it’s 2021, and i’m still amazed, Mr Tosin Abasi is the future 🤘🏻
What is now Ectogenesis off of their new album at 1:51
no lol, this is the begining of earth departure lol
trifecteye The beginning of the video is Earth Departure, 1:51 is Ectogenesis
your fucking right haha
OH AHIT
Makes me feel better that he sits on songs for years.
haha that thump pick technique is so fucked, his hands are barely moving but I can hear about a million notes per second
ikr, it's because he uses his other fingers, too. It's kinda hard to see but if you look you can see something
Dylan McGonigal it's actually fake, his hand is plugged in wirelessly to an app on his phone which makes him sound like the guy from animals as leaders
jam clow No they actually have 3 bas players behind the curtin being jolted with electric shocks.
how do you know that I smell fishy business
Christoffer Törnquist I heard a rumor they brought Jaco back to life, added bootsies heart to his body, and keep promising him he'll get to do another weather report album if he just hangs in a little longer.
His slap "picking" is damn accurate and gives to the tune a great tone !
Tosin is on another level. What a talented young man.
0:04 Earth Departure
1:46 Ectogenesis
2:08 An Infinite Regression
i never realized he played riffs from ectogenesis this early before the madness of many came out
I'm just going to throw this out there, but this guitar looks way nicer than his Ibanez signature...
Delta Nein Strandberg has been around since 1982. I don't know if you can rightly still think of them as a startup.
Delta Nein Ibanez isn't a company, just a name slapped on the headstock of many guitars… Show me the Ibanez factories where they make the signatures, the customs, the high end Ibbyz… No sirreeeee. I should say show me a factory where they actually build them.Strandberg, at least Ola's Strandberg's blow Ibanez away without a doubt… As for the Washburn Strandbergs well, that's up to you if you want one. I personally wont pay that money for one unless it's made by Ola and I aint waiting that long. Kiesel/Carvin Vader all day, Mine is Koa neck and body, flamed Koa top. Cost me less than a Washburn/Stranberg and is the most ridiculous guitar i've ever seen. Look em up!
+Billy Perry You were thinking of Steinberger guitars. A company that Gibson decided to buy up and shut down
After 1:50 you can hear the beginning and theme to their song "Ectogenesis" in the new album, lmao this was 2011
I was thinking the exact same thing!
I thought the pick was his tongue hehe
lol
LMAO!
In so baked and I've been thinking that the past 2 minutes haha
"Damn, he's focused"
Tosin with a shaved head and using his thumb reminds me of a modern Wes Montgomery...
Ooooh!!! I can see that. Damn. Wes on 8 strings.
Omg that was sick, even for Tosin. Warmed up like a boss.
1:51 Is the main riff for the song "Ectogenesis" from their new album in 2016 titled "The Madness of Many".
I always loved his clean sound.
I'll be waiting for that day, your design is awesome
Ha, glad to hear it. And now my day is a bit brighter too.
keep on rocking, Tosin!!
I would love to see Tosin and Victor Wooten play together with that down-up-pluck-pluck technique, that's amazing!
2:07 - end, blew my mind. Especially with the visuals in the background.
Hearing An Infinite Regression always does that to me as well
2:11 is frickin amazing, I just love Tosin's picking-style.
His technique is incomprehensible yet mind blowing to me.
Ola, I love your instruments so much. The aesthetics and overall design of them are just gorgeous. Major, major props. Hopefully one day, I'll be able to own one myself. Keep doin' what you're doin', man :)
I’m definitely getting me one of these beauties!
plays so freaking clean. watching infinite regression live was awesome...except the album wasnt out yet
I pride myself in being able to decipher what most guitarists are doing. But Tosin consistently stumps me!
Great tune...still whistling it...
A true musician.....playing whatever sounds good.
I'm still in disbelief that this guitar has been stolen, such an amazing. I just hope it comes back to the hands of Tosin soon!
it may just be because tosin abasi is playing it but that is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen
that guitar is perfect... its shape conforms to your body perfectly nomatter what position you play it in.. and the curving frets... genius:D just like tosin:D
AWESOME!!!!!
Amazing.
I like how this is all stuff from the new album
I refrained from clicking the link to 1:45 .... and I must say, my good man, I was not disappointed!
What's amazing is that he's doing most of that with his picking hand/fingers. Not a lot going on with his left hand.
thanks!
I love the thing he plays at 1:50!
Technically a beast, and his timing impeccable. Harmonically he is doing stuff other guitars can't or won't. Its almost like a Jazzy, Metal, Segovia....
totally badass
@damaged01 I agree. One can only assume that his music is even more mind blowing with time spent listening and comprehending his innovative style and technique.
Earth Departure!!! SO sick
that man is not human
Hade ingen aning om att det fanns gitarrtillverkare av denna klass i Uppsala. Tosin Abasi och Misha Mansoor är inga dåliga lirare direkt. Awesome! :D
I believe this is that wooten slap technique where each thumb slap strikes the string then lifts up like a pop so for that riff he is alternating between the two low strings in a down up down up sort of thing while popping the higher stuff with (i think) multiple fingers in a different rhythm
This video made me want to see him play bass one day.
What's the flavor of that pick?
Tom Jeffrey Macalisang Strawberry Cheesecake
Alex Dattel
Strawberry kool-aid*
Watermelon.
