big....
Can anyone tell me why their album "Goin' For Broke" is absolutely NOWHERE to be found?? And when I say nowhere...I mean nowhere. Haven't checked iTunes yet, but I can't find a single song from that album on RUclips and can't seem to find any music store online or anywhere else that has the album.
+Garrett Tacha hey brother, I don't know why. I just looked it up on youtube and I see what you mean. no dice. I found your comment because I was looking up the the great divide to listen to that exact album. I had the cd but a buddy has it from years ago of all night bar session. I need to get that cd back...man...is anyone better than the great divide or what...especially that album...man I had to reply to your post...you understand brother...im from texas, san Antonio....even though these guys are from Oklahoma...im drinking beer listening to them now...can't complain...anyways... cheers
Oklahoma.... Texas.... Who cares? Its all red dirt and and aint flipping Nashville I do miss The Great Divide. Some of the best original TexasRed Dirt Music
@BADOklaOutlaw .... Your right. Sorry for the confusion and didn't mean to piss you off. I guess I should of stated TEXAS/RED DIRT. My main point is it is not some crappy Nashville product where somebody else wrote their song. I don't even care if it came from either state cause I love Reckless Kelly and their from Idaho. Get over it, dude. Just saying it don't matter....
It's an injustice that these guys never made it bigtime on so-called country music radio.

@jnmoore0171 i agree same difference @BADOklaOutlaw I know. I live in Stillwater.
Yeah they don't come down to Texas to tour/record...because yall have the scene
Actually the Red Dirt is the Oklahama music. Hence it always being called Texas/Red Dirt or Texas and Red Dirt, so credit goes to both regions.
I wonder where they filmed this
Lockhart, TX my wife's hometown
Can't find this song on iTunes or anything.. It's the best song by them I think...
Yeah this album is a RARE find anymore. It's my fav from Mike as well.

"Bands" don't make it big in country music.
