Freeman is partly correct regarding US manufacturing becoming more efficient, which results in lower demand for workers. But he omitted the fact that the US manufacturers shipped jobs to low wage countries, especially China with lower production costs. While that resulted in companies like Amazon benefitting from getting their stuff to sell at relatively low prices, shipping jobs overseas destroyed the Middle Class and working class's purchasing power. That plus financialization of the economy, where people went into debt to maintain their precarious lifestyle, compounded the problem, resulting in decaying infrastructure, education, health care, etc etc. Yet the myopic political class falsely blames China for the problems which they themselves, slavish service of Capital over people, created.

Yes. Thank you. It is easy to blame China for US economic woes but sidestep the fact through the 2000s onwards US elites passed the gilded age of the 1900s in terms of concentration of wealth, by off shoring blue collar manufacturing jobs while profiting hand over fists through the exhorbant margins. Chimerica was a thing in the 2000s. Now people convinently forget? Now blame China, for working for pittenence in the 2000s, 2010s, for the very profits of US Elites like Elon Musk and all the US obligarchs profited from. Sheesh. But this will be sold to Americans in whom to blame.

@Robert-xs2mv Andrew Yang ran on it in 2020. I hadn't heard Musk endorse it. I don't think think Musk supports Social Security.

    • @Robert-xs2mv
      @Robert-xs2mv 3 дня назад

@@claudermiller why refer to it as “ social security “?
Only when the societal hierarchical bottom rung is strong enough that higher rungs can be achieved.
A weak bottom rung can say only support ten rungs above it, but a strong bottom rung might support fifteen rungs above it, beneficial to everyone. Proper use of modern technology and automation will achieve this, improper use will destroy society, and history is littered by such examples. Hopefully this time humanity will learn from this. Sadly my hope is not very high.

Liberman finally resigned in protest over Netanyahu's Hamas policy which, he said, marked "the first time Israel is funding terrorism against itself" ... Netanyahu's education minister Naftali Bennett also denounced the payments, and also quit""

We are not "entering" a world in which sovereignty means nothing. That is the old world of empire, when, for the English Upper classes, the sovereignty of India, China, etc etc meant nothing. Then America, regarding it's annexation of North Mexico, the Philippines, Haiti, their sovereignty has meant nothing.
President Putin is the one person who talked of it, and has pushed it's concept over and over for the past 25 yrs. Because of this, now Russia, China re Taiwan, now Denmark Greenland, can talk of their Sovereignty when America talks of taking them over. The concept is now a living one in everyone's minds, and it's growing.

There was no formal recognition of the fact that Nazi Germany had committed genocide against the Romani people until 1982.
It was in 1979 that a group of Roma - survivors of Nazi persecution - took part in a hunger strike to raise awareness about the genocide that had taken place.
As a result of the hunger strike, international attention was drawn to the situation.
In March 1982, Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, the West German Chancellor at that time, acknowledged that Roma had been victims of genocide under the Nazis due to racial persecution.
In spite of this, it was not until 30 years later, in 2012, that German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened a memorial specifically dedicated to the Roma and Sinti who were killed by Nazis.
So spare me the repeated and useless excuse that German guilt is an acceptable explanation for anything and everything.

I wonder why '2003' is so significant?
It seems they saw other nations invade sovereign nations on a false pretext, escape any consequences and plunder their resources and it had some sort of foreseeable effect on Chinese policy. Turns out they were right.

Blinken talking about 'our values' - didn't they give Netanyahu multiple standing ovations not so long ago? Someone facing trial for acts of genocide, and war crimes?
The world does not share those values. For example, during 'The Troubles' between the UK state and Irish separatists, the UK state didn't flatten Dublin, and we would have been met with massive disapproval from the USA if we had attempted it. And now we have peace, thanks to the efforts of brave politicians of all stripes, and from both nations involved. Backed up by the EU.
That is what deserves applause - not treating a whole people as terrorists, and justifying killing women and children because of it. If you can't bring yourselves to condemn, at the very least don't show the world videos of you giving him a standing ovation!

After the end of WW2, Australia welcomed fascists from many European countries such as Germany, Croatia, Ukraine, Holland, France, Poland and the Baltic States to name a few.
The aim was to create a voting bloc that would be hostile to any move to assert independence from the UK and the USA and to build up a fanatical anti-Communist and anti-Traxe Union cohort within the country.

    Secretary Blinken,
Don't take to heart China's "lecturing" of you. You're actually their fav US Sec. of State of all time. You see, the Chinese didn't have to sell their worldview to the Global South. They just needed to point to your foreign policy.
So, your term as US Sec. of State had been a runaway success - for the Chinese and Russians. Bye bye Mr Blinken.

Mrs Adleson could probably buy Greenland and the arctic resources involved would likely make it a good investment in the long term.

      I would suggest 150 trillion , don’t have that $$$ ? Then buzz off .
Russia made that mistake by selling Alaska .