I'd love to hear Tosin play some blues!
makes me happy to see BULB in the suggestions
i think that last part is the fastest guitar playing i have ever seen! (baring in mind that there are like two ghost notes between each main note!)
two hamer ons and then 4 fingerpicked/slapped ones then repeat
Tosin Abasi is just too good for this planet at this time. He is either an alien or he's from the future. There's just no way....
I would LOVE to see a right hand camera of this.
hes awsome live
Effortlessness is the key to doing anything well.
2:08 - best part. beautiful
i love the look at 0:09 hes like yea im just getting started ;D
@olastrandberg cool thank you :) ... uhm wich pickup postions has tosin, just neck, neck+bridge and bridge ... or more?
What would I not do to master that thumbing technique...
i just started with tht begining from an infinite reggression and repeated it a billion times for some minutes a day lol, after some months it randomly clicked (still needs work tho).
though what i can say worked for myself is extending your thumb as far back as possible to keep it some what sturdy. if u still wanna know lol
+テラフオーム thanks for the info! I learned the intro to earth departure and for me, the sound is still very soft but then again I have minimum gear so I guess you need a specific gear to make it sound more agressive
ooooooohh yes u do lol, i notice a difference through the ipad and amp but can still use somethng better myself, gd luck
Gotta slap harder, once u get use to it, then it sounds really good.
Imagine as if you're trying to hit the string underneath the string you're actually striking.
Then hook the string on the way back up.
uhhhhhh what that was amazing
Monster guitar for monster player. : |
Awesome.
Aside from his technique, his stamina is what makes him so good
I wish we could see him play bass one day
It would be the same thing with less diversity... an 8 string is already half a bass.
Delta Nein I'm pretty sure he'd have a different approach. I thought the same thing but then again nvr know til you try. The feel and tone of bass is significantly different from a guitar so i'd expect he notice a difference in the way he hears and executes himself
@mitchellolol the thumb is a double thump (one stroke down, the second stroke up, like an upick literally) stroke 3 is his index pop and 4 is his middle pop
@Petrasilchen uhm not the pickups just what`s switchable
does anybody know what alumitones these are exactly? the tonebars i guess btu wich ? 4 or 4,5?
An Infinite Regression.
@olastrandberg cool thank you very much :) thy sound awesome :) i want them so bad for my rg 2228
@4stringFanatico Awesome thanks for the info man, that shit was detailed enough that i'm gonna go look like a surefine tosin abasi trying to get that technique down
Can anyone please explain how he does that technique? Yes, ive seen him in the video explaining it but if anyone has an instructional video or something because ive tried and just cant do it.
would someone please tell me how u would tune this guitar!
This is hard to believe. I see his fingers moving slowly, but the tempo of this piece is fast as hell.
@scottie2hottietfot Dear god. He must be superhuman. Thanks for sharing!
Is that an effect in the beginning that creats the fast picking sound?
form which AAL song is the riff at 2:09? I know I heard it in a song but can't find it anymore >.
@scottie2hottietfot Could you link that video? I'm not seeing it but would love to.
It's not fair how those sounds can come out of a guitar with so little effort.
@6project6nightmare6 Nope, Its the up and down of his thumb, then his index and middle fingers popping. so groups of 4 notes. he demonstrates in a guitar clinic video he did its really really cool!
@NickoTheGuitarist He shows it in some videos on youtube somewhere. He's inspired by victor wooten for that stuf. basically, two of the slaps are from the thumb, and then two of the slaps are actually plucks using his index. then the cycle resets. Maybe he also incorporates his middle and/or ring finger to get more notes.
The videos i've seen are ones where he does awesome triplets, where he does a thumb slap, a thumb pluck pulls it back up), and then plucks with the index.
Holy shit, that's the intro to "Earth Departure"!!!!
Yes.
how does he it those notes so fast at2:09
does anyone know the name of the technique hes using?
I'd buy one :D
@ACDCwarmachine he's using a weird bass slapping thing, he explained it in a video. Its like his thumb goes up and down on the string wich makes two notes and when the index of his left and tap the string it makes one more note and for the rest he's popping the string after he make the double slap with his thumb. it's something like this if i got i right
0:37 what the hell? Lightning fast reflexes!?
@jerryzkidz99 He IS using some sorta special delay. It can't be.
I've analized both of his hands now, he's just slapping them with his thumb and it sounds like he's alternate picking rapidly fast.
Some on tell me the song on 2:08 please. It is on the tip of my tongue and i can not figure it out HELP ME!
i still cant comprehend this technique even after watching the video he slows it down a bit. doesnt even look like hes hitting the other strings
The sneeze at :13 sounds like a sample that actually fits the song lol.
@wigler420 no problem "homie" glad i could be of assistance
How do you tune that thing ?
I swear he's not even touching the strings, he's just intimidating them into percussive beauty.
how does he makes this fast popping/slapping sound?
Listening to this, and watching the advertisement on the right that shows the Muppets dancing made my fucking day.
Is there a perticular song that he's playing at 1:50?
these guitars sound better than his ibanez
beefy,warm, not sloppy at all
great pups!
@Iliketacos091 It says..right in the discription...He also says it in his interviews...L2R
those percussive basslike techniques idk what they are called but they are hard as hell to get precise, :( ME GUSTA
1:51 Ayo what the hell is that Ectogenesis 5 years before it was released on Madness of Many?!
1:50 Ectogenesis riff
Oh my God!!!
@olastrandberg Have you guys started making 6 string basses yet or is that not possible?
how do you tune that thing :O
